The city itself is an amalgamation of different architecture: parts of it are carved into the rock walls, while others are constructed from wood or the rotting hulls of shipwrecks. The people within it make up a hive of scam artists and outlaws, and even in the highest levels of its society, corruption runs deep. The temple was originally constructed as a last-ditch effort from the Earthshaker's followers to unite the flights, but now, as the struggle for elemental dominance rages on, it is a tenuous alliance at best. Perhaps as a result, or as the original catalyst of this failure, few of the augurs have the city's best interests at heart, and even fewer follow the doctrines of their home flights. Still, even the worst of Marultis' crooks pay homage there on the regular. There have been far too many crystal clear examples of what will happen if they don't. Conceited heirs, retired warlords... the kind of company that can't be bothered to do their own dirty work. Though none of them would admit it, the cause of their indirect action may not be as clean cut as an inflated sense of superiority. There are rumors of an organized crime ring floating about the High Deck, and most would prefer not to accidentally cross one of its members. Better to let someone else take the fall. It's just the day's catch drying on the lines. Don't look at the lines. Don't check what's been caught. There is nothing to see here. Don't waste your time. Instead, why don't you (literally) head down to... There's a little bit of everything in the market: unnervingly realistic shadow puppet shows, over-eager salesmen, exotic merchandise from all over Sornieth, obnoxious shanties that will be stuck in your head for the next 72 business hours.. what's not to love? If you have business that can't be known by anyone, best go to the place where the past has been left to die. The ship's mission is to reclaim the land for the maren through diplomacy or, if absolutely necessary, more severe measures. Among his crew are outcasts and justice seekers of all sorts, ready and willing to put their lives on the line in order to return Marultis to its long lost days of peace with the local beastclan.
