@BotanyBlack You think Dave would fit in on this thread? I'm not sure if he would or not but he's the first dragon I thought of when I saw this. I have a couple odd finds, mostly from my newbie days when every dragon was cool because they're DRAGONS!!!! My weirdest might be Moonbiter. [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=15233079] [img]https://flightrising.com/rendern/350/152331/15233079_350.png[/img] [/url] I bought him as a hatchling and did not initially realize that, well, his nose would grow :P So when he first grew up I was a little disappointed, actually. But then I realized something that saved him: [i]Male Ridgebacks look amazing in fancy hats.[/i] And so began the quest for the Fanciest Hat. His first hat was a red fedora, which Tannie (another oddball who I'll share in a sec) now wears. His second was a Squire's Beret, now worn beautifully by his neighbor [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=15208334]Lenka[/url]. And then I found the cavalier hats, and I was sold. Then I dressed him up like a pirate for Halloween (this being my first Halloween on the site and me still learning the ropes, I wasn't even fully aware of the existence of Actual Pirate Apparel and definitely wasn't going to buy some) and that's been his outfit ever since. (Oh, and the name Moonbiter? Wasn't even originally intended to be funny. I got it from the randomizer, and I thought it fit because of the way his Clown made his face lighter.) I'm still not big on male Ridgebacks in general - it's hard for me to take them seriously - but recently, another one snuck into my lair, with somehow even weirder colors and genes: [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=56940870] [img]https://flightrising.com/rendern/350/569409/56940870_350.png[/img] [/url] His name is Ethan, I got him from a friend's Pinkerlocke, and the lore potential for him was just SO GOOD I could not resist. One of my favorite dragons is Basic and I wouldn't consider her an oddball. I'm not even sure I could pinpoint why I consider Tannie an oddball, she just... is. Also, I love her just the way she is, especially with her accent and stuff, but I dare you to find a scry for her that makes her look bad. Especially keeping her a Fae. Ooh, ooh, actually, one of my favorite dragons EVER is kind of an oddball! Meet Riverwanderer: [url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=15204058] [img]https://flightrising.com/rendern/350/152041/15204058_350.png[/img] [/url] It wasn't too strange at the time to find dragons with no tert gene, I actually have a couple, but anymore it's not super common even in fodder. It's a decent tert considering his general theme, too, and there's some decent genes out there that would keep the theme, but I'd rather keep his look as-is. And his colors?? Are so bizarre if you think about them too much?? The two colors he's showing are two of the least-liked colors on the site (although I do like Stonewash a lot, personally) and they're not two I would ever consciously put together in a scry but in this [i]particular[/i] combination, on this [i]particular[/i] dragon, they meld perfectly into a perfect emulation of a sun-dappled river with silty banks.

I saw these two babies (around 6,000-7,000 T each - no doubt they were destined for the deities!) and I snatched them up wondering how someone could sell such beauties for something so low. I don't know what it was about them - it was day one or two of playing back in 2016, and I just adored their colours! I also had an unhealthy obsession with Mirrors. :P Looking at them now, I don't think I'd ever buy dragons that look like them (I tend to avoid both Clown and Cherub completely), but these girls will always have a home in my Lair. They remind me of that magical time when all the genes were new to me. I didn't even know how to work the scrying workshop, so every baby was a mystery back then until it finally grew up. I remember when they both became adults - I was so excited to finally see their true colours. I thought they were so pretty, and I felt like some kind of amazing dragon dad watching his kiddos grow up. ;w; I still think they're beautiful, but my tastes have certainly grown. I guess I like looking back on those times and seeing how excited I got over the smallest things on FR. I love my Originals so much!

A newer one to the lair but I'm so glad I snapped him up. Outfit isn't even nearly done but it doesn't matter, he's doing just fine without. oh, smallmountain is so precious!! i love the art in his bio [emoji=snapper love size=1] idk why, probably the unconventional name, but smallmountain reminds me of my girl StoneWall (not Stonewall like the place, StoneWall like... a wall of stone..) [center][url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=5021751] [img]https://flightrising.com/rendern/350/50218/5021751_350.png[/img] [/url][/center] this is clover. she's my most favorite flower child, and also my deepest curse. she was one of my first dragons, bought for fodder in the wind AH. she's the daughter of someone's progens and is (at least by newbie standards) ANCIENT. she's actually about 5 weeks younger than smallmountain! i couldn't stand to see her exalted after such a long life, but she's stuck out like a sore thumb in my lair ever since. :/ i even exalted her myself at one point cause i was frustrated about not being able to find her an outfit, but immediately brought her back. i've changed her genes, given her a custom accent, and put her in charge of my wishlist so she isn't as much of an outlier, but she's still just.... there. being a huge, goofy, incredibly bright flower. [center][url=https://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=36223146] [img]https://flightrising.com/rendern/350/362232/36223146_350.png[/img] [/url][/center] III came from the first egg i ever found, so i was determined to keep them, but my first thought while scrying them was "ew they look like they're covered in mold." that ended up inspiring their lore and whole aesthetic, which is that of a symbiote formed by an arcane alien fungus. they're never gonna get picked in any lair games, but i'm actually v proud of how they turned out!
