The direct descendants of the original Starshrike Clan, they have the most intense blue wing markings with matching blue eyes. Greater Starshrikes have the biggest wings of all variants of Starshrike. Greater Starshrikes also have the most powerful of storm magic. This variant nearly always returns to the Aviary to nest, or If they lay their eggs elsewhere, they always transport them to the safety of the aviary to hatch.

Lesser Starshrikes are the result of two different situations.
The first possible outcome that leads to lesser Starshrikes is that a Greater Starshrike took a mate that was not of the original clan. The result of this pairing is a Starshrike with a smaller wingspan and less control over their storm magic.
The other way that A lesser Starshrike can be made is that a Stormshrike dared to make the difficult crossing flight from Sornieth to the Aviary during a natural storm. Upon arriving, they complete a ritual to unlock the abilities that lay dormant within them and may transform into A Starshrike. *
(*For more information on this ritual see Stormshrike section )
however regardless of which type of Lesser Starshrike they are, they are always carefully trained before being allowed to meet other Starshrikes, especially Greater Starshrikes, as they may be challenged, either through a fight or a race, both of which require great physical strength.

The Brilliant Starshrikes are the rarest of all Starshrikes, a newly discovered variation on the breed that has only begun occurring since the Bounty of the Elements. Though what causes a Brilliant Starshrike to be born is largely unknown the phenomenon is extremely rare. From what has been observed of Brilliant Starshrikes, they manifest only storm magic, though it is much more unstable and more powerful than average storm magic. Newly gathered information also notes that the abnormalities in their appearance is linked to over-exposure to their birth element, resulting in differing appearances across this variant. They have been sorted into light and dark variants based off their main body plumage color.
A warning to all Starshrike parents that find a Brilliant in their nests: Their variant of Storm magic may manifest in unusual ways!
Stormshrikes

Stormshrikes are born when Lesser Starshrikes take mates amongst dragons. The result is Wildclaws born with slightly larger wingspans than average, with scales that crackle with storm magic. Though Stormshrikes cannot call the normal storm magic, they can summon weak lightning bolts in the color of their birth element. The coloration of a Stormshrike is a give away to how closely related to its Starshrike ancestors it is. The closer the relation the more closely related it is to a Starshrike, with the most closely related Stormshrikes resembling Starshrikes, but with smaller wings that show lightning markings instead of stars. The lightning markings on a Stormshrike’s wings begin to glow when it prepares to discharge it’s lightning attack.
The Ascent
The Ascent is a ritual that only the bravest of Stormshrikes attempt. To begin the Ascent, a Stormshrike must fly from its home to the edge of the Shifting Expanse where it fasts until a storm blows across the Unnamed Sea. When a storm blows in, the Stormshrike must make the flight to the Aviary through the weather. Upon arriving they ascend to the sanctuary, awaiting them in a courtyard at the highest point of the Sanctuary there is a pillar of dull grey crystal which they must channel their storm magic into for one day and one night. If they can maintain the flow of magic for a full day and night, the Unnamed God will judge them. If they are found worthy, they will wake the next day as a Lesser Starshrike

Starguard Shrikes are a type of Starshrike born with an extraordinary amount of storm magic, so much so that it physically manifests as lightning, regardless of the elemental alignment of the Shrike, and alters their appearance. Starguards lack the wing-spot markings seen on other types of Starshrikes and instead are marked by veins of bright blue scales. These scales are highly conductive and are often seen crackling with lightning. Starguards are also born with heightened protective instincts, though not always towards themselves or another dragon. This behavior is similar to the connection between a Guardian dragon and it's charge, however a Starguard's protective instinct may shift it's focus as the dragon ages or it's life changes. Starguards are also more suited to combat than other Starshrikes, with smaller but more powerful wings, that allow for easier maneuvering while still having the power to navigate difficult wind currents with ease.
Starfae

Skink/Constellation/Peacock-Beetle-Diaphanous-Mop
Any eyetype
|
First spotted in the Aviary by a Starguard patrol, these veilspun seem to have taken on an appearance mimicking that of the shrikes and are able to manifest small amounts of storm magic in their element. They are considerably smaller than Shrikes and some members of the subspecies have begun to adopt them and train them to become more proficient in their storm magic, as their small size and ability to fly very quickly make them considerable warriors when properly trained. They have also have some unique traits that are not found in other types of shrikes such as:
Peacock-
These Starfae most closely resemble their larger kin, both in their overall appearance and in the manifestation of their storm magic. However the Starfae with these markings tend to be more inclined to stay at the Aviary and observe the Shrikes rather than interact directly.
Beetle-
Starfae who have developed a thick protective shell over their wings, they are slower than their kin who lack this protective covering however they are also more resistant to physical attacks, they are very popular companions for members of the Starguard for this reason.
Diaphanous-
these delicate looking starfae have several sets of additional wings though the majority are purely decorative. They are popular companions to brilliant starshrikes, they are the fastest and most agile of the starfae, due to their larger secondary wings found just above their primary wings which allow them to pull off tighter maneuvers
Mop-
These Starfae have spent the majority of their life growing out their manes to truly impressive lengths, the weight of their manes makes it difficult for them to fly but also makes it easier for them to read the twisting currents of the wind above the Unnamed Sea. This makes them popular weather watchers for many Clans around the unnamed sea and beyond.

Starcrows are the result of one of two unusual circumstances occurring and as such are considered "Common Starcrows" or "Charged Starcrows" depending on which of the circumstances lead to the Starcrow's existence.
Common Starcrows(Rune Tertiary, No level Requirement)
Common Starcrows are the more frequently sighted type of Starcrow. They are the offspring of an Effluvial Crow and a Starshrike. Due to the territorial range of Starshrikes and Effluvial Crows covering different regions, it is rare to see such a pairing, and rarer still to see their offspring, though such dragons do exist. Common Starcrows boast the impressive wingspan of a greater Starshrike, and a slightly less potent strain of the Effluvial Virus. While their larger wingspans tend to make them clumsier in a fight then their Effluvial Crow relatives, They are still a challenging opponent to face. Until Recently it was thought that Common Starcrow children could only be produced by Greater Starshrikes and True Effluvial Crows, however the discovery of Nightsky Starcrows and Albino Starcrows have since disproven this theory.
Charged Starcrows(Veined Tertiary, level 20 +)
Charged Starcrows are not true hybrids, like Common Starcrows. but rather are the result of a Starshrike becoming infected by the Effluvial Virus. Unlike many types of dragons found around Sornieth, the Starshrikes are not only driven into a rage by the virus, it is also extremely lethal to them. The Effluvial Virus is believed to decrease the Starshrike's resistance to it's own storm magic, causing them to short themselves out, leaving them mostly unprotected from physical and magical attack. The virus also causes an extremely high fever, and sense of confusion, leaving a Starshrike unable to tell which way is up or down when flying. Only the Strongest of Starshrikes can survive a brush with the virus, and those who do gain the bright red wings of an Effluvial crow, as well as the body markings. They can be differentiated from a true crow as their wings still bear the starry markings of a Starshrike, and lack the "wing eye" of an Effluvial Crow. Their Storm magic will eventually return, usually about two weeks after the initial infection has healed, although their magic is erratic and changed. A Charged Stormcrow's magic most often takes the form of bright red lightning that snaps from their claws and teeth, and carries a diluted form of the Effluvial Virus that causes confusion and a low fever. Charged Stormcrows may also have an increased affinity towards physical combat after they have healed.
In both types of Starcrows, Maroon or Cherry wings are prized. In common Starcrows, it often indicates a stronger connection to their Starshrike Parent. In Charged Starcrows, such a coloring indicates that they were infected by a weaker strain of Effluvial Virus, or by a Common Starcrow, and have a greater chance of surviving the initial infection.

Modified Starshrikes were created when FL/GHT came across a nest of lesser starshrike eggs abandoned in the Southern Icefield. They raised the young Starshrikes as members of FL/GHT until they were driven by curiosity from meeting other Starshrikes to go visit the Aviary. Though many of the elder Starshrikes insisted they remain at the Aviary for training, the Modified Starshrikes wanted to return to their adopted family and aid FL/GHT's cause. An agreement was made that the Modified Starshrikes could stay, and return to help FL/GHT if they were needed.
Though they are very much like normal Lesser Starshrikes, Modified Starshrikes have taken on the habit of using FL/GHT technology to augment their existing skills with Storm magic and flying to even greater levels, despite this earning Disapproval from Greater Starshrikes and the Starguards, who see it as disrespectful to the Unnamed God.
