Plague Subspecies: New Horizons
The expansion of the world map has brought tremendous change to the subspecies of plague. Some have gone extinct, and new subspecies are emerging. Welcome to the new official Plague Subspecies Registry. This is the place to learn about plague subspecies and register new subspecies. Please help keep this thread clean! Only post if you are registering a subspecies. You will be asked to delete any ineligible subspecies posts or non-subspecies posts. For buying and selling subspecies dragons, see the Plague Subspecies Sales thread. |

A Subspecies is a set of Gene, Color, Breed, and Eye specifications that have an associated lore. Any dragons that match the rules set forth in a Subspecies description is a member of that subspecies.
A Plague Subspecies is one that is connected the plague flight through lore.(credit)

Variant Subspecies: A subspecies that is connected to or derived from another subspecies. It will have different genes/color/breed/eye requirements, but is visually related, and connected through the lore.
Ideal Subspecies Dragon: A dragon that fulfills the ideal genes/color/breed/eye requirements of a subspecies.
Irregular Subspecies Dragon: A dragon that mostly fulfills the genes/color/breed/eye requirements of a subspecies, but is slightly off. These dragons can still be useful in making a subspecies breeding pair.
Subspecies Breeding Pair: To be an official breeding pair, the pair must have at least a 50% chance of producing Ideal offspring.
Legendary Plague Subspecies: A subspecies that was registered in previous versions (2015, 2017, or 2018) of the Plague Subspecies Hub. [i]Zombies are the most devoted children of the plague. It is said they cannot rest until the Plaguemother's dream of all-encompassing infection is realized, so they simply crawl out of their graves to continue their loyal efforts. Contrary to popular myth they are not mindless, ravening beasts whose only propulsion is hunger. Instead, they are mindless only when the Mother’s presence is absent from them, and their primary goal is to spread infection, but since obtaining food is usually secondary to this act, they do not mind indulging. They are also not adverse to the consumption of their own kind.
This subspecies is widely ranged in genetics but limited in color. This is because any plagueling may become a zombie; the commonality is in their reanimated state of being.
This subspecies is most successful in its homeland. Zombies do not need the flesh of the living to survive, but they do need the blessing of the Plaguebringer. If they venture beyond the border of the plaguelands, that which animates them will cease to exist. So long as an adversary stays just out of reach they should be safe.

[i]It is rumored that long ago, Skinless stripped the flesh from their lean bodies of their own volition, as a message to the rest of dragonkind that they were invulnerable to pain, and could not be frightened by threat of violence. It has since become an inherent trait. Despite the horrifying appearance of the the Skinless, rest assured that they are not in discomfort. The exposed nerve endings of muscular and connective tissues are far less sensitive. Their surface vessels release rivulets of fresh blood, which help to cleanse dirt and bacteria amassed in a typical day. This emission is constant and accumulates as a tacky, clotted substance which covers them like a protective layer. They will avoid water at all costs, as washing away the bloody coating will leave them vulnerable to native infections.
This subspecies is most successful in its homeland. Ironically, they may cause skin-related ailments, such as sores, ulcers, scabies, mange and ringworm.
