I've had long projects but I've never actually intended any to be that long XD
540 scatters on a single dragon and boy was that insanely painful.
Do you plan on also scattering over eventual (potentially jaw-dropping) doubles? As somebody who commonly scatters 20+ times on dragons, those are definitely bound to happen

540 is impressive! That is a crazy amount of scatters. How long did it take you to scatter a dragon that many times?
Unless I can make the money back I spent on scatters (which will be unlikely after a certain point), then I will be scattering over all doubles. If by some miracle I scatter a triple, I will also be scattering over unless I can make back the money spent on scatters. For both scenarios, I would also need a new gen 1 born on the same day so I can start over. :D

You'll have to be on a look-out for double obsidians and potentially double reds ahaha. Double obsidians (XXY) usually get about 50kg from what I've seen (not counting matchy terts) so you'll have ~140 scatters to get one of those x'D
Triples will always get you minimum 100kg, so you'll have ~280 scatters buffer for that x'D Man doing the math really makes me think about how much is dumped into scatters wow
Best of luck! I basically have the same rule myself, and just watch as friends who are watching along mourn the colors in silence XD After you hit 400+ though, it's all or nothing bahahaha
BUT it took me about a month to do that dragon's first 300 scatters :'3 I thought I had reached a point I liked but it plagued me for the next two years and scattered again two years later (I learned with this dragon that doing public scatter quests is not healthy, as you start feeling obligated to impress the people watching)

This is the kid whom I've scattered those 540 times ahaha
I think having just "scatter like crazy" in mind versus "I want something nice" is a good mindset to avoid what I call the five stages of Scatter Grief x'D Otherwise it's just pain.
I really need to get to reading OP though ; u ;... 1k chapters is so dang impressive!!

Thank you so much for that information! It is amazing how much certain color combos can go for, and a double obsidian would be painful to have to scatter over. That and a double white, especially if it were xxy.
The triple buffer is nice to think about. I'd love to scatter a triple before that point just to hope to sell and make more than I have spent on scatters. I feel you though! Then you get into how much in USD it all converts to, and it makes the wallet cry.
A month for 300 scatters? That is amazing! I wish I had enough for even 100... *shoves 40k gems sitting in my hoard to the back of my mind to forget about* I'm starting to understand what you mean by public scatter quests not being healthy. I have watched a lot of scatter quests done by people, and it is hard not to tell them to keep going when they are teetering on the edge of if to keep colors or not.
That is a gorgeous dragon though and worth the 540 scatters! Coal is such an underrated color compared to other colors on the wheel. I love the brownish tints it has and the lightish brown/tan secondary color some genes give it.
I did not think I was going to like OP and only started reading it just to to be able to say that I have read one of the longest running manga. After the first chapter I was hooked on it and get excited whenever a new chapter comes out. The creator never ceases to amaze me with how much care puts into the story.
