Hey ya'll, I've just started my first breeding project for an arcane sub-species of Fae I'd like to create. They're called Arcanum Investigators- though I'm not totally invested in that name, feel free to suggest something different!
So I'm going for both edges of my color ranges right now to create a pair that can cover all of my range for the subspecies.
So far I've picked two sets of possible grandparents, maybe great-grandparents, since I'm having difficulty finding pairs in the right ranges & definitely not a lot of faes in the right range. I'm trying out the Pyramid method described in Ganondorf's Breeding Guide found here.
- Collectors and investigators of mysterious phenomenon and arcane powers
-They carry tomes filled with all their research and details of the phenomena they've seen.
-Often they collect crystals, rocks, fauna and flora, and insects related to their research and keep them in glass bottles.
-They are intensely studious and tend to hyper focus on their projects and research
-Many find jobs as researchers in unique places, such as the Observatory. Here they act as task managers and organizers working under the guidance of Space Dad (The Arcanist)
-Some are independent scientists, trying to unlock the secrets of phenomena across Sornieth, However they are rarely seen outside of the Starfall Isles
This is really the first major breeding project I've been turned on to since I started playing flight rising, especially since there doesn't seem to be a massive number of fae in this color range & it matches the ideas I have for an arcane fae I recently bought from another Arcanite.
If you are interested in breeding or have a dragon with a very close range I'd love to know! Also, if you already have a fae matching my sub-species please consider reaching out to me and seeing if we can flesh out some more official and interesting lore for your dragon's bio!
The range goals for the sub-species are:
Metallic/Constellation/Filigree
Primary: Orca-Plum
Secondary: Strawberry-Pearl
Tertiary: Magenta-Dust

First I'm trying for the right side, Plum/Pearl/Dust:

So far the lore for this species is just starting to get fleshed out, but here are the bullet points:
