You can either have a very wise Amphleaf who will inspire and lead their group or a lonely druid who speaks in riddles and will stop travellers to give them some weird quest before they can move on. As a general rule, Amphleaves are a happy bunch, who will make mud pie contests and build stone shrines for the Deities. They live in small nomad communities that can be found either in Earth or Nature domains, but never wandering too far from these territories' borders. Amphleaves are great hosts for outsiders who wants to join their adventures which can vary from "finding a good relaxing spot for the day" to doing "a mysterious task related to the Deities". They also love to take mud baths and let plants grow on their backs and wings. When balance is lost, when fire gives too much and earth can't take anymore.. magma breaks through the planet's crust in an awe inspiring display of force, and Basalt hides walk the Earth. These dragons have literal fire at their core! Magma flows within and hardens where it's exposed to the air. When they are wounded, some lava may flow out until that hardens too. The scarring left behind remains, until time and the elements soften the edges of the pointed rock. As these dragons age, their core slowly cools, causing their skin to thicken and making movement more difficult. Their movements are best described as lumbering. Eventually, their core becomes dormant and they will stop moving at all. Basalt hides love to eat spicy food. They believe it keeps their core nice and hot and their skin from getting too thick. They do NOT like water in any form, or getting too cold.. unless they are injured and need their wounds to scar up quickly. Remaining in cold temperatures or water too long can cause complete dormancy, so it is something to take very seriously. Growth is a bit of an interesting process. It can be painful, depending on how thick their hide is at the time and it causes some vulnerability until the new skin hardens. The dragon will find a quiet area near water, a small pool in a cave is excellent for this purpose. Then the dragon will focus all its energy, psyching themself up until they can feel their insides getting hotter. With a loud roar they will clench up, grit their teeth and raise their back, flexing all their muscles, physically forcing their skin to crack around the basalt plates. Then he or she will enter their source of water to quickly set the new growth. Younger dragons will do this process multiple times a year, older dragons may only do it once a year or once every two years. Eventually their hide is too thick to crack, and growth will stop. Requirements Breed: Any Eyes: Any Primary Gene: Crystal ONLY Secondary Gene: Facet (preferred) or Shimmer Tertiary Gene: Crackle ONLY Primary Colors: Any Secondary Colors: Gloom-Shadow Tertiary Colors: Gloom-Shadow Lore Born in the deepest reaches of the cave system beneath Dragonhome, Boulder Opals can be spotted throughout the region. Said to be spirits of the first dragons entombed, brought to life by Arcane magic seeping through the rock, they guard the graves of dragons long gone. Prospectors hoping to find riches are always careful to avoid these spectral dragons, as they don't react well to the earth here being disturbed. They've been known to mess with any mining expeditions by moving or stealing supplies, although this can usually be prevented by bringing an offering of food. Earthshaker help you if you disturb a tomb, though; as these guardians are ferocious and will not hesitate to defend those still resting beneath the ground. They're sleek and slender so they can slide through the small chasms of the canyon easily. They practice a venerable duty. They refer to themselves as "Sentinels of Bones" but folklore calls them Canyon Wyrms. If a great dragon dies in Dragonhome / on the Earthshaker's territory, the Canyon Wyrms carry the body to their domain and prepare a holy ceremony to merge that dragon with the Earth. The ceremony takes place after the Sentinels have gathered the proper materials. They gather herbs they grow in special gardens and light them aflame to ease the mood of those around, unique urns are made to contain the important pieces of the dragon's life before they go to Earthshaker, and special shrouds around the body of the dragon to signify their leaving one world and entering the next. Once the necessary things have been gathered the Sentinels begin their ceremony. Everything is done with a select few Sentinels humming their dirge of goodbye. Over the past hundreds of years, a huge temple made out of stone and bones formed there, the entrance is hidden in the cliff wall, creating a path into the underground world that the Sentinels of Bones call home. Those that walk into the temple are welcomed by the Sentinels of Bones and are treated like royalty. Many of the visitors to the temple do not realize that the Sentinels are considered Holy, because of their care for the dead. A common wyrm has a dark body with a belly that glitters slightly like the gems deep inside the breach. They rarely talk to others but on the rare occasions that they do they speak in a soft, whispering voice. These dragons are not adapted to the loud and bright outside world as a result you'll rarely find them on the surface of Dragonhome. These dragons live within the caverns of Greatwyrm's Breach where they ambush any that dare trespass. While these dragons are not inherently venomous like their namesake, the saliva of these dragons has been noted to carry infectious bacteria that poison their prey’s bloodstream, as well as proteins secreted by glans within their mouths that act as an anticoagulant. It has been theorized this trait may have resulted from scarcity of food within the deep confines of Greatwyrm’s Breach, causing them to make sure that whatever they get ahold of will not get away. This extends to trespassing Beastclan such as the notorious Longneck of the region or other enemy dragons. When asked why these dragons reside within the Breach many will answer that they are protectors of the murals painted by their ancestors, as well as the ancient caverns decorated with treasures scavenged from all over Dragonhome. (Created by Lurkingbullfox) CURSED BONES Requirements Breed: Any, Ridgebacks and Snappers heavily preferred Eyes: Earth or Light (Glowing or Dark Sclera are ideal, but understandably, absolutely not required) Primary Gene: Speckle, Tapir Secondary Gene: Freckle, Striation Tertiary Gene: Ghost Primary Colors: Gloom-Midnight Secondary Colors: Gloom-Midnight Tertiary Colors: Maize-Orca Lore The deep, dark depths of Dragonhome are a mysterious place. Full of bones, new and old, and streams of ancient, writhing magic. It is a little-known fact that in Dragonhome, if improperly put to rest, the dead can rise again. These skeletons, imbued with powerful earth magic, are a rarity. They come about through the bones of dragons that were not correctly laid to rest, or those whose remains were disturbed. They known nothing but a desire to return to peace; and will readily combat any who disturb them further. Cursed Bones are most often first found embedded in the walls of newly dug, or discovered, caves, caverns, and tombs. The fresh magic of living dragons awakens the old magic settled in the bones, and eye sockets alight with a piercing glow. If left, which they usually are in a scrambled hurry, Cursed Bones will tear themselves free of the earth, and set about rudimentarily sealing off the area in which they were discovered. They then settle again, scattered on the floor of the cavern, and return to an uneasy rest. In contrast to the relatively peaceful disturbed bones, there are however, the unrested. These Cursed Bones are dragons who were not given the proper rites or methods after death, and if buried, will very rarely start taking in the surrounding magic. This crumbles their flesh away, but leaves the bones, pale-white, and the newly-made skeletons then seek out those who were supposed to have cared for them. Some Cursed Bones will demand a reburial- the correct way -while others will desire that their wrongdoers join them in death. Unrested Cursed Bones will settle if they are given proper rites and burial, or if they successfully kill the dragon(s) they sought out. At this point, they become the disturbed variant, seeking out nearby caves or even trekking back to their point of death, where they too enter an uncertain sleep. (Note- the “variants” described above are not true variants, for they look the same. The only differences are in their lore.) (Created by BuildingBridges) Requirements Breed: Preferred Nocturnes and Bogsneak, but not required – No Snappers Flight: Any VARIANT 1 "Heir of the Cliffs" Primary Gene: Petals Secondary Gene: Butterfly Tertiary Gene: Glimmer Primary Color: Steel Secondary Color: Steel Tertiary Color: Beige-Tan or Tarnish VARIANT 2 "Cliff Descendants" Primary Gene: Poison Secondary Gene: Toxin Tertiary Gene: preferred Glimmer but not required Primary Color: Stonewash Secondary Color: Stonewash Tertiary Color: Beige-Tan (or Tarnish) VARIANT 3 "Cliff Drifters" Primary Gene: Petals Secondary Gene: Butterfly Tertiary Gene: Glimmer, Gembond Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: Grey Tertiary Color: Beige or Silver Lore The Cliff Gliders are mainly Nocturnes that managed to adapt their lifestyle around the outer cliffs of Sornieth. Since almost every elemental area is surrounded by an unnamed water, there are plenty of rocky cliffs and shores who are a perfect habitat for sturdy and weatherproofed dragons. A group of rather small Nocs came together and learned how to build their homes in sandy caves and rocky chasms. Because of this, they developed an important colour pattern on their scales and hides. All of the Cliff Gliders have a blue to grey-ish colour with soft brown spots. When they hide in the crags, they’re almost invisible for seagulls and other prey. That’s how they hunt for them – stealthy! Cliff Gliders tend to snuggle together in big groups when the cold wind from the ocean blows against the Cliffside. Even the eastern cliffs of the sunbeam ruins can have harsh weather! It’s rare that the area of central Sornieth bears Cliff Gliders since they don't have easy access to the outer cliffs. Most of those travellers are from various flights and join this special group of dragons to turn over a new leaf! Nothing much-- more of the impression of a soul. The shape of it. The Daedal Supulchrum was an anomoly even in the ancient history of the Cairnstone Rest-- a decadent necropolis stationed on a leyline and headed by a tomb-palace above endlessly sprawling catacombs. The true history of the place is lost; some speculate it was built by a sect of the Earthshaker's Exalted as a future burial place for the god himself. Others say it was an enormous death cult with plans to inter all the residents of Dragonhome. Whatever the truth, The Earthshaker refuses to speak of it. The tomb-palace has crumbled; the names of the dead are long forgotten. None but the most eccentric and foolhardy bury their dead here today. A Cryptkeeper is born from one of the thousands of wall carvings that adorn the Daedal Supulchrum. When the shape of a soul becomes filled with the leyline energy in the grooves and cracks of a carving, the dragonsoul restores its form and the carving peels away from the wall-- creating a living stone dragon, neither the dead risen nor truly alive. A small community dwells within the catacombs, relying on precious supplies of cave brush to keep their fires going. It is considered a community duty to guide any living dragons found wandering the tombs, either to their destination or simply to the exit. As such, Cryptkeepers learn the labyrinth’s paths very early on in their lives. Eventually, they crumble and pass themselves. A few choose to leave the catacombs and pursue a more adventurous life. While often regarded with wariness (and sometimes great alarm from those not native to Dragonhome), Cryptkeepers prove themselves to be as varied as their living counterparts-- albeit commonly with better senses of direction. This ancient and quite rare species calls themselves the “desert diamonds”. Their name “desert diamond” comes from their beautifully glittering gemstone-like appearance and usually sandy colors. Desert diamonds have a relatively small but close-knit community, and they live side by side with their towering guards. Diamonds are very kind and wise species, but like all coatls they are fierce when it comes down to defending their home or each other. These beautiful dragons are noble and have an inner need of collecting lore and relics, espesially those that involve their beloved father, Earthshaker. It is a common bedtime story for young hatchlings to tell how their father, Earthshaker, once decided to give life to three beautiful gemstones, one white as the snow, one pale brown as the desert sand and one as glimmering as the purest gold. These three gemstones took the forms of three Coatls and became the first three purebloods. Earthshaker then took three shattered serpents from the ground, and gave them a new appearance. The serpents took a form of an imperial, a guardian and a Ridgeback. Earthshaker then told the three serpents to accompany one of the newly born diamonds, telling them to keep them away from harm and protect them. The diamonds were now appointed with a quest to learn about the world, so that when the Earthshaker would need them, they’d be ready. Nobody can say for sure if the story is true, but at least the hatchlings seem to be eager to hear their origin story from time to time. This allows them to stay camouflaged when hunting prey, with the added benefit of attracting mates. Their wings are also large, allowing them to ride the high updrafts of desert winds. They also shield the sun from their face, and can be used as a buffer against sandstorms. It's thought that their wings play a similar role to that of a fennec's ears, allowing them to dispel heat from their bodies to cool down quicker. These dragons are rather reclusive, and aren't seen very often. They are a nomadically-aligned species, roaming the deserts and desert plains hunting and selling their wares. They make excellent warriors, and take resource management, particularly that of water, deadly seriously. It is even said that a Dune-Painted can guess the amount of water in any container simply by looking at it. Elephants live peacefully, clearing paths for other dragons and enjoying frequent mudbaths. As a general whole, they are a bit superstitious about the symbolism of their natural jewelry and gravitate towards traits associated with said jewelry. Even the most modest of Fortune-Fetching Fountains often take pride in their identity associated with their wings' splendor -- as well as the children easily entranced by the smallest of glittering treasures. Fortune-Fetching Fountains originated in both Dragonhome and the Sea of a Thousand Currents. The Earthshaker, during one of his very common hibernation periods, had a wonderful dream where he saw adorable fountain dragons bringing water to the other dragons in their clans. Inspired and charmed by his visions, he crafted the fountains in his hands, using the best, sturdiest materials that he could offer. Though, he came across the issue of getting the water for the fountains. He called his lazy, younger brother through his stone phone. The Tidelord surprisingly answered with his conch shell: "Brother, why must you disturb me at this hour? I'm busy laying around and blowing bubbles," he whined. The Earthshaker cried, "But brother, I had a wonderful vision that is five times better than your magical, technicolor bubbles! I have crafted tiny, fountain children. The only problem is that there isn't really any water magic here in Dragonhome. Could you offer your services and bring these gorgeous creatures to life?" The Tidelord pondered this inspiring idea (pun intended). He loved the idea of the fountains, but there was something he required. "Brother, they must be able to blow bubbles, or so help me." "They shall," the Earthshaker agreed. At least they wouldn't be the prismacolor, "prophecy" bubbles that are supposed to have a purpose, though we all know the Tidelord just loves to blow bubbles, because he's an immature dork. And thus, they created the Fortune-Fetching Fountains, water- or earth-affiliated dragons who act as fountains to bring fresh water to their clan. They tend to feel responsibility for protecting the children of their clan. One day, a war between rivaling dragon clan's broke out and the young male had to take part to protect their clan. Weeks turned into months as the war waged, and their clan grew hungrier and weaker. Hatchlings started dying of starvation and diseases, including two of the young female's chlidren. As there seemed to be no ending to this war, Earthshaker himself came to stop them, so finally their struggle ended. As the males of the clan started coming back, injured and beaten, the young female waited her beloved to come back, but he never came... Instead, his lifeless body was brought back with several others for their loved ones to say their final goodbyes before taking them to their final resting place to the ancient burial grounds of Cairnstone Rest. The young female was devastated and with sorrow and darkness in her heart, she decided to find a way to bring her loved ones back again. She travelled across Sornieth with her only living child and after a year she finally found answers. She ventured back to Cairnstone Rest to seek out her dead husband and children, but while there she didn't realize how much she disturbed all the ancient souls resting. She also didn't realize that the ritual she was about to unleash wasn't ment to bring back only one soul: it was powerful enough to bring a whole graveyard full of souls back! And as she sealed the ritual the souls started crying while they got attached back to their bodies, and as the young female was no necromancer, she didn't know that they wouldn't be brought back in the condition they were before dying... And the ancient dragons started to rise from their graves with their bones dimly visible from their fossilized and decaying bodies, all seeming lost and confused for why they were brought back to the land of the living. As the female finally realized what she had done, she looked up to her once dead husband looked at her with disappointment in his eyes. "Look around you. There's no place for the dead in the land of the living. These ancient souls can't be let to wonder in this world freely... And as this was your doing, I feel that I'm also responsible for this, and there's no other option for me than to be their shepherd. You clearly aren't strong enough to get these souls back to an eternal rest..." And as the sun started to rise, this undead horde of ancient souls started their journey with the lead of the once young male and his two children by his side, as the female was left to mourn into the shadows of Cairnstone Rest. Strangely enough, many of the awekened dragons decided to take this as a second chance, and wanted to enjoy their new lifes to the fullest, adventuring, going places they didn't have the chance or courage to journey in their past life, or find a loved one to warm their cold hearts once more. As the young female's ritual had gone wrong, it had left the awakened dragons with a curse, and to everybody's surprise, some of them even managed to have hatchlings as they find themselves a new love! Their hatchlings shared their undead parent's curse with their appearance, but they were otherwise just like any other living dragon. The young female's ritual might have gone horribly wrong and unintentionally ripped souls from their eternal rest, but to some of them this "curse" of of life as an undead wasn't a curse at all: it was just a beginning of a new and better life. Requirements

Breed: Snapper
Eyes: Earth or Nature

Primary Gene: Swirl
Secondary Gene: Noxtide
Tertiary Gene: Underbelly

Primary Colors: Spring
Secondary Colors: Soil
Tertiary Colors: Honeydew

Lore

Nobody knows if the first group of Amphleaf Dragons came from Dragonhome or the Viridian Labyrinth, but they are known for their deep connection with the Earth and Nature elements making them too excentric for most dragons.

Lore
Basalt hides were born from deep within the earth, where rocks are so hot they are liquid.. where fire and earth collide and intertwine.

Born in the deepest reaches of the cave system beneath Dragonhome, Boulder Opals can be spotted throughout the region. The Cairnstone Rest used to be a burial ground, and these dragons haven't forgotten.

Lore
Deep down at the bottom of Greatwyrm's Breach, a small breed of spirals lives there, isolated from the folks on the surface.

Coral Snakes are XXY dragons.

Lore
These dragons obtained their name Coral Snakes due mostly in part to the striking color similarities they share with the small serpent. Their bright varying degrees of red, black, and yellow/orange carry the same warning of danger, but also serve as a way to identify those belonging to their clans.

Primary Gene: Speckle, Tapir
Secondary Gene: Freckle, Striation
Tertiary Gene: Ghost

Primary Colors: Gloom-Midnight
Secondary Colors: Gloom-Midnight
Tertiary Colors: Maize-Orca

Lore
The deep, dark depths of Dragonhome are a mysterious place.

The only differences are in their lore.)

Lore
The Cliff Gliders are mainly Nocturnes that managed to adapt their lifestyle around the outer cliffs of Sornieth.

Tertiary: Glimmer (Modern); Shardflank (Gaoler); Wraith (Banescale); Branches, Flecks (Veilspun)

Lore:

Sometimes, a wisp of the soul is left behind with the remains.

Breed: Coatl

Primary Gene: Crystal
Secondary Gene: Facet
Tertiary Gene: Opal or Glimmer

Colors:
Note: This subspecies has three variations which differ from each other only by colors. “Mixed-breed” Desert Diamonds are possible, if a dragon has colors from more than one Diamond colorwheel. For each variation, the primary, secondary, and tertiary must all be within the selected colors.
White Diamonds: Antique - Moon
Pale Diamonds: Maize, Cream, Sanddollar - Ivory
Royal Diamonds: Goldenrod, Amber, Buttercup - Cantaloupe

Lore
Near the sorrowful Pillar of the World, right in the oldest corners of Greatwyrm’s Breach nests an ancient Coatl species guarded by the towering sandstone serpents.

Nobody can say for sure if the story is true, but at least the hatchlings seem to be eager to hear their origin story from time to time.

dune.png

Requirements
Breed: Wildclaw
Eyes: Earth or Light

Primary Gene: Cherub
Secondary Gene: Butterfly
Tertiary Gene: Glimmer

Primary Colors: Caramel
Secondary Colors: Ivory-Sunshine
Tertiary Colors: Buttercup

Lore
A Dune-Painted wildclaw's coloration mimics that of many of the different variegated species of butterflies that exist in the deserts of Dragonhome.

Lore
Elephant populations were declining all across Sornieth, and the Earthshaker just couldn’t bear to let something so big and so majestic (and so muddy) slip away. In Dragonhome, thanks to the conservation efforts of the Earthshaker and his acolytes, there is now a new protected home for the three species of Sornieth elephants. Elephants live peacefully, clearing paths for other dragons and enjoying frequent mudbaths. Even for Snappers, they have extraordinary memories - even more amazingly, Tundra-born Elephants have an equally long and detailed memory! While all share the same combination of genes, there are three distinct subtypes of Elephants.

African Elephants have brown-range primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries.
Asian Elephants have grey-range primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries.
Drunken Elephants have pink-range primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries.

Fortune-Fetching Fountains are a bit showy and love to impress with their intricately detailed stained-glass, gem, and shell works embedded in their wings.

Could you offer your services and bring these gorgeous creatures to life?"

The Tidelord pondered this inspiring idea (pun intended). He loved the idea of the fountains, but there was something he required. "Brother, they must be able to blow bubbles, or so help me."

"They shall," the Earthshaker agreed.

Lore:

A long long time ago in Dragonhome lived a young dragon couple who had three hatchlings.

You clearly aren't strong enough to get these souls back to an eternal rest..."

And as the sun started to rise, this undead horde of ancient souls started their journey with the lead of the once young male and his two children by his side, as the female was left to mourn into the shadows of Cairnstone Rest.

By the shores of a river far beneath Dragonhome, the Earthshaker called for stone to awaken. The ruins above answered. Statues, reliefs, and other carvings began to twist and change form, stepping down from their pedestals and walls to become living beings. Animated by the powers of a dragon god, these new creatures took the form of dragons - but their minds retained traits from the creatures they once represented. Silent, solitary Nocturnes. Bone-dry Bogsneaks. Spirals with the motionless patience of an ambush predator. Guardians who do not search and who claim no charge. Godtouched Statuary often have a hard time fitting in with mainstream dragon society, unless they can find a community willing to accept their oddities. In contrast, Godtouched Statuary are highly sought after by historians and archaeologists. This is because every statue awakens with the memory of a scene or event reflecting the carving they used to be. Interpreting this memory is difficult. The Godtouched are unable to provide context for the memory. Like the dragons themselves, the cast of characters may be modernized to reflect currently extant creatures. The events depicted may originally have been apocryphal, mythological, or propaganadist. Nevertheless, scarcity of sources makes the Godtouched irresistible to many scholars, despite the obvious difficulties. Some scholars have proposed an even more startling theory. The Tidelord also used great power in the region shortly before the Godtouched awakened. If that power were to also seep up to the ruins above, than some of these "memories" may actually be prophecies. Of course, if interpreting these memories as historical events is contentious, interpreting them as prophecies is even more so. Between their scholarly reception and their odd personalities, Godtouched Statuary are controversial figures who draw attention wherever they travel. (Created by LadyRaptor) Requirements Breed: Any Eyes: Any Primary Gene: Iridescent/Ripple/Crystal/Piebald/Giraffe Secondary Gene: Paint Tertiary Gene: Circuit, Contour, Runes Primary Colors: White Secondary Colors: Auburn - Sand Tertiary Colors: Auburn - Sand or White (XYY or XYX) Lore Stray spelunkers in Cairnstone may mistake these dragons for mere statues, but will quickly find themselves on the defensive should they disturb a Golem's charge. Golems tend to have humble origins, crafted from simple mud and magic. However legends tell that these particular Golems were crafted by the Earthshaker’s most skilled Exalts, with blessed clay from the Pillar of the World and the most exquisite gems for their eyes. They were gifted to the most loyal and powerful clans to guard their tombs and treasures in Cairnstone from would-be grave robbers long ago. However the ages have had their impact on the Golems, fading most of their once brilliantly painted bodies. Some have even developed what appears to be sentience in their solitude, starting up conversations with intruders instead of culling them, or even venturing out into the world of their own accord. Golems tend to fight almost solely with magic, but as skillful as they are this ability has its detriments. A golem cannot naturally replenish their magic like normal dragons, and so every spell slung takes from their lifespan. Should their magic be completely depleted, they will revert to their clay husk, beyond any mortal repair. This fate can thankfully be minimized by regular tune-up by your local golem-repair dragon. Requirements Breed: Mirror Eyes: Earth and Plague Primary Gene: Vipera or Tiger (Vipera preferred) Secondary Gene: Current or Peregrine Tertiary Gene: Crackle or Okapi Primary Colors: Beige or Stone Secondary Colors: Soil or Slate Tertiary Colors: Soil Lore Long ago, when mirrors first began migrating out of the Scarred Wasteland, they were frowned upon for carrying diseases, and thus outcasts in Dragonhome. They lived on the fringes of society and struggled to survive. Earthdaddy, being kind and loving to all the dragons, gave some mirrors in his domain colours and patterns that helped them survive. These mirrors flourished in dragonhome and were no longer avoided for fear of catching diseases. They became known for their exceptional immune system, scavenging and suspected thievery resourcefulness, and their appearance reminiscent of skeletons buried in the desert. These traits gave them the label of "grave robbers". Well, that and their habits of picking the pockets of the dead. As their disease spread and grew worse, they prayed more and more fervently to the Earthshaker for a cure. At last, the Earthshaker granted them their wish: Though their existing gembond would remain, it would no longer be a curse, but a blessing. He permanently halted the growth and spreading of their ailment, and changed the gems into true gemstones sparkling across their dirt-colored hides. Dragons born to Hidden Gem parents are born with gembond, but as they reach maturity, their gembond slows and crystallizes until it is like the blessing their forefathers were granted. Many dragons across Sornieth still avoid Hidden Gems for fear of becoming infected with gembond, but dragons who know better recognize Hidden Gems as steadfast and loyal friends and allies. All Hiddens Gems, regardless of their birth element, respect the Earthshaker for his gift to them and their posterity. Legend says that when the Earthshaker retreated to brood beneath the mountains, in his grief and sorrow he shed a waterfall of tears. These tears awoke the rocks in the mountain beneath him, and from them were borne countless Earth eggs. His true children, the Honorbound dragons, hatched from these eggs days later, and have been by his side ever since. However, these first eggs were not the first to be gifted the name Honorbound; from across Sornieth, dragons with certain colors and genes felt pulled towards Dragonhome as though by a string bound to their hearts. With a blessing from the Earthshaker, these dragons felt their eyes glow with the warmth and strength of Earth. They were molded, transformed into the Earthshaker’s own Snapper breed whom he loves more than any dragon on earth. These foreign dragons were enveloped beneath the Earthshaker’s mighty wings, and he offered them a home-often the first one these vagabonds had ever known. Of course, the Honorbound did not always choose to stay with their beloved diety. Whether in anger at the rest of the world who scorns the Earthshaker, or in earnest desire to spread the Earth dragon’s love for all of dragonkind, some dragons chose to leave their mountain home. They run for miles across arid deserts, tropical mazes, even plunging into the depths of the sea. They seek out those clans most worthy of the Earthshaker’s devotion and protection and make their homes there, preaching acceptance and unity for all Flights of Sornieth. What it is known is that Hourglasses have been around for as long as any old dragon can remember. They are very connected to the earth as an element, specially the sand and they can controll it to their will, cause sandstorms and even use it to travel across areas without the need to fly. Actually most of them preffer to do so. Besides their sand magic they are blessed by a long (very long) lifespan and some of the most ancient Hourglasses Dragons have visions of the past, present or future, that randomly comes to them. Not necessarily connected to someone they know, they can and will dream about random events (important or not). That is both a blessing and a curse in some dragons' eyes. Then the breaking of the Pillar buried some of these dead forests in stony rubble, where they compacted into coal seams. In areas still infused with left over energy from the Second Age cataclysm, such coal also developed opal deposits. Exaltation may be a great honor, but it severs dragons from their hatching families, and sometimes even from their original flight. Some Snappers, with their long memories, had trouble letting go of their grief. They wore jet gemstones as a sign of mourning - especially those with opal accents. They adorned themselves with as much jet as possible, carved deep mines in search of the perfect gems, and dug shelters and molting burrows out of the coal seams. Over time, trace amounts of jet and opal in their food and water sources built up internal and external deposits, catalyzed by reactive Second Age energies. These energies also altered their mental outlook. Exalted dragons are not unreachable, just farther away - and since all dragons are joined by the elements, why not visit? Jetstone dragons, in their wanderings, link exalts and their free clan families. They travel in a circuit that gets more complex with each lap, as an exalt's friends ask the Jetstone to take a message home to their families, who may have other exalted relatives, who have other exalted friends with their own families.... Their messengers never seem to mind, viewing all those they carry messages for as a sort of ever-growing family-by-proxy. Infused Jetstone dragons may even make a game of finding the shortest chain of connections between two dragons. In addition to carrying written messages, Jetstone Matrix dragons are among the few to regularly make an attempt at the native tongues of Coatl and Fae dragons. The general consensus is that their accents are terrible, but there's something endearing about the attempt. And a solid Snapper, precariously balanced on hind limbs and tail, attempting to use their wings as an expressive substitute for a Fae's head crest, is a sight to behold. Most such messages are, due to flight loyalties, carried between Earth flight dragons. But a Jetstone Matrix dragon has no objection to communicating with dragons of other flights. Other flights have been slower to trust the Jetstone's innate sense of neutrality and interconnectedness to all elements. The chance to communicate between long-separated family is a powerful lure though, so perhaps this stigma will fade with time. After the Obelisks were unearthed, some dragons felt called to protect all clans - not just their own - from the Unnamed Threat. They sought out deposits of opalized jetstone to intentionally induce the same metamorphosis that their Snapper cousins had previously undergone. Now bound to neutrality by oath and magic, they travel to offer their assistance to lairs across Sornieth. For now, that assistance largely takes the form of lair inspections and disaster preparedness planning. Someday soon, however, it may take a more martial form... Remnants of the once-bound gods' magic leaked through these fractures into the subterranean caverns beneath Dragonhome, seeping into layers of stone and sprawling aquifers, but into the bone and blood of the dragons who dwelt there. Perhaps they were shaped from the bedrock by the Earthshaker himself, as legends claim, or perhaps they carved their way ever downwards in search of ore, but these ancient Snappers' descendants dwell amidst the ironstone of those caverns today. Like all Infused Opals, these dragons were steadily altered by their surroundings. They drank from subterranean aquifers laced with myriad dissolved minerals and potent magic from before the dawn of dragonkind. Slowly, particle by particle, scale by scale, these dragons were transformed as the ironstone recrystallized within their bodies, and traces of silica carried by water trickling beneath Dragonhome built up in opalescent deposits on their scales. When their kin on the surface ventured down to their abode, they were delighted and astonished to discover Snappers like themselves whose scales were made of living rock and shimmered like precious gems. Some were rough of hide like walking boulders torn from their outcrops, while others were smooth and shone like polished cabochons. Because they have dwelt beneath Dragonhome for years unnumbered, the paths trodden by nomadic Ironstone Matrix clans wind through caverns untouched by the warming sun. Far below the mountains, rivers, and other landmarks of the surface, these Snappers do not concern themselves overmuch with trivial matters like clan boundaries. Other deep-dwellers know of them, and let them be, for they are generally peaceful and eager to share their stories and trade what they have found on their journeys with their brethren. While Ironstone Matrices are concentrated in the far north of Sornieth, throughout the long march of time they have slowly but surely spread far and wide beneath the surface of the planet. In the minds of some, this conjures up images of Snappers with eyes of all colors who still haven't realized they aren't in the Earthshaker's territory anymore, but Ironstone Matrix clans outside of Dragonhome always know where they're going. They have to, in order to accomplish their duty for their flight. For these dragons are predominantly diplomats and arbiters, speaking with far-flung clans on behalf of their Earth brethren. When the Obelisks were carved by the Earthshaker, the majority were placed to await the coming of the Dustcarve expedition, beneath ancient cities and beside a swift subterranean river. But a few more were nestled in crystalline alcoves farther down the winding path of that river, set in deep places that the Ironstone Snappers had traversed in ages past. These scattered Obelisks were discovered by their deep-dwelling elder kin, and easily integrated into their wandering clans to expand the range and depth of the territory that the Earthshaker's younger children could protect. In scarce few generations the members of these opalescent arbiter-clans were comprised of both kinds of the Earthshaker's creations.

Lore
Stray spelunkers in Cairnstone may mistake these dragons for mere statues, but will quickly find themselves on the defensive should they disturb a Golem's charge.

Lore
Long ago, when mirrors first began migrating out of the Scarred Wasteland, they were frowned upon for carrying diseases, and thus outcasts in Dragonhome.

Lore
The original Hidden Gem dragons had a strong connection to the Earthshaker when they were first afflicted with the gembond.

Requirements
Breed: Snapper
Eyes: Earth

Primary Gene: Speckle
Secondary Gene: Freckle
Tertiary Gene: Crackle or Gembond

Primary Colors: Stone
Secondary Colors: Slate
Tertiary Colors: Brown

Lore
Bearing not only the Earthshaker’s colors but his frightening, glorious visage as well, these Honorbound dragons exist solely to care for the Earthshaker in his lonely underground domain.

Lore
Little is known about the Hourglasses' origins, they say that they were born from the very sands by the Earthshaker's will but no one knows if that is all truth.

Lore
The battles between Plaguebringer and Gladekeeper left entire forests to rot.

Lore:

When the Second Age crumbled into the foundations of the Third Age, and the Pillar was broken, the fractures in the great memorial tore down through its base in the depths of the world.
