Some cry for loss, some for unrequited love, and some in fear of what’s to come. Sometimes, as the tears of these dragons mix with the energies of the Tidelord and Gladekeeper, an intuitive dragon attuned to the emotions of such poor souls is born. The dragons resemble the water lilies that might grow atop such pools, and tend to hide amongst them while observing a grieving dragon. All manner of broken heart are open to the assistance of what those who met them have affectionately call [i]Water Lily dragons[/i]. From those who've lost a loved one to those who've lost their [i]joie de vive[/i], the Water Lilies strive to soothe an injured soul and give a dragon time to pause at their poolside and encourage their inner strength to move onward. Water Lilies delight in assisting a grieving dragon to lift their head from their malaise and seek the sun on their face once more. It hurts a Water Lily to see other dragons so discordant. Highly empathetic creatures, these delicate beings spend their lives assisting those who are struggling by whispering encouraging words, casting small spells to cheer, or sometimes even secreting chemicals to improve mood or calm the frightened. Due to their giving nature, they tend to be secretive, only appearing to those who need them most. Many tales have been told, however, of the soothing nature of lilypad ponds and how visiting them helped a dragon in their darkest time of need. Pinks and Whites colour their wings and manes, adding femininity and delicacy to their appearance, in an effort to relay their docile & helpful nature. Golden Yellows mimic the pollen of the water lilies, and add a beautiful shine to their dragon counterparts, bringing the warmth of the sun and speaking to the ease of a new bright morning after a storm. Favoured food [item=water lilies] Social These dragons tend to be solitary, living alone except when they are taken by a grieving dragon -- then they are devoted to that dragon for the duration of their grief. Otherwise, the Water Lilies are too skittish and shy to spend much time as a cluster or swarm. There are exceptions to this, of course, where larger bodies of water are found with vast expanse of water lilypads that can house a dozen or so of the fae, pearlcatchers, or skydancers of the subspecies. These dragons excel at setting others on their path with a song, reminding them of what brings them joy and where their true purpose lies. Tomorrow is another chance to find their passion once again. Escarboucle – Pink & Bubblegum For dragons who suffered a hard end to a relationship, there are the Escarboucle. They gently encourage dragons to accept such situations, and realize that there are potentially far better things ahead. Their secretions encourage a dragon to bond with others, to better weather the emptiness left by lost love, and they are by far the most talkative lily subtype. Brydon – Rose & Pearl For dragons whose affections were never returned by their beloved, there are Brydon. These Lilies seem especially drawn towards those who are melancholy and self-depreciating, and will attempt to comfort any dragon who fears they are unlovable. These Lilies secrete a chemical that will increase a dragon’s confidence, perhaps to encourage them to keep trying to find love. Marliacea – Maize & Cream For dragons who feel great fear and anxiety about the world and its future, there are Marliacea. These lilies may secrete a sweet, comforting scent that can relax a panicked dragon, and they tend to be the calmest and most patient of the lily subtypes. Their words are gentle and friendly, and most dragons will trust them inherently. Gladstonia – Antique & White For those who have lost a beloved clanmate, friend, or mate to death, there are Gladstonia. When speaking, these lilies tend to be frank and unapologetic. They see the stark divide between life and death as nothing to be afraid of, and push dragons to keep moving forward. These lilies may secrete a chemical that clears a dragon’s head, to better help them accept their loss. Usually compromising of a single family unit, generations of Veilspun swarm together to delight and mystify those grieving dragons whose hearts are in need of mending. They are known to stay with a disheartened dragon longer than their modern cousins, adding a bit of sparkle to the mane of the dragon they bond to. In fact, Veilspun are the only Lilies that will appear twice to the same dragon, as if they want to know "what happened afterwards" as much as the once-besotted dragon would like to tell them. Veilspun Lilies tend to appear to dragons in the darker recesses of Water and Nature domains, where perhaps sunlight has a harder time passing through a canopy overhead, or where nighttime reigns longer than ordinary. Secluded and spooky by nature, Veilspun Lilies tend to be a little more capricious with the dragons they choose to help, drawing on whim and emotion before making a decision if the unit will aide the grieving dragon, though most of the time their heart prevails and the Veilspun Lilies are perhaps the most tender (though fickle) of the subspecies as a whole. They only come up from the water when a grieving dragons teardrops disturb the surface, raining down emotion to beckon the small variant into existence.
