@Fractee, @fluffmoth, good morning! First, I apologize for the confusion. It was a bit alarming to see comments attributed to us that we didn't say, publicly in the tag and directly associated both with a specific religion and religions in general. I do want to caution you both as artists about religious imagery. I'm saying this here so you can just click the 'Copy Link' button and point straight to a public-facing staff comment if someone tries to make this an issue for you: We don't allow religious imagery in skins and accents for a number of reasons, including safety. When you start allowing any religious imagery, icons, etc, you have to allow all, including the desecration of those images. And we don't want to open this door on our site. This means your religion identity buttons can't have any religious imagery in them. Religion, faith, spirituality are profoundly personal, complicated, nuanced topics and we're a dragon breeding game in a fantasy world. Players sharing their personal religious or spiritual choice or affiliation in their Clan Bio or forum signature is okay. Religious imagery is not okay. Calls-to-action are not allowed. Proselytizing is not allowed.
Wait, is having a therian button against these guidelines?

@Aequorin (unsure if it's alright to clarify publicly in the forums or not, let me know if this needs to be private)

at what point does religious imagery cross a line - clearly the cross is disallowed, but things like angels are technically Christian imagery as well. is it the pairing of symbols + name of the religion that creates the problem?

there has also been discussion previously here about things like Judaism as it is both a religion and an ethnicity, and not all Jewish people are religiously Jewish. we had used the star of David as a representation for it as an ethnicity and assumed that was okay, but would that be a violation? what about religious imagery that is part of a country flag, like Israel or any flag with the Muslim crescent? (we have nationality buttons hosted here currently)

honestly this is more confusing than my original understanding. religious imagery seems like a fairly broad and subjective category and i'm unsure how to proceed safely

(also wanted to apologize again for any confusion, as i said in my previous post it has never been my intention to speak on behalf of staff or tell anyone what the rules are for FR and i'm sorry if anything came off that way)

Hi @fluffmoth, it's okay! I made the comment I made in the thread so artists would have An Official Staff Comment as reference point. This way, if someone is upset with the lack of religious imagery in a button you can easily disengage. You can just point to the Community Manager's comment and they can be upset with staff instead. [emoji=fae laughing size=1] To answer your question, you've landed on exactly why we prefer to just say no religious or political imagery, no discussions on politics and religion, etc. They are complicated, nuanced topics and we're 2D dragon pixels in a fantasy world. Buttons identifying a religion for personal use in a Clan Biography or forum signature are okay. Religious imagery, iconography, etc are not. Nationality identity buttons are okay. If anything changes, it will be formal policy update. Finally, we'd like for folks to exercise discretion with the identity buttons. They can get pretty granular. This isn't a bad thing! The concern is how identity buttons added here, there, a new one in a few weeks, and then another one, etc, on your profile can quickly add up to be a fairly identifying summary offline or on an internet search. So just be careful, please. Thank you! [emoji=new friend size=1]

@ReactorFour I can! Since it's just color-picking, it's pretty easy to do. Although, I'm going to have to change the icon, since apparently the word is okay but not the religious imagery of the cross? So let me know if you have ideas of what to replace it with, and I'll see if I'm able to make it into a new icon

@fluffmoth Ohh, I see. I didn't realize you originally didn't want them here, I'm sorry for involving you with this :/
"please avoid sharing what i've said as if it's official information" Noted! I did so originally because it would have felt redundant to ask staff myself since somebody had already asked, but I see now that it might've been better to check myself if in doubt

@Aequorin Hello! Sorry about the tag by the way. I post my buttons on Tumblr for hosting purposes only originally, and only tagged them as 'flight rising' to make them easier for me to find later on my own blog - since I don't usually interact with the FR community on Tumblr, it hadn't occurred to me how public that made my posts. I'll likely used the X-Kit tag replacer to change the tag to something more specific to myself (such as 'fract flight rising' or something like that) so as to avoid making things this public in the future when they are not intended to be. (Edit: Update: Done! Replaced it with the new tag I mentioned above. It should help keep these kinds of posts less public so it doesn't attract as many people next time, but you'll still be able to look the tag up if needed, since I make buttons regularly.)
I'll be making buttons to replace these ones as well, since the icon counts as religious imagery (Edit: Currently thinking I may make versions with the Flight symbols of the users asking for the buttons - would that be okay?)

@Bashett Apparently the cross symbol itself is going to be an issue though (hadn't realized that religious imagery counted), so I'm probably going to be taking my original post down or editing it or something with new buttons that follow site rules more closely. It won't break the link, but let me know what kind of symbol you think would work best to replace it if you have any ideas
