I was just wondering how the Gen1 Contest pinglist was supposed to work... I'm running a raffle that will include at least ten first generation dragons and a lot of scrolls that would be of interest to all the other hoarders out there! I'll be adding the dragon prizes slowly and was wondering if it would be appropriate to ping the list to see each new dragon, or whether I should be pinging them at all...

Not sure if you got a reply regarding this over pms or what not, but the pinglists are to be used for sales and auctions, /not/ raffles. People who put themselves on the lists expect to be able to buy straight out or at least compete in the event of an auction, not for raffles!

There is the general g1 list which you might be able to use? I'm not sure how people would feel about it but they do get pinged to interest checks and such so it might be viable to use that one particular list. Not a 100% sure on this however. If you do do it, make sure to clearly list the g1s being offered.

And just as a general note to anyone else who may be wondering about pinging individually for each dragon, please just post all the dragons /then/ ping the list, nobody likes a bunch of extra pings when one mass ping can do it!

Thanks for the reply!! I didn't hear back from anyone so I just haven't used any pinglists :) My question was mostly because there is a specific pinglist that's for "Contests" so if that's not for raffles/games what would that be for? I definitely wouldn't ping the general sales or auction lists or any of the specific colour/date/etc ones. :)

I may ping the general one in a month or two once I've revealed all the Gen1s that I will be raffling off and if I do that it would just be one ping and hopefully not bother anyone! I just wondered whether the contest list might be more appropriate than the general one since we used to get pinged for raffles on the g1 general list a couple years ago but it's very rare lately!

...I honestly forgot that list existed, woops. That list is a holdover from the previous thread, there was something about contests pertaining to the thread (ie design contests and such??? idk) but I have 0 idea how they planned on utilizing it since there seems to have been no contests held? It's a strange one tbh.

Personally, I would err on the side of caution and not use the list, though I can't stop you from trying it at your own risk. If you feel you have a right to use it, maybe clarify its not associated with the main thread/association and go from there? If people are not happy with being pinged, it's a learning experience at least?

Also, if I spooked you a bit on that last bit in my previous post, apologies! I was just using your question as a spring board in case anyone else bothers to read what I say on the thread!

Ohhhkay, strange! But if it was meant for association contests than I don't think I'd want to try using it either, I'm glad I asked! I never want to use a list I don't understand, since I've definitely seen it not go well :P and no one likes unwanted pings :)

Oh, yeah, no you didn't spook me, sorry, I just wanted to clarify the question! I'm sure keeping this thread up and helping everyone figure out how it all works is a full-time job...! Hopefully your explanation will help someone looking for those answers! :)
