Tabby Cats:
a Tundra Subspecies
a Tundra Subspecies
Welcome to the Tabby Cats subspecies hub! This is a brand new subspecies that I've been working on developing ever since the Swirl/Marbled genes came out and I discovered that I could like Tundras after all.

Long ago, a group of Tundras migrated from their home in the Southern Icefields and found themselves in a strange new land. Fearful of the large dragons that called the Ashfall Waste home, they slunk into the shadows and hid away, becoming feral hunters. Gradually they spread over many regions of Sorneith.
These Tundras developed distinct markings to help camouflage themselves as they hunted. They tend to travel in small, close-knit family groups, called clutters, naturally splitting up as hatchlings age and the group grows in numbers. Each clutter follows a nomadic lifestyle within its chosen hunting grounds, which may consist of two to three different lair sites. They will defend their territory fiercely from any threat, be it from another clutter or a nearby dragon clan.
A clutter generally consists of a male and female pair, along with their two most recent hatches. When adolescents reach breeding age, they are usually driven off to find their own mates. But there are exceptions to this, depending on the abundance of food available at the time. A clutter can be anywhere between 2 and 20 dragons, most related in some way.
They have an ingrained fear of Coatls due to their ancestral impressions of the Ashfall Waste. They naturally shun the larger dragon breeds as they would shun any large predator. They have a deep, abiding hatred for Mirrors; the roving, predatory nature of the Mirror pack conflicts with the Tabby Tundras' territory, and some of the fiercest battles have been known to bring several clutters together in an attempt to oust the foe.
Communal social grooming is practiced by all members. Hatchlings are born with their eyes open, but there is a long learning curve when it comes to hunting. All members participate in the care and training of hatchlings, whether the hatchlings are related to them or not.
Recently, some hatchlings have been captured by dragon clans in an attempt to rehabilitate them into dragon culture, with mixed results. As opportunistic hunters, Tabby Cats will stay near a dragon clan that feeds them. They may even move in with them and allow hugs and petting. But any attempts to teach them common Draconic or any other aspects of culture have failed up until this point.

These Tabbies have adapted to living in boggy, swampy areas. They live on whatever they can find and do not mind getting wet; in fact, their fur is so often wet that it begins to grow algae and take on a greenish tinge. These clutters come into contact with Bogsneak dragons more often than any other. Their relationship is tenuous at best; while Bogsneaks are not as aggressive as Mirrors, they can still be very territorial. However, some Tabbies will follow a lone Bogsneak from hunting ground to hunting ground in hopes of getting an easy meal.
