Makoto demonstrates the importance of following laboratory safety procedures and using the correct PPE when tossing random garbage into a bonfire because you're too big to fit into the clan's cauldron room. Yes, he's wearing two pairs of goggles. No, it didn't help.

Monoceros, despite her love for magic and potion making, is quite inept at it. She came to the Sombre Shade to learn from the High Priestess, Aural. Despite being her apprentice, she doesn't quite have the knack for magic that the guardian does. Virtually every magical accident in the lair is Monoceros' doing. She even accidentally created a slimey clone of herself, Laspi.
[i]In her cauldron was slime she had collected from the wyrmwound, bright blue mushrooms from the tangled wood, and patches of brown fur-like mold. The concoction bubbled up, almost seeming to smile at her. She was taken aback by the horrible grin in the muck, and jumped away, resulting in slipping and hitting her head on the cauldron. Blood dripped from her nose, and before she could catch it, into the muck.
