Long story short: November 12 is my 1-year FRniversary! I'm saving up to have one of each egg (except Banes) ready to hatch on that date. Plans? None yet! Hopes, dreams, wishes for special hatchies? Not really! There's a high chance that I will auction/sell most of the hatchies. Each one will come with at least one paragraph of lore guaranteed. But it totally depends on what comes out of those eggs! [s]First, the challenge: Can I gather/beg/barter/buy all the eggs by then? We'll see![/s] Challenge complete! They are convinced that the hatchling within is specially blessed by the Plaguebringer. This egg seems fairly stable; however, the sprouting vine on top grows at a rate of five feet a day. Care must be taken to keep it trimmed. This egg pulsates and flashes with a rainbow of different colors; it is difficult to look straight at it. If the hatchling inside is trying to cause everyone to have a flash-induced seizure, they're doing a very good job. Edit: the dragon who gathered this one, a Facet-eyed, insists that the hatchling itself is quite calm and stable, and that the eggshell alone is to blame. We have to take her at her word for now. Her birthday was soon, and while she hadn't expected anything in particular, she knew that the clan was preparing for something big. She growled. The clan was doing well; the dens were expanding, the Flight Representatives were content, the nursery and barracks of Tideling were always full, the alchemists kept learning new things and adding new members to their ranks with a minimum of terrible smells or cliff-destroying explosions. The Banescale-Gaoler war had come to a temporary stalemate, although she was certain that the uneasy peace would not last. And yet... Her thoughts were interrupted by a quiet grumble behind her. She turned to see Boreas, the Clan Guardian. Her first mate and oldest friend, father of her heir...yes, it would be his birthday, too. She had been working on a plan for his birthday, but had forgotten recently. His genetics were finally beginning to show through, and he was going to be much more handsome than she had originally thought, but the fact remained that while they made great partners, they did not make good mates. Her own mate was much more suited to her. "It's almost time, isn't it?" Boreas rumbled. "Yes." She sensed an unspoken urgency behind the question. It was an urgency she felt as well. "You heard it, too. It was his voice, I know it..." "I did." "It's been so long...so long since we've heard it. No dragon has, except for Firstborns." "The Tidelord is still active and participating with us. His magic sustains us and all our clan members. It's just that...we haven't seen him or heard his voice." "Until now." "Have you seen a whole bunch of grey slime?" "Well, there's this stack you asked us to store for you last week," Spiritus pointed out. The slime wobbled and threatened to fall over. The Banescale steadied it automatically. "No, I had almost that much again back at the lab. But now it's gone, and so are two of my assistants!" "Hmm," Ocellus said. He glanced up to see a trio of dragons overhead, arguing loudly. They appeared to be juggling a large, mechanized box. "We heard about a clan that was trading all their eggs, and we wanted to get some for Aoide's birthday!" Livewire explained. [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/52207533]Clawrice[/url], the Nature Spiral, held out a pair of eggs. "See? We got a Wind egg and a Light one." "And an Ice one," Marquise said forlornly. She was attempting to open the box, but the locks were frozen tight. "The magic is really, really strong with this one." "Erm," Spiritus said. "I think we'd better gather some Ice mages." "And some Fire ones, too," Clawrice added. It took the combined efforts of both Ice Reps, both Fire Reps, and an Ice Seer and a Fire blacksmith to get the box open. The Fire reps' primal daughter ended up melting the ice just enough to remove the egg and pass it to the representatives, and then she blasted the entire box with flame until all the ice had melted. With the egg safely contained by the two Ice Tundras, who were quite excited to feel cold once again, the treasurers turned back to the miscreants. "Well?" "Sorry." "We shouldn't have taken those things without telling you. Even if they belong to the clan as a whole." "We won't do it again." "No, you won't," Ocellus nodded emphatically. Then he stepped inside the cave, and returned with a few more valuable items. "Now you're going straight back there and getting as many more eggs as this will buy." "What?" "Really?" The treasurers nodded. "We wish we'd thought of that ourselves! It's an excellent idea." "You mean EGG-cellent," Livewire quipped. Everyone groaned. "You Lightning dragons," Nudibranch grunted. "Hurry back, though. I'm still trying to brew some things...and now I think I have an idea of what, exactly..."
