Adding Gaolers would be fun! I no longer have any Moonbeasts but would love to see them make a comeback and will be trying to pick some up.

Ooooh! I think that would be really cool if you made gaoler moonbeasts! You should call them alpha moonbeasts since they are a lot bigger than tundras and very monsterous looking.

Also, I can’t wait to see what the moonbeast hunters would look like too!

@SarcasticHawke I love the idea of adding Gaolers as part of the subspecies! Though Gaolers don't have stained yet, so maybe Moon Shardflank or Weathered could be a replacement? As for genes I think Phantom/Spirit and Shaggy/Streak could work well. Here's a Fire kitsune with Phantom/Spirit/Shardflank And here's an Obsidian standard with Shaggy/Streak/Weathered Also, I know the species has long had only Savannah/Peregrine/Stained as the species genes, but maybe adding some of the new genes could be a nice addition? I collect Tundra and Obelisk skins!
Do you have what I need?
Thanks for the feedback guys! Glad there's still some of you out there who missed this species as much as I did. It's nice to see your enthusiasm and all your ideas!! Keep 'em coming.

Quick note on what I'm considering with the Gaolers:

They'd be called Ancient Moonbeasts. Perhaps with some special lore about how they were the originators of the curse? Idk.

The genes I'm considering are, as @VariantLoki suggested, Phantom/Spirit and Shaggy/Streak. Tertiary would likely be Underbelly/Weathered/Wintercoat because they're all wolf-like!

I'm not a huge fan of Shardflank as that takes it slightly too far away from the mostly canine look of this subspecies. Friendo and I had considered Gnarlhorns as well but dismissed it for the same reason.

Should the genes be paired, at least for Gaolers? For example, an ancient moonbeast could only be:

Phantom/Spirit/any of the 3 terts
OR
Shaggy/Streak/any of the 3 terts?

So no Phantom/Streak/etc. or Shaggy/Spirit/etc.? I feel like this might look nicest and also be easier to coordinate? Or would you all prefer just Shaggy/Streak or Phantom/Spirit? I like the variety myself but do feel like that could get to be a bit too much.

Definitely a shame that Gaolers and Banescales don't have stained yet...maybe when they release the gem marketplace ancient we'll get it...? A girl can hope TToTT I debated pushing back the release of the Gaoler moonbeasts until stained came out but idk if that'll happen at this point. Maybe by June we'll have some inkling on whether it'll ever be available.

As for Marbled/Swirl I like the look of it...maybe I could make it a sub-class of Moonbeasts? Python/Morph is far too snake-like imo which is SAD because they're some of my favorite genes...hmm...I'll have to think on it.

In the meantime, DEFINITELY keep all the suggestions coming!!

@SarcasticHawke
I agree that Underbelly/Weather/Wintercoat would work well for ancient Moonbeasts! I'm just bias towards shardflank because I think its neat, but I get trying to keep the canine like look.

I think for shaggy/streak and phantom/spirit, since it's only two options each i'd say having either or would be fine. (So a total of 4 combinations: Shaggy/Streak, Shaggy/Spirit, Phantom/Streak, or Phantom/Spirit)

A Subclass for Swirl/Marbled moonbeasts could be interesting. Though I can see some of the colors in the variant ranges being strange with the way the genes use accent colors. The moon stained helps with that though.

I think it is ok if you want variety but I also really like the very limited gene range for the original subspecies idea. I also think that if other 'wolfy' genes are released and maybe you'd be tempted to add even more into the mix. Things might get a bit messy to me and lose some appeal but that's only my problem. I'm no authority, so just my thoughts. I like the idea of any of the 3 previously mentioned terts since they are wolfy. I also think that because there are so many (comparably to just Stained) I don't think mixing the first 2 genes into 4 possibilities is really necessary and gives an appealing limit to the already mysteriously rare Moonbeast idea. I mean, there are so many genes that would look good on good ol' Tundras/Imps and they weren't added and mixed just for the sake of adding them. :/ Any consideration for a 'cured' tertiary? One of the three or a different one perhaps? I don't have any cured, just thought I'd ask since it is within the parameters of the originals.

Marbled/Swirl looks so good! I'd be interested in some new gene variants for sure.

@Morningrise That's kind of along the lines of what I was thinking. They have SO MUCH variety for Gaolers, but I do like the simple nature of this subspecies. I want to keep it as simple as possible. I might limit the combinations of primary/secondaries honestly, it seems like the best call.

As for cured Ancient Gaolers they have Runes as well so I'd just keep that as the cured tert!

@sarcasticHawke Love the idea of having Gaolers as part of the subspecies. I'm a big fan of tundras so was totally excited to have the Gaolers when they came out. Am also excited that the Moonbeast subspecies will be continuing. Thanks for getting back to me on being a breeder. Here are the pairs I have right now. Thanks again for letting my clan be a part of this subspecies.

@Cyrce You're most welcome <3 I'm sure you can find tons of breeders for Maned beasts in the sales thread. They're some of the hardest for find in XXY form unfortunately, if that's your preferred color pattern.

Also you brought up a good point in your PM to me:
WHAT TYPE OF BADGES/ACHIEVEMENTS DO YOU ALL THINK WE SHOULD HAVE?!
It's probably high time I found an artist for these. So far I'm thinking:

- Official Moonbeast badge
- Moonbeast Descendant badge
- Cured Moonbeast badge
- Moonbeast Breeder badge
- Moonbeast Hunter badge
- Opal Moonbeast badge
