Introduction
"Writing is the lonely sport of sad sacks."
Lauren Groff
When you look up quotes about writing, you will invariably find comments of this sort. You have Hemingway claiming that people get in the way of writing, Sherman Alexie, Stephen King, and Blanche Willis Howard agreeing that "writing is a lonely business," and Emilio Estev joking that the only solution to writing-caused loneliness is alcohol.

Well, Sentari and I are here to break the trend. We're sick of this negativity! Give us writing friends, darn it! Together, we have created a FlightRising writers' club that welcomes writers of all stripes: young and old writers, writers who work with FlightRising and those who don't, newbies and experts... everyone!

Here, a writer can find everything they need: prompts, book recommendations, a list of resources, monthly workshops, and most importantly, fellow writers. It's true: no one else can write the story that's knocking around your skull... but you don't have to go it alone!

So, are you convinced? Then take a gander at the rules! Once you've given them careful consideration, you can fill out the application form below. Don't forget to join our Discord server!
*
Rules
  1. Be kind. No bullying, name-calling, or put-downs.
  2. Be honest in your comments on another's piece. I always recommend a hearty, 25/75 blend of positives and negatives in comments. Look for the good and gently point out what needs work.
  3. Be receptive if you ask for comments. This is a thread for writers to help writers. That's what comments are meant to do--help you improve! If you think someone is excessively negative, let Sentari or me know.
  4. Give me elephants. Sentari would like some horses, too. Any and all elpehants/horses will do. They are necessary for our survival.
  5. If you sign up for workshop, complete the workshop. If other people give your work their time and attention, you owe it to them to do the same! Give others the number of comments that you would want to receive!

@Vngel @Sentari
I want to join!
How long have you been writing? Roughly two years (I started during nano 2018)
Example of your writing: “Tosagri!” a hatchling calls. Tosagri looks up and smiles gently at the young dragon.

“What is it, Belle?” she asks. Beside her her familiar, Aotrom, lifts his head to blink slowly at the young skydancer. Tosagri pats him on the head with her wing and he falls back asleep, light dimming.

“Tosagri, is it true? Are you really a faerie?”

Tosagri stiffens. “Where did you hear that?” she asks. The skydancer tilts her head to the left.

“I overheard old Tangle tell one of the newcomers that we don’t have to worry about faeries,” she says. “Not with our own faerie guarding us.”

Tosagri allows her muscles to loosen ever so slightly. It has been decades, centuries even since she discovered her heritage and decided to remain with mortals. The clan was wary at first, but quickly grew to accept her as the dragon they’d always known. She became a protector of sorts, guarding her clan from the dangers of the supernatural.

That doesn’t mean she’s comfortable with it, however.

She smiles gently at the young skydancer. “Yes, it is true,” she says. “And it is also true that I will protect you. You’ll never have to worry about faeries stealing you away as long as I’m here.”

Doubt, however, lingers in her mind. Her home Court never followed her home, but there have been others, faeries that have gotten a bit too interested in her clan. She put them in their place quickly, of course, but worry still lingers that one day she’ll meet a Court that is too powerful for her.

She hopes that day never comes.

Why do you want to join? I love writing, and would love to connect with other FR writers.
What should you give Sentari and Vngel? Elephants and horses!

Okay, I have no idea if any of you are still active or would be interested, but! I used to be AwkwardAngel, and YOU used to be a member of Writers' Woods, an FR writers' club that is almost five years old (and dead) at this point. Since you were on the pinglists for that thread, I wanted to let you know that there is a new writing club thread in town, hosted by Sentari and me right here! If you'd like to join, the form is in the main post. If not, no sweat, and have a nice day <3

accepted!! this is something small, but I LOVEEE the name Tosagri. It feels very fae, but not in an unusual way. I think the hard 'g' keeps it unique, while the 't' and the 'i' scream FAEFAEFAEFAE

Thank you for your lovely work!

Thank you! Tosagri’s one of my dragons; and I think she actually came with the name. Her bio’s one of my favorites.
