[center]Clan History[/center] [center][map x=2939 y=2956 view=land width=480 height=240]Clan Aquaurora dwells above water in a series of caves in a rocky promontory jutting off the Lightning Escarpment, near the Shoredeep Presage.[/map][/center] [center][size=6][color=#575757]» CLAN AQUAURORA «[/color][/size][/center] [center][size=4][color=#575757]Tsunami Flats | Hunters and Alchemists[/color][/size][/center] [center][img]https://i.imgur.com/QLn57Yc.gif[/img][/center] [center]The clan is located on the edge of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, near the border with Fire but not far from the border with Light. Led by the mystic Aoide, who despite her affiliation with the Tidelord retains a great deal of her Mirror-born practicality and is well-grounded in reality. Her children follow her in this regard, being both devoted yet practical. The leading Council consists of Aoide, her first mate and Clan Guardian Boreas, her children and advisors, and the Foreign Flight Council. The clan is as a whole utterly devoted to the Tidelord, taking great pride in training his devotees (known as "Tidelings") to give them the basic training necessary to undertake the dangerous journey to the center of the Spiral Keep. However, they maintain the utmost respect for the other ten deities, and thanks to the influence of the Foreign Flight Council they have been known to give preliminary training to devotees of other deities as well. Clan lore considers "Firstborns" (G1s) to be new adult creations by the deities. They are supposed to have a special connection to their deity, having them as their only parent.[/center] ---------- [center][size=6][color=#575757]» Origins «[/color][/size] [img]https://i.imgur.com/KBDQASr.png[/img][/center] [columns]Aoide is a Firstborn, as is Boreas. The two of them met on the shores of the Sea of the Thousand currents on the day of his birth, the day after hers. He immediately claimed her as his Charge. She had dreamed of another as her mate, but reluctantly agreed to one nest with him. Despite the fact that he was not her chosen mate, only their two remaining children (Melete and Aquilo) are considered clan "royalty". They claimed a series of caves in an outcropping cliff on the edge of the Sea to be their home. It was far too big for two dragons, but Aoide knew that her dream of a thriving, bustling clan would be fulfilled eventually. The pair was soon met by a pair of travelling dragons (Wainwright and Maud, now departed to continue their journey) from a small but rapidly growing lair in the neighboring Light realm, along with another pair (Ocellus and Melodion) who stumbled across them by accident. These three couples formed the beginnings of Aoide's dream, Clan Aquaurora. Their children still form the backbone of the clan infrastructure. Melete and Aquilo had a younger brother who was stolen by an Ice raiding party soon after their hatching. The adults in the clan suspected Plague, and sent a return raid into the Scarred Wasteland, but came up empty. It was later learned that he had been sold to a band of slavers, who were captured in Dragonhome, where he still dwells as a servant of the Earthshaker. Melete, unaware of this, set out to the Scarred Wasteland on her own just before attaining her adult growth, where she adopted an unhappy young Plague dragon (Oilslick) as her charge. Aoide approved of the young Mirror's coloration and her willingness to dedicate herself to the Tidelord, and attempted to provide her with an appropriate mate. (n.b. this has yet to occur). Soon after this, Melete, Aquilo, and Bricka (daughter of Wainwright and Maud) began warrior training in earnest, feeling that if the camp had been defended properly, their brother never would have been taken. Their first ambush captured a ferocious-looking Plague dragon named Deathstrike, who, after being taken before Aoide, proved to have come with peaceful intentions. Aoide realized that her vision included representatives from every flight, and offered him the position of Plague Flight Ambassador, which he accepted. He was quickly followed by Leafstep, the Nature Flight Ambassador, and the others came thick and fast. The Gaoler representative, Warlock, became convinced that they were a threat to the state of all Sorneith, equivalent to the Shade. Despite his gentle mate's protests, he began to raise up an army of descendants to conquer the Banescales. He chose only those mates that arrived from the Southern Icefields, believing all others to be weak, even his own children. The Banescales themselves originally posed very little threat. They were given names and visions for the future from the Spiral Keep, and the female, Nudibranch, at least was accepting of it. She became the clan's lead alchemist, despite her lack of forelimbs. She had a rather rocky start, but now heads up a team of enthusiastic if not brilliant alchemists. Their expanded laboratory is rather chaotic, as her team primarily consists of armless Banescales, hyperactive Spirals, and perceptive but sight-impaired Facet-eyed dragons. Only one normal-eyed Mirror is there to tame the chaos, and even she gets caught up in the excitement sometimes. However, the male Banescale, Synchiropus, became convinced that it was his duty to also raise an army of Banescales to fight the ancient threat posed by the Gaolers. The fire in his blood called to him, and he sent word far and wide looking for Banescales who shared his element, much to his mate's dismay. Various dragons from the main clan have attempted to posit solutions to the ongoing conflict, but so far none of them have been successful. In the midst of this conflict, and completely above it, came the birth of the clan's first multi-gaze dragon. She was afflicted with a rare condition that forced her into eternal hibernation, becoming the clan Oracle. The clan's resident seer, Hecamar, frightened at such a power out of her league, scoured the area for another multigaze dragon to assist her. K'uK'ulcan came in response to the clan's need, and he too joined the council. They frequently return to their own homelands to refresh themselves and return greetings from their new home base. They assist with the festival preparation, taking it in turns to lead. They are called to the ruling council when a grave decision must be decided that will affect the entire clan. However, their duties are light on a day-to-day basis, and they are free to pursue whatever hobbies may interest them.
