Moonbiter has quite a story. I had no idea what I was doing. I thought he was cute. Anyway I had no idea that male Ridgebacks grew up to have s n o o t and when he grew up I was like "...oh". But for whatever reason it didn't occur to me to exalt him? I'm glad it didn't but it's weird that I never did it. I just put a hat on him. And then it dawned on me: [i]Male Ridgebacks look cool in hats.[/i] And so began the quest for The Fanciest Hat. He started with a fedora, and that wasn't bad. Then he graduated to a Squire's Beret. Even better. It had a feather sticking up and everything. THEN I discovered the cavalier hats and, well, that was that - he was staying. For Halloween I used the hat as inspiration and dressed him up as a pirate (I was still new and could not have gotten the [i]actual[/i] pirate stuff yet), complete with my first piece of gem apparel, a bird that [i]sits on the snoot[/i]. The outfit stuck and has only changed slightly ever since. I have grown to love the snoot. I have grown to love Moonbiter. ---- Also before ancient breeds were released I didn't think I would have many in my lair because I love dressing up my dragons too much and in the past haven't been able to justify not putting at least one apparel item on everything. Now I have three: a Gaoler and two Banescales. Gaoler lore combined with the Hibernal Den happened to neatly solve a problem I'd been trying to figure out in my own lore, and I just think Banescales are cool. Moonbiter has quite a story.

He comes from my first days on the site, when I was in the AH every few days going "OOH LOOK NEW DARGON" - mostly hatchlings because they're the cheapest. I had no idea what I was doing. I thought he was cute.

Bought him as triple-basic fodder, noticed his ID! It was kind of cool, so I wanted to sell him, so I did a few scries. …He is now gened up and I love him.

I bought this boy when I was looking for big Imperials! He was the biggest on the AH that I could find at the time, so I bought him. I later found a bigger Imperial, but I found I'd gotten attached to this one already despite his not particularly gorgeous looks. So they're both in my lair now.

(he was all basic at the time)

And the rest is history xD i've spent so much money on Susan, who i was originally planning on exalting :'D he still needs his tert gene, but i'll get there eventually pfft

I have a couple dragons like that! First boy is Beowulf! He is certainly not a dragon everyone might find pretty, but once I saw him I just bought without hesitating. He was 15kt, so not totally fodder priced, I was just looking at dragons on the AH for no real reason, maybe trying to find something to add to my lair and I found him! I instantly took a liking to him and dressed him up, gave him some lore and stuff too! [s]though it might be outdated[/s] A while after I had him, I actually got a message from the owner of his grandfather - they were checking on their hatchlings' lineage and were so happy he seemed to be in a good home with me, and that just filled my heart with warm fuzzy feelings so I know I'll be keeping him for a good, long time. I adore his dark coloring with his bright eyes, he hangs around my other "menacing" looking dragons in the lair but he's actually a pretty nice guy! I have a couple dragons like that!
