A prodigal figure, her legend tells of a cave tucked in hiding amongst the rolling hills of northern Dragonhome, discovered by chance when, lost and desperate, a guiding light showed her to its entrance. xxxIt's unclear the exact truth of what she found within, but it had been a saving grace. It warmed her for the night and sheltered her against the whirling storms of sand that were sure to arrive by morning, and by the light of her fire she came to realize just what she had stumbled upon: paintings, ruddy and peeling, spanning every wall fit for serving as canvas. Two-legged figures marched in rows across the tunnelways, animal spirits flittered in the shadows, and great hunts took place in the deeper chambers. xxxDriven by spirit, the Dweller would make the cave not only her home, but a center of her newfound purpose and haven for the few survivors who made their staking in nearby territory. These few made habit to convene at the Cave for community and the exchange of wisdom and craft, and the Dweller became an advisor, clutching tightly to what realizations and understanding came from the paintings she now spent all of her time tending. xxxGiven time, it became inevitable that the question be raised, but the idea of a clan built upon little more than fringe spirituality and a shared locality seemed lacking in soundness. Instead, a system was proposed that would respect the independence and self-reliance of all while continuing this newfound tradition. xxxThe Painted Palm is not a clan by any standard definition, but rather a loosely-contracted collective. As such, the Palm holds little to its name and requires even less, instead representing the network of independent dragons who know, and live in orbit of, the Cave. Its members, referred to as Palms themselves, continue to live their lives as they see fit and rarely interact save for regularly-held councils or emergencies - when seeking the Dweller, these matters are left for individual cases. xxxThough unconventional and likely too far spread to be efficient by any true clan's metric, the Painted Palm thrives in its current state, well enough in fact to implement complex measures to ensure the stability of its representatives. From long-distance signal systems to hidden caches left at key locations, the Palms support one another regardless of the divides between out of a mutual understanding, one whose goal is to protect their home's great mystery and its dedicated oracle - at least, until the time is right. all stories intertwine, in time.

It is here that the Palm establishes its reach and pool of participants, and at its epicenter, the Dweller in her Cave.

xxxOral record testifies that the Painted Palm was conjured in the mind of a single dragon.

Easily as old as the Early Second Age, the paintings showed commune between an ancient race and the Pillar - attributed to deities of their own, perhaps, but in a fashion eerily alike the dragons of modern Sornieth.
