Parents speak of a long gone dragon; whose hunger for gold was never sated, one who stole, cheated and betrayed all those around him for his own gain. His hoard of gold was unimaginable, for he never spared a single coin for those in need. Despite having heaps of gold, the dragon still wished for more. Consumed by his desire for gold, he turned to magic, seeking out the most powerful magic users in the land to aid him. When the eldest witch in the land greeted him, he laughed, disbelieving “[i]such an old crone[/i]” would be powerful enough to “[i]Make him gold.[/i]” Scorned, the witch rasped.”[i]Be careful what you wish for...I will make [b]you[/b] gold.[/i]” The dragon returned to his lair, unsettled but he tried to banish the old witch's words from his mind. Now, despite his selfishness and greed, the dragon did indeed have a mate, and surprisingly he loved her dearly. When it was soon time for their eggs to hatch, the dragon kept watch over them, but as he waited, he counted coins, and soon he fell asleep. When he awoke, it was to an indescribable pain. He writhed in agony, his screaming waking his sleeping mate, who let out a horrified gasp as she caught sight of him. His scales, once dark as night, were quickly being consumed by gold. It creeped across his scales, stiffening his limbs till he was unable to move, till he was but just a still and silent golden statue. The witch had promised to make [i][b]him[/b][/i] gold after all. Parents implore their children to heed this story's warning; but it is not just an old fairy-tale, one told to hatchlings in hopes they will become charitable and kind. You see, there have been rumours spread all throughout Sornieth; rumours of dragons that wake one day to find their scales have turned to pure gold. No one is quite sure if perhaps these dragons are descendants of the one who cursed, or if they too are being punished for their supposed greed... ~ [/center] [center][size=6][b]GENERAL INFO[/b][/center] [left][size=4]Hello!! This is the hub for my subspecies “Gold Touched” Dragons. Inspired by the myth of King Midas who wished for everything he touched to turn to gold, these dragons have begun to turn to gold themselves!! No one is quire sure why dragons suddenly become Gold Touched, the most popular rumours are that they are very distant descendent of the greedy dragon from the story, or that perhaps its a sign they are secretly selfish and this is a punishment. Regardless of the reason, these dragons are a new and rare subspecies, so they are highly sought after by those who are obsessed with gold. The guidelines for owning a Gold Touched dragon are as loose as possible, with the only thing that matters being the genes/colours. You're free to be as creative as you want with your Gold Touched dragons; did they leave their old life behind? were they hunted? Do they hide their gold body with apparel? Have they gone in search for a cure or others like them? Anything is possible!! Some general information/trivia about the species as whole before we get into variant requirements!! [/left][left][LIST] [*]Being Gold Touched - unlike in the story- doesn’t cause them any pain or turn them to immovable statues. [*]Gold Touched Dragons have an affinity for rare metals and gemstones, and they are incredibly good at discovering lost treasures (like a metal detector!) [*]Gold Touched Dragons are considered extremely rare and beautiful - so much in fact that they are often hunted down by those who see them as objects and wish to use them to find treasure or keep them as living trophies. This has caused many Gold Touched Dragons to go into hiding for their own safety. [*]Gold Touched dragons that breed find even their hatchlings have a chance of being gold touched. [*]Dragons that don’t have much knowledge on Embellished Gold Dragons (or don’t care for that matter)have tried to pry the gold from their body, but it won’t budge - no matter how hard one pulls- and hurts the dragon they belong to. [*]Coated Gold Touched dragons conduct heat and electricity more than any other variant, so they are the best heaters for when things get cold and you need to keep warm. [*] Kintsugi Gold Touched dragons are generally the ones that blend in the most and avoid trouble as seeing as their gold is more subtle than other variants. Especially when their scales are naturally yellow/orange. However they still attract attention if they are naturally very dark or very pale.
