[i]They'd been tracking the herd for several days, carefully marking the time and place they'd hunt for the rest of their clan. Miifa watched the herd through the dense foliage, counting 70 strong, not including the bucks. It fell to the Lair Matriarch to train new potential hunters, in the way only a veteran mirror could.
"Are you ready? She asked, not looking away from their prey. When silence answered her, she blinked, looking down to her left. An empty space where a young mirror once stood filled Miifa's stomach with dread.
"Oh no. Not again."
And with a roar, a yellow-green blur burst from the forest, galloping towards the now panicked herd with undisguised glee.[/i]
