There are expansive, interlaced canopies of old fruit trees, ancient oaks, and swaying willows that loom above the water. The air is filled with the warm scent of flowers and fruit while bees and dragonflies hum past on iridescent wings.
The gardens are well kept and it is easy to miss the hidden doors tucked away upon stone walls and obscured by overgrown foliage. It seems impossible that they could lead anywhere as many of the doors are positioned upon walls only a foot wide or carved into the surface of tree trunks. Indeed, many visitors simply brush them off as decoration and walk past without a second thought.
Those who look carefully, however, realize that the Garden of Doors is an usual place. There are plants growing here that are unknown to the rest of Sornieth and strange, amorphous creatures that appear to flicker in the corner of an eye. It is a place where the fabric between realities wears thin and occasionally overlaps to form a rift to another dimension or reality marked by a strange door. The gardeners who reside here work tirelessly to maintain the rifts, studying the strange flora and fauna that come through them and seed the garden with life. New rifts open from time to time and there are drakes tasked with exploring them and cataloging the unknown worlds beyond. New doors are erected once the rift has been explored - some are open as passages for travel while others are sealed and locked with magic to keep things out. . . or in.
