Arrival at the AEGIS

Welcome, friends and travelers alike, to the Archive of Existing G1 Sales.
Here we seek to provide a database of first generation dragon sales, auctions, and offer threads. The goal of this archival system is to help provide hard to find, and otherwise inaccessible information on pricing and value on G1 dragons to the greater flight rising community, and not just those involved in the g1 hoarding collective.

Some information, such prior auctions or sales have been notoriously difficult to track down or gauge in the past. With AEG1S, we hope to be able to provide a sound history of dragon sales so that anyone, G1 hoarder or newbie, can get a solid grasp on what their dragon may be worth, as to serve as a shield against lowballing and underselling dragons.

......NOTE: At the moment we are primarily cataloging more historically expensive types of G1 dragons, known as “Doubles” and “Triples”. -- In the future, we hope to develop sheets for both XYZ, and possible G1 primals, once we get a good footing in the first two subsets.

What’s inside it? Well, to no one's surprise, it's another dragon. Albeit a small, baby dragon- but there’s a catch to anything that comes out of an “Unhatched Egg” - they will have no parents. No traces to any other dragon or creature on the site. That is what makes them so unique- and potentially valuable. These dragons, First Generations, also known as “G1” or “GenOnes”, are revered and sought after because of this trait, by casual player and collector alike. They are like your Progens, but are not custom made, and require luck of the draw to get any specific color combination of Primary/Secondary/Tertiary. Some G1s are literally born unlike any others, and this is because of RNG randomizing your colors. Most newlyborn G1 dragons will have what is known as an “XYZ” pattern, where every color on the dragon is different, as the chances of landing on three separate colors is immense. However, in some cases, you might see a pattern like these: To which, congratulations! You've hatched quite a rare dragon. Doubles, which refer to the repeating colors in this instance, are not too easy to hatch. They come in three different variants: XXY, XYY, and XYX, where within the "X" is the base prime color, and "Y" is the second color. Moving forward from here is entirely up to you. The options are either keeping your hatch in celebration, or selling to make some sweet dragon $$$. If you do decide to sell, there are a few things to keep in mind: With only two colors to contend with, doubles can easily be hit or miss, given what two you get. Taste and quality is subjective, and one man's trash can often be another man's treasure. However, there is still a typical baseline on what a double is worth, regardless of personal preference. A general rule of thumb is that XYY and XXY are often considered to be the more expensive and popular variants of doubles, with XYX seen at a lesser value and considerably less sought after. While the market is more niche for xyx dragons, it does not mean it will be impossible to sell. If you, perchance, happen to hatch a G1 will all three colors the same... You've won flight rising! That's a 0.003% dragon chance and it's worth a hefty fortune. More often than not, sellers new to G1s accept deals offering far less than what their dragon is actually worth. Before accepting any private inquiries, take the time to see if you actually want to sell your dragon, and consider doing some of the options below. [*]Make an interest & price check! A good way to gauge what your dragon may be worth or how much interest it has is by making a Interest Check thread in dragon share. Using the G1 Hoarders Pinglist, notify people who want to be aware that the dragon is up for grabs (for this, you'd want to use the General pinglist) - the more people who know, the more likely you'll find possible buyers, and get a good idea for a price! [*]Know the lingo (and language)! Some general knowledge for dealing with G1 dragons is to know the way around them. When people use "g" at the end of a number, like 2,000g- that refers to Gems [emoji=gem size=1] the flight rising premium currency, not Treasure [emoji=treasure size=1], which is "t". When the suffix "k" is added to the end of the number (re: 10kg), this actually means thousand. 10kg equals 10,000g, and 2kg is 2,000g, etc. This is important when dealing with collectors, who commonly use this kind of lingo! [*]Get a load of interest? Set up an auction! If you have a dragon with interest via a possible thread, or even PMs, it's more than likely two or more players will want to duke it out to try and win the dragon. In this case, your best bet is to make a formal auction thread for your dragon. If you are not comfortable or familiar with this, there are Auctioning Services who can run it for you instead. [*]When it doubt, don't use an Auto Buy. Undervaluing or thinking you'll put the dragon up "for too much" can often lead to the dragon being sold for under it's potential value. If you feel this is the case, don't set an autobuy at the start of the auction, and don't list the dragon on the AH for an "autobuy price" unless you're 100% sure, as someone can claim it from the very get go. [*]ALWAYS ping the hoarders! Pinging is basically networking for your dragon. If G1 hoarders and collectors don't get pinged, there's a chance we won't know your dragon exists. You can find the pinglists at the Gen1 Hoarders Association! [*]Rather not auction? Sell on the AH, or find a private buyer. If you opt to sell but don't want to auction, don't fret! There are other ways to sell dragons besides auctioning. If you got tips on a price range from your interest/price check, you will have a good baseline at what to sell for normally on the Auction House. Alternatively, if players have contacted you via PM, you could also work out a private deal. If you do want to auction, though, and just can't do it yourself, ask around for a proxy auctioneer! There are several people in the community who would be more than willing to get an auction set up and running for you.
Tips for selling G1 Double dragons:
  • Be wary of selling immediately after hatching!
Many people stalk the dragon search for nice doubles and are quick to make offers when a hatchling pops up. More often than not, sellers new to G1s accept deals offering far less than what their dragon is actually worth. Before accepting any private inquiries, take the time to see if you actually want to sell your dragon, and consider doing some of the options below.
  • Make an interest & price check!
  • Know the lingo (and language)!
Some general knowledge for dealing with G1 dragons is to know the way around them. When people use "g" at the end of a number, like 2,000g- that refers to Gems the flight rising premium currency, not Treasure , which is "t". When the suffix "k" is added to the end of the number (re: 10kg), this actually means thousand. 10kg equals 10,000g, and 2kg is 2,000g, etc. This is important when dealing with collectors, who commonly use this kind of lingo!
  • Get a load of interest? Set up an auction!
If you have a dragon with interest via a possible thread, or even PMs, it's more than likely two or more players will want to duke it out to try and win the dragon. In this case, your best bet is to make a formal auction thread for your dragon. If you are not comfortable or familiar with this, there are Auctioning Services who can run it for you instead.
  • When it doubt, don't use an Auto Buy.
  • ALWAYS ping the hoarders!
Pinging is basically networking for your dragon. If G1 hoarders and collectors don't get pinged, there's a chance we won't know your dragon exists. You can find the pinglists at the Gen1 Hoarders Association!
  • Rather not auction? Sell on the AH, or find a private buyer.
If you opt to sell but don't want to auction, don't fret! There are other ways to sell dragons besides auctioning. If you got tips on a price range from your interest/price check, you will have a good baseline at what to sell for normally on the Auction House. Alternatively, if players have contacted you via PM, you could also work out a private deal. If you do want to auction, though, and just can't do it yourself, ask around for a proxy auctioneer! I would like to extend an ENORMOUS thanks to everyone who helped contribute to this project and made it possible!

@Effervessa, without whom we would not have our incredible spreadsheets and submission forms, and the infrastructure for the majority of this project- and for being, in general, the bestest bean. ;)

Both @bitmap and @Marceline for being a part of this project from the very get go, contributing amazing ideas and helping to not only build aegis up from the ground, but research, find and fill out information and flesh out the project. Without aster's constant use of the braincell and Marce's super heckin rad ideas (and awesome art, might I add), I would've been very lost Lol

@Auries, for troubleshooting and bug-catching, and being one of the first to submit dragons!

@cowl, who submitted the name of AEG1S during our initial polling <3 The name was too great to pass up and was an instant hit.

@Momica, who helped Effie work on the spreadsheets! Together they make one function spreadsheets wizard!

@Xairathan im so sorry we didn't use hotdog; please forgive me and thank u for putting up with us

To which, I think I can answer your first question lol: We are the Archive of Existing G1 Dragon Sales, dedicated to recording and tracking both public and private G1 dragon sales, auctions, offer threads, and otherwise. For the past few weeks, a small team has been working on making the resource we never seemed to have for the G1 community: any sort of public price checker, or any way for a new player, or perhaps someone getting back into g1s, to see what their dragons may be worth. With the influx of new g1s being hatched, it never seemed like a better time to push this forward to completion! ... but, we're not done quite yet. We need your help! There are countless dragons that need cataloging, and we won't be able to do it alone. So we're putting out the call: are you a g1 collector? Are you specialized in G1 doubles or triples? Would you be willing to contribute some of your dragon information, so that others may be able to learn from it? If the answer to all of those is Yes, here is the submission form for dragons! Starting from January 2017 and Onward, we are accepting all historical sales, auctions, and offer threads (even private sales, so long as you remember what you spent! lol) Please use this form to submit only XXY, XYY, and XYX dragons.
