The Clan of the Beast
Turn not to the shadows if you seek a friend
Something waits there, the broken and cold
Fear the beast that the night alone sees
Deep in the darkness is horror untold

The Unseeing Chamber
Hidden deep inside the Foxfire Bramble are the remains of a stately manor. Although there is nothing left of the manor itself, the once-grand winding staircase now reaches deep, deep into the earth. Each step into that suffocating darkness fills guests with a sense of dread, and the unending feeling that something has been waiting for them...

The Solstice King
Seven generations ago, there was a king of the Fortress of Ends. He was known for his generosity and his justness, and his subjects called him the Solstice King. He never waged war against other kingdoms, nor did he build any monuments worth remembering, but if there is anything saving his name from the grasps of time it is the Beast.

The Beast the Night Alone Sees was a terrible creature. The monster radiated such gravity that it became nearly impossible to breathe or move. Any dragon that looked upon it perished on the spot, and their corpses disintegrated into shining black dust. With each dragon the Beast killed it only grew hungrier, ravaging the lands until there was nothing left but destruction and death.

The Solstice King could bear it no longer. He took to the air and summoned all the magic he could muster. In a flash of blinding light and a crash of deafening sound the Beast was frozen in time, surrounded by a shimmering sphere of opaque ice. With no magic or energy in his bones, the king fell to the earth, and shattered into tiny pieces of ice. His remains were gathered and given a respectful burial, and the Beast was locked away deep inside the Fortress of Ends.

The legends say that Solstice King did it alone, that his magic would keep the Beast sealed away forever, that the realm would be safe.

Dragons of today know that to be a lie.

Polyphemus is gentle and wise, full of stories and kindness. She also possesses great power, being able to walk on air and summon incredible tempests with a single stroke of her wings. She has to continuously drink from the spring, or else she will turn to stone and crumble. Centurion is quiet and wise, and can tell immediately when someone is being dishonest. She loves a good mystery, and sometimes speaks in riddles. Before she left for the Tangled Wood, Centurion took with her some of her treasures and tools that carry magic as old as the gods. She remembers a time before the Beast... and she's very much looking forward to that era once more. But despite her tiny stature she holds incredible strength... and unending malice. Local urban legends tell that she takes dragons who wander too far into the forest and drains their life energy for her spells. Some even say that she'll appear in nightmares as a haunting warning of despair and looming disaster. Not much was known about Nightfall until she revealed herself to Insignia. Since then, her cruel sense of humor has come to light alongside her twisted desire for forbidden knowledge. The other saviors believe that Nightfall is the only dragon to have looked upon the Beast and survived. However, he has no interest in harnessing his own power, instead using his vast scientific knowledge to aid Chell in her quest. The Saviors
Bounty, the Lucky One
69131021_350.png
Accidentally freed by Insignia from a stone prison, Bounty is the living embodiment of riches and luck. His very gaze radiates warmth and he can turn anything he touches to gold.

Bounty was one of those who helped the Solstice King imprison the Beast, and he remembers all too well the other dragons present. But with the Beast's power mounting with each passing day, Bounty must help Chell and Insignia find the other dragons to end the Beast for good.

Polyphemus, the Great Moth
From the heart of the Twisting Crescendo rises Polyphemus, an ancient dragon of great wisdom. Wind dragons of old believed her to be a minor god, an entity of safety and fast travels. Although she isn't worshipped like she once was, Polyphemus still watches over travelers and merchants, and ensures that they always come back home.

Polyphemus is gentle and wise, full of stories and kindness. She also possesses great power, being able to walk on air and summon incredible tempests with a single stroke of her wings. Using her ability to hear secrets whispered into the wind, Polyphemus hears of the location of perhaps another entity, someone even more ancient than her...
66303148_350.png

Centurion, the Eldest One

66068556_350.png
Centurion is one of the oldest dragons still alive. Long before she helped the Solstice King, she was steadily mining around the Pillar of the World, uncovering ancient and priceless treasures. But perhaps the most valuable of her discoveries is a primordial underground spring, which made her almost immortal... for a price.

Nightfall, the Rising Darkness

Nightfall is small even for a Veilspun, so much so she is often mistaken for a flower petal on the breeze.

67852564_350.png

Cyanide, the Servile Rot
68416389_350.png
Conjured from the very swamp by Nightfall's dark magic, Cyanide lives only to serve. He has no will of his own and only fractions of memories of his past life. Nightfall has hinted that he was once a living dragon who drowned in the swamp, but any traces of the dragon before is long gone. Now Cyanide has only one purpose: to aid Nightfall and the other saviors end the Beast. However, while Nightfall claims he is disposable, Chell has determined to save Cyanide - at least, what's left of him.

Jacob, Death's Engineer

The Lightning mage who assisted the Solstice King died generations ago. Instead, Chell must work with Jacob, the only known descendant of the mage. Jacob is a young engineer and is well versed in engineering and physics, and appears to possess his ancestor's electric energies as well. However, he has no interest in harnessing his own power, instead using his vast scientific knowledge to aid Chell in her quest.

Jacob is has a very unorthodox view of life, and is extremely determined to harness what all dragons fear: Death. No one knows entirely what his blueprints spell out but while he hasn't seemed to accomplish his goal, he shows no sign of stopping until he succeeds.
68011844_350.png

Jenny, the Frozen Ghost

67868327_350.png
Jenny is the ghost of a dragon who drowned in a frozen river. She once haunted the riverbanks, wailing in the night for the life she lost. Locals said that in the winter when the night was coldest she would wander from her river, trailing behind her frost and dead lilies. But one winter night, a young engineer named Jacob encountered her on a bridge, weeping in lonely despair. Quickly becoming friends, he promised to give her a second chance, and Jenny vowed to help him wherever he went.

Jenny is still at Jacob's side to this day, helping him in any way she can. She isn't mournful of her death anymore and is excited to travel the world. Though, she still prays that one day, someone will go fishing at the edge of her grave, and pull from the cold waters the skeleton of a dragon who never had a chance.

Toxicant, the Vengeful One

Toxicant is a whisper among Plague dragons, a little legend of survival. Some say he was trapped in the Wyrmwound, forced to suffer years of sickness and torment. Others say he has wandered the Abiding Boneyard for decades, appearing only as a mirage in the distance. There are many stories about him, but no one knows Toxicant better than Nihilite.

The two viciously battled in the Scarred Wasteland with tooth and claw and blade, each strike mounting rage and bloodlust. Neither has told how long they battled; others only know that Toxicant's face still carries those horrid scars. Toxicant is happy to help his old friends end the Beast, but he still has a score to settle with Nihilite, one that will end in blood.

Phenomenon, the Fallen Star
69565576_350.png
One month before the fateful battle between the Solstice King and the Beast, the Starfall Isle watched as a vivid, burning meteor struck a distant island. From the core of the meteor Arcane scientists retrieved an egg, glistening and pulsing with otherworldly energies. It was from this egg that Phenomenon hatched, and from this meteor he gained energies beyond what any dragon could control. A tiny sliver of his power was brought before the Solstice King, with a promise of its strength and a warning of the aftermath.

Olivine, Iku and Pantomime broke into his cell and brought Phenomenon to Chell, but in order to gain his trust Chell had to promise Phenomenon that she would help him return to the stars.

Lockjaw, the Old Machine
After the Solstice King died, the Water mage disappeared without a trace. The old building she worked at has long since crumbled, and there are no written records of where she went. All hope seemed lost... until Maelstrom had a vision of something waiting for them in the darkness of the ocean.

With the help of some local Water dragons, Chell retrieved from the haunting depths of the Leviathan Trench the remains of an old mechanical dragon. It's unknown to the extent which Lockjaw is alive, but the other saviors swear they hear the voice of their old friend within his rusted body.
69514413_350.png

Candela, the Smoldering Princess

69744098_350.png
While the Solstice King ruled in the frigid Southern Icefield, the Conflagrant King reigned in the fires of the Great Furnace. The two rarely saw eye-to-eye, nearly going to war on one notable occasion, but they forged an unlikely alliance to end the Beast. After the Solstice King died, his fiery counterpart returned to his domain and, humiliated by failure to save his ally, ordered that any traces of his trip be erased from the kingdom. It wasn't long until the Beast faded from memory altogether.

Beautiful and haughty, Candela is of the Conflagrant bloodline, and is expected to take the throne and bring her fallen kingdom to prosperity. Under her proud façade she carries a shameful secret- her magic produces no flames, only smoke. But Bounty and the other saviors know for certain that she has the Conflagrant King's magic, and Chell has agreed to help Candela harness it. Candela hopes that by mastering her magic she will become an heir worthy of bringing her kingdom to its former glory.

Wormwood, the Deceitful Bard

Not many dragons return from the exalting shrine. Those who do are never quite the same. Many take new names, don different clothes, and abandon their lives in favor of new ones. Wormwood was sent off to serve the Gladekeeper when he was just a boy. His parents and friends turned their backs on him... but they weren't expected to see him on their doorstep not three days later. But soon he would disappear, taking with him an old harp and and leaving behind everything he knew.

Dr. Jekyll is one proud scientist... but not without reason. His mind is of the highest caliber, and he is ranked among some of the smartest in the land. Jekyll's finest work is his studies on Phenomenon's energies. His breakthroughs has the potential to completely change the way the world sees arcane energy.
He and Dr. Hyde have been academic rivals for years. Normally, Dr. Jekyll would have stayed as far away from Dr. Hyde and the Unseeing Manor as possible. But when Phenomenon was stolen from him... Jekyll had had enough. He won't stop until Phenomenon is back under his control, and he will never let the alien return to his home.

Matron Maladonna, the Bearer of Secrets

70181716_350.png
Where the Sea of a Thousand Currents meets the Tangled Wood stands a small cozy cottage- Matron Maladonna's Conservatoire of Clairvoyance. Here, Matron Maladonna has been schooling young prophetesses in the ways of clairvoyance. She has raised generations of oracles here, and she has been hailed as one of the finest in the land. One of her prized pupils was none other than a young, quiet Pearlcatcher- Maelstrom herself.
Maladonna has heard what happened on the day of Maelstrom's first prophecy, the news shaking her old bones to the core. Some have told her it was an accident, while others maintain it was deliberate. The Matron doesn't know what to think. But she does know that someone must be held accountable... and there is no one left to blame but Maelstrom.

Dr. Artis, the ambitious engineer

As long as the Great Furnace will spew molten metal, there will be engineers. And as long as there is blood in her veins, Dr. Artis will be using her abundance of resources for mania and evil. There is no saying how many wicked machines she has invented, how much destruction has fallen because of her. Arresting her and placing a bounty on her head couldn't stop her; Artis does not answer to those who want to restrict her.
Regret is not something Dr. Artis is familiar with. As long as she can continue to build monstrous robots and machines of war, she is perfectly content. Artis will serve whatever master is willing to fund her destructive laboratory, and it just so happens that Solemn will provide. Beneath her mania, however, she hides a secret... a love she is terrified to act upon.

Avaline, a familiar face
69035515_350.png
Sweet Avaline was born into a family of overachievers. Her sister was a star with a siren-like voice, her brother was a knight praised for his strength, and her parents were both wise and just leaders of their community. But Avaline was nothing special... or so she thought. Little does Avaline know, she is the reincarnation of legendary nature mage, a very close friend to Wyrmwood before he was exalted.

Solemn has convinced Avaline that only she can teach her to be strong, and without her help Avaline will never awaken her true potential. All sweet Avaline wants is to step out of the smothering shadows of her family. Wyrmwood has spent centuries searching for his old friend and now that he's found her... he's terrified of what he sees.
