Like the one I have in plan is a scaleless hive, where the drones and such have no protective chitin plating; just skin [i]example of a scaleless assimilator[/i] [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/60266531][img]https://www1.flightrising.com/rendern/350/602666/60266531_350.png[/img][/url] The genes are: Iridescent Obsidian Shimmer Obsidian (Tert is whatever type of drone it is) Their lack of chitin leaves these creatures almost completely defenseless. They have to travel in groups of two to help prevent from being killed, and are never sent to assimilate large foes (such as a Gladebeast).

New member here! I really fell in love with the concept of this species and instantly knew I wanted one in my lair. I have now become the Master of a potential hijacker. He can see perfectly fine through them...but so could his Master. Which would be useful if he became a privateer hijacker. More eyes mean he could mean extra aware of his surroundings. The eyes see all? lol @M42 Just wondering...Can a privateer hijacker steal other hijackers and then add them to their own little private unit? The thought of an established Hive having a unit made up of a group of hijackers following the lead of a group commander sounds like it has horrifying potential. Especially if the original masters created hijackers with specific abilities or traits added to their genetics. One hive could turn a full infiltration unit's attention on to an enemy hive and if you've got multiple units working together that could mean even more drones being stolen at faster rates.

@Phantasmagorica The lore is pretty flexible, so the most accurate answer is 'anything goes if you can reasonably explain it,' but if I had to determine anything specific, I'd say that it would definitely be possible canonically. Larger hives often have a central consciousness with a cadre of privateer hijackers beneath them, serving as 'sub-consciousnesses' that handle the logistics of one specific part of the hive. Given that hijackers are basically just retro-engineered consciousnesses, there's no reason why a sufficiently advanced hijacker couldn't do anything a standard consciousness could, like commanding around subservient hijackers. TLDR: Yes, a privateer hijacker could theoretically overpower weaker-minded or poorly-built hijackers and use them for its own purposes.

Is it possible for a Hijacker of any kind to become the full consciousness of the Hive? Also, is it possible for a consciousness to pass on the role to another if said consciousness is dying?

@Continlula Yes and yes! Check out the Castes section of the Extended Lore Thread - it talks about special drones called backups, which are basically dormant consciousnesses kept in reserve in case the primary consciousness dies. As for hijackers, they're just false consciousnesses. Their entire purpose is to steal drones from true consciousnesses and command them like their own hive. Given that they're meant to be able to do just about everything a standard consciousness can do, they can absolutely become the primary consciousness of their own hive.
