"It's all about protecting the eggs.

All about the children.

They can't die. No, they can't."

Two banescales, all about protecting their eggs from danger.
Babbage, a protective banescale, would kill anyone, in order for his eggs to be safe.
61490482_350.png

Lyn, an outgoing banescale, would also kill anyone to protect her eggs.

They want nothing to do with other dragons. Not at all. They just want to have a happy family, with no one dying. But some dragons would want to interfere with the two-legged dragons. Either dangerous or not, they want to take on the world alone.

Hello there! I'm just doing a little lorelock inspired by @Aetherstorm (Rules: Lorelock rules). I just wanted to do something with my sister's dice and so I was like, "Lorelock! Of course. But what should it be about... my banescales that are gonna have a nest of 5 soon... wait..."
Let's see what'll unroll here! (and if I can pay attention to this)

Chapter 1: Alarm
(3)

A nightmare came to her. One too terrifying to believe. The harpies were extending their territory(a true fact that makes Lyn terrified) and they happened to reach their nest. One of them took 3 of their eggs. One was shattered and another one disappeared. She woke up next to her eggs-and not underneath the shade of a tree like Babbage is- and counted the nest.

1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. They're all there. She felt relieved and let out a big sigh. She looked up to the sky and couldn't hear any squawking so far. She looked over at Babbage, who was snoring, and back to the nest, thinking about how happy she was to have a nest. It was all she dreamed of; starting a family, having her own kids, and having a happy family was a dream. The dream, and she couldn't believe it was happening.

She glanced at the nest with joy in her eyes. Could they all be girls? Boys? 3 girls and 2 boys? What would they look like? How would they act? It was a joyful thought that flooded her mind.

She heard a caw not far and saw harpies. Her eyes widened and she froze. She couldn't move. She had to wake up Babbage, but she didn't have to. She looked over at him and his head perked up. He looked at the sky and both of them saw harpies flying over them. They appeared to not notice them. But Babbage still ran over to the nest and stared at the harpies with barred teeth.

More harpies came by, and all of them didn't see them, to their delight. There were some harpies alongside what looked like a boy, and he kept on yelling at them in a language that-to their knowledge-had one word: "Sqwak!"

"You think they see us?" Lyn asks Babbage in a whisper, still looking at the sky.

"I don't know. If they're passing by, they don't see us, right?" Babbage asks with a deep, growly voice.

"They might've, and they're just gonna come back to take our eggs." Lyn shakily asks.

"They have better things to do. And if they were to attack us, they would've done it now and not later. It's fine, Lyn. They won't take the eggs." Babbage tells her, starting to walk away. Lyn hisses at him to get his attention.

"Don't go just yet. Stay until they're gone."Lyn whispers loudly at him.

"They're almost gone! Let me go back to sleep," Babbage yawns and retreats to the tree.

"The eggs! You want them stolen?" Lyn yells at him with a whisper. She looks up and sees that the flock has gone the other way.

"They're gone now. Nothing to worry about." Babbage says, going back to sleep. Lyn sits down on the ashy ground and thinks to herself.

You're a fool, Lyn. They wouldn't go after your eggs. They were too busy expanding their territory. But what if they came back for the eggs? Oh, Plaguebringer, what if they did? It's alright, Lyn. Your eggs are safe. Lyn curls up next to the nest for a nap after that fiasco.

...for now.

Chapter 2: Danger to All (20, 1, 2, 4, 4) “Thank Plaguebringer the harpies flew away earlier. I would’ve snapped their necks the second they saw us.” Lyn says to Babbage, who’s walking with food in his mouth. “So would I,” Babbage muffles with meat in his mouth. He approaches Lyn and drops a few mice on the ashy ground, with some of it flying into the air. Lyn coughed away from the food and grabbed a mouse with her teeth and started to toss it back and forth violently while growling. “Hey, calm down, Lyn. It’s already dead. I punctured it with my claw!” Babbage told Lyn to calm down with urgency in his voice. “It might not be dead. It could just claw its way out of my stomach.” Lyn dropped the food down and stared at her mate. “Who eats food in one gulp? I’d personally tear the flesh every now and then. You know, how a normal banescale should eat.” Babbage says, laying down to eat. “We barely had any food to eat at my old clan. Once there was food, either dead or alive, we would ravage it with our teeth, and we made sure they were no other scraps for any other dragon to eat.” Lyn explains to Babbage while tearing the head off the mouse she tossed around. “Were you fully fed when you came to the clan?” Babbage asked with curiosity. “You were bought WAY after me, so don’t even try anything like that, biscuit,” Lyn says with a wink. Babbage chuckled. “Moldy biscuit, if you want to be more accurate,” Babbage says with a sarcastic tone. “Sayin’ that about your personality or flight?” “Hah, real funny.” “No, I’m being serious.” “Flight.” Lyn was satisfied with that answer, and while she was eating, she saw a dragon go near the nest. “GET AWAY!” Lyn growled and jumped after the dragon. Lyn engulfed the dragon in her wings and they tumble to the side. She managed to have the dragon pinned to the ground, but it turns out it was just a hatchling, with big, cute… watery eyes. Lyn would freak out at the sight of a water dragon in the Ashfall Waste, a home to fire dragons, but she just chuckled. “A water dragon trying to destroy a fire nest? Well, you just have happened to be tackled by a plague dragon. Get ready to meet your end.” Lyn rears up her head, her mouth widening with a sinister grin slightly visible. “LYN! THAT’S A BABY! LET IT GO!” Babbage yelled out for her, swiping her away with his big wings. They tumbled like Lyn did the bogsneak and after a little wrestle, they both stood up a little dizzy. “You were seriously going to kill a hatchling? A BABY? Lyn, are you out of your mind?” Babbage growled at Lyn, barring his teeth in the process. “It was going after the nest!” Lyn yelled back. “You seriously thought a baby dragon would destroy a nest of fire dragons?” Babbage said disappointed. “It’s a water dragon. Look at its eyes!” Lyn screamed. Babbage felt terror swimming through his body. He didn’t think a baby would hurt a nest, but since it’s a water dragon… Babbage walked towards the bogsneak and leaned closer to it. “Hello there. Are you a boy or a girl?” Babbage’s ask was shaky, but he tried to make it polite. The bogsneak only groaned. He was born pretty recently, he could tell. “Well, sir, or ma’am, you aren’t supposed to hurt that nest. You can’t just crawl into it.” Babbage said. The bogsneak tilted his head and tried to walk towards Babbage, but it fell on its head and it started to wail. “Hey, shhh. Be quiet.” Babbage tried to comfort the crying baby, but it only wailed some more. Babbage looked at Lyn with great fear. “We can’t keep this bogsneak. It’s a water dragon, it could destroy the nest whenever it wants to.” Babbage worriedly shouts over the baby’s wails. “That’s why I tried to kill it!” Lyn said. Babbage looks down at the baby, and they both stare into each other’s eyes. While the bogsneak had tears streaming down his face along with the subsiding of its crying (quickly, which was a surprise), Babbage started to think. It can’t destroy a nest. It’s only a hatchling. Besides, where are its parents? Babbage looks back at Lyn with concern gleaming in his red eyes. “Where are its parents?” Babbage asks Lyn, walking towards her with the baby blanketed by his wings. “I don’t know. I just saw him going towards the nest. You really thought I would know where its parents would be? I’m just sitting next to you protecting eggs for a while now, and you’d think I’d know its parents?” Lyn yelled. “You don’t have to yell. It’s just a baby, you’d make it cry again.” Babbage said. “Run.” The bogsneak muttered a word. Babbage quickly looked back at it and asked the bogsneak what it had just said. “Me, boy. Run.” The bogsneak-confirming himself as a boy-only muttered run again. “Running from someone?” Babbage asked. “Water, fire. Scared, run.” He muttered. Something about him being scared, something involving fire, and it ending with him running away… was Babbage’s best guess. “Running away because you are water?” Babbage asked. “You think it’d understand what you just said?” Lyn said. “Yes.” The bogsneak nodded his head, almost to the point of tears again. Babbage looks back at Lyn, with both of them looking concerned. “He’s a fugitive, and we have him,” Babbage says. We already got a new dragon! And they were getting along with Okeanos real well (they named him that because Babbage’s first language was Greek, and the bogsneak reminded him of the ocean). Icefire loved to roughhouse with him, Pastellica sometimes shared his meat with him, but Opal and Isol didn’t really interact with him as much. They just played around with their sister, Sally. “Now where did Okeanos come from? Why was he hanging out in the Ashfall Waste in the first place?” Babbage asks himself. “You should be interacting with the kids, Babbage. They just hatched and all you’re thinking about is Okeanos?” Lyn says, laying down with the chattering babies. “But I’m just thinking about it. He’s a fugitive and the other fire dragons are trying to find him.” Babbage looks at Lyn. “Da?” Icefire-who quickly learned how to stand-walked towards Babbage and he gazed into her orange eyes. They were so elegant along with the rest of her colors. Just like fire and ice. “Yes, Icefire?” Babbage looked down at the tiny banescale. “I-is-” Icefire tried to talk, but couldn’t just yet. “Is who?” Babbage says with a smile on his face. “Eh… eh…” Icefire glances at Okeanos, who was curled up next to Pastellica. “The blue one next to your brother?” Babbage responds to her babbles. “Is-h-he… m-my…” Icefire was quickly beginning to learn words and Babbage had an idea what she was trying to get at. “Is the blue one your other brother?” Babbage looks at Lyn, seeing that Opal, Isol, and Sally are wrestling on her back. He looked hesitant, but Lyn just nodded. What did it mean? Tell them they’re related, even though that’ll never be true? Tell them they’re not? “Yes, he is your brother. He just has a different eye color.” He’s just a different flight entirely. Oh, but I hope she gets convinced, though I doubt it. Babbage thinks worriedly. Icefire grew a wide smile on her face and tried to jump up to him. “What is it? Wanna tell me something?” Babbage leans down and listens to her. “I… w-wu-” She stopped her attempt at saying love, but Babbage only smiled and chuckled. “Love, my dear. Say love.” Babbage says with happiness. “I… love… you!” Icefire said it and gave a victory jump. Lyn gave a happy chuckle and looked back at the 3 kids playing on her back. “Kids, be a little more careful. Hey, Isol, stop biting your brother’s tail!” Lyn watches Isol start to nibble on Opal’s tail, and Sally only wobbled over to Lyn’s head and flopped over it just to stare her in the eyes. “I wuv you!” Sally smiles as Lyn smiles back. “I wuv you, too. Now please get down from my head.” Lyn said. Sally nodded and fell from her head on her chin. “Oh, a little more careful next time, Sally! Are you okay?” Lyn looked down at Sally who got up on her hind legs and looked back at Lyn, seeing that her mother has a smile on her face at the sight of her standing. “Yes. Me ok.” Sally nods at Lyn as she watches her wobble over to Okeanos and Pastellica. Only then did they all point their heads towards the tree that Babbage slept below of when the harpies came two days ago. On top of it was a harpy, staring down at them with an evil glare in its eyes. Okeanos and Pastellica were still asleep. “Sally, get over here right now,” Lyn whispers with an angry tone. “Ma! See? See?” Sally jumps excitedly at the sight of the harpy, but that only made Babbage and Lyn tenser. “Sally, don’t move!” Lyn yells at her in a whisper. But Sally only came closer to the harpy. Babbage could walk over there to stop her, but the harpy would only attack them at the slightest movement. “Hi! Hi!” Sally jumped with excitement and tried to fly up to it. Lyn slowly got a grip on Okeanos’s tail with her teeth and dragged him away from the tree, with Okeanos and Pastellica waking up. The two hatchlings stared at the harpy, and even they were terrified. “Sally! Sally!” Pastellica didn’t know how to whisper, so he only yelled. Right when he yelled, the harpy jumped off the tree and grabbed Sally. Everyone was screaming. The babies were crying, Lyn was trying to gather the babies up and Babbage was attacking the harpy. Sally was screaming and was trying to bite her way out of the harpies grip, but didn’t have the biteforce that would make the harpy release her. “LET GO OF HER, YOU FILTHY BIRD!” Babbage yelled at the harpy, tearing at its wings. It cawed and pecked at the banescale father and all Lyn was doing was trying to calm down the babies. But no matter the shushing, they wouldn’t stop. “DA! DAAAA!” Sally was crying and Babbage tore off the harpies mask, in which it screamed. It then dropped Sally. Lyn ran after Sally, Babbage attacked the harpy and the babies came closer together. The harpy saw Lyn go after Sally, but it only dived after her and clawed at her face. She screamed as Babbage tried to get Sally. CRACK! The babies cowered their eyes, Lyn started to scream and Babbage couldn’t move. He stared down at Sally, her face frozen in terror, with only one tear left in her eye. Babbage started to shake and slowly floated down towards her. Lyn had already snapped the harpy’s neck and she was wailing. “NOOOOOO! AAAAAH, NOOOOOO! WHY HER? OH, PLAGUEBRINGER WHY HER? NOOOOO, MY BABY!!!” Lyn was crying with blood trickling down her face and the babies were also wailing. Babbage picked up Sally with his wings and stared at her eyes. They were closed, and they were to remain like that. Babbage sheds a tear, held the dead Sally close to him, and shuddered one last word to her. “I’m sorry.” AAAH A FRKIN BABY DIED!!! [emoji=banescale sad size=1] I don't like it as much as you don't, I know. Chapter 3: Why her?
(19, 8)

They’ve already hatched, and they were all beautiful.

All 5 of them were as colorful as they expected.

AAAH A FRKIN BABY DIED!!! I don't like it as much as you don't, I know. Let's try to make tomorrow better, shall we?
