Tersia and Orchai don't much like the thought of a situation which would require a new party to set out. After all, the clan members are free to leave at any time they wish. If a group set out to start a new clan, it would be because something had happened to theirs.
"But perhaps that is the reason for such a plan. If something were to happen to the clan. Then a group could be sent out to start again. To carry on the clan. And its legacy," Orchai says.
Tersia sighs.
"That doesn't mean I have to like it. If something that bad happened..."
"Then we have a plan."
The two are silent for a moment, mulling over very different problems.
"Kir is undoubtedly the best with herbs and plants," Orchai says.
"Oh, undoubtedly, yes," Tersia agrees. "No party would starve or succumb to sickness with her around. We're lucky to have her."
"But who would be able to actually build a new lair. A home is important. Yes."
"Hmm." Tersia thinks for a moment. "...Desertscale, maybe? She does like to build things."
"She builds machines. Not lairs."
"Very intricate machines, though. Do you have a better option?"
"No. Let us move on. Then. The metalsmith. Well. We both know that would be Burke."
"Of course, he's perfect for that job. Well, if he has someone to help, anyways."
"Any of them could help. Not as well as some. Perhaps. But they could help."
"True. What about the 'dragon dedicated to study and research'? I'm typically the one who takes down notes and the histories..."
"There would be no clan without you. Tersia. None of us. Me least of all. Would allow your death."
"But what if? What if I was gone? Then who? You can't just give up because one person is gone!"
Orchai mumbles something that Tersia can't hear, then is silent.
"Orchai. Please. If only for the possible future of everyone else."
He takes his time answering.
"Anemoi. He is always curious about something. Always taking notes. Truly in the spirit of the Arcanist."
"I haven't talked to him much," Tersia says.
"He does not talk much to anyone."
"Ah. Well, that explains it. That's too bad. I could probably learn a lot from him... But anyway. The protector and caretaker of the hatchlings."
"Muneca," they say in unison.
"She loves the hatchlings. She'd be perfect for the job."
"She also makes a fine guardian in general. And she could help Burke more easily than the others. I'd imagine."
Tersia nods, scribbles down the names in the scroll in the tiny script they learned from Orchai, and rolls it back up.
"Do you suppose we wait for it to be collected? Or do we just keep it?"
Orchai fans out his head crests sharply and quickly brings them to rest - what Tersia has learned to be the Fae motion for "I don't know". Tersia shrugs.
"I guess I'll just hang onto it for now, then. Should we tell the dragons we selected?"
"Should we. You can. You are the keystone."
"Stop it, Orchai. I don't want to think about it either. But it's important." When Orchai gives no answer, merely gazing away, Tersia sighs and slithers off, leaving Orchai to stare after them.

If you buy dragons from me to exalt, please name them first!
