Three weeks ago...

“Just send a letter our way if you need anything, alright?” A black and white Skydancer dressed in a thick red and grey coat said.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure we stay in touch.” A black Coatl with purple wings replies. The two dragons shake hands and the Coatl salutes the Skydancer as he gathers his group of dragons to head back home.

A fresh start. Thinks the Coatl looking at his small clan chosen to start a fishing outpost for their mother-clan, the Jade Vivace. He rubs his hands together, Let’s get to work.

Little did he know that disaster was right around the corner

Rules

Alright, I’ve decided to do a Pinkerlocke for lore reasons and also to help whittle down the number of dragons I have. This will be PG since I despise writing/reading anything above PG-13 even tho I am way past that age. Yes, I am a wimp. Deal with it.

Tar wrote on 2015-07-31 12:44:50:
Basic rules:
 • A death in the coliseum = that dragon must be exalted. This is the most essential rule of a nuzlocke.
 • All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering.
 • There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense to you. Same goes for familiars.
 • Ping or message me if you take the challenge ;p (you don't actually /have/ to but I'd love to see how it goes!)
 • And, most crucially, all nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile!

Optional sentimental rule:
If a dragon reaches level 25 it "retires". It can join the ranks of your main lair.

Drops of Fate:

Food: Coliseum time!
Plants: 10-20 matches
Insects: 20-30 matches
Seafood: 30-40 matches
Meat: 40-50 matches

I will be using easy mode.

Easymode: Choose whichever team and venue you want and go for it. Running from battles, using health pots, and ending the battle streak is fine, as I explained above.

(These ranges can also be altered to suit your level of activity/personal preference.)

Materials and trinkets: Flex your creative muscles!

Note that there is currently a glitch in which Pinkerton mislabels materials as trinkets. If you obtain a "trinket" from Pinkerton, double check to make sure its not actually a material!

Materials: Do some writing for your nuzlocke. How does your new nuzlocke clan change and develop? What are your dragons like personality-wise? How do they get along? How do they die? Is there an antagonist in this nuzlocke, or are they merely struggling against the forces of nature? Write dragon bios! Make a blog, or a thread for your challenge in the creative forums! Write short stories or paragraphs, or add to one big one adventure!

Trinkets: Do some art for your nuzlocke! Digital or traditional, use whatever medium feels best for you. Draw deaths. Draw dragons. Draw humanized versions of your dragons (if that's your sort of thing). Draw familiars and dragons together. It doesn't have to be that good or elaborate. If you make a nuzlocke thread, post your art there.

Obviously, you might not have time in your day to do something creative. If that's the case, don't worry about it. This challenge is meant to be fun and heartwrenching, not a chore.

Rare drops: Wildcards

Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the auction house of a specific breed. Use a random number generator (between 1-13) to determine which breed you will get! (Optionally: attach the familiar to the new dragon.)

1. Fae
2. Guardian
3. Mirror
4. Pearlcatcher
5. Ridgeback
6. Tundra
7. Spiral
8. Imperial
9. Snapper
10. Wildclaw
11. Nocturne
12. Coatl
13. Skydancer
14. Gaoler
15. Banescale

Apparel: Breed two of your dragons. The dragons you pick are up to you. You can also change one of the genes on a dragon, or use a scatterscroll if you are rich and crazy.

Note: You must flip a coin for each hatchling once they hatch. If tails, the dragon is dead and you must exalt it. This is in keeping with the origional Nuzlocke thread's rule, because I really like it.

Battle items: Uh-oh!!!

Flip a coin.
Heads = DEATH STREAK
Tails = Nothing happens

DEATH STREAK rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies. If you are using the easymode rules, switch to the hardmode rules for battlestones.

Starting out:
Using the method I detailed in the "familiar" possibility above, obtain a small number of dragons (I suggest 2 or 3). If they already have names, keep the name! If not, name them whatever you like. The challenge starts once all of the dragons, if they are hatchlings, grow into adulthood.

Alternatively, choose 2-3 existing dragons in your lair to participate. This has certain advantages (eliminates the need to wait for maturity and breeding cooldowns) but also some disadvantages (less random=less exciting).

You may want to "partition" your nuzlocke dragons away from your regular dragons so you don't get them mixed up.

Losing:
If your dragon count falls to zero you have a few options
1. Declare the challenge a "loss" and give up
2. Wait for Pinkerton to drop a familiar
3. Just say "welp" and buy another dragon from the AH without waiting for Pinkerton because you lack patience.
Heavily edited, I just took out the unnecessary bits and baubles.

He tried to get up and couldn't. He grimaced as he tried again and felt a sharp pain in his wing- right, his wings. A heavy wooden table was tipped over on a small desk with his wing caught between them, pinching it and keeping him held down. Chapter 0
(weird chunk between prologue and ch 1)
- - - • • • • • - - -

A black and purple Coatl came to with a start. He sat bolt upright and immediately hit his head on a board. He laid his head back and tried to rub between his eyes, but one of his arms was pinned down. And so was his tail and- woah. What happened to this place?
He peered out from under the board and looked at the destruction around him. There were broken chairs littered around this room he was in. A bookshelf was tipped over on his tail and a piece of one of the walls was missing, letting in light so he could see all of this. He freed his arm and kicked the shelf off his tail. He tried to get up and couldn't. He grimaced as he tried again and felt a sharp pain in his wing- right, his wings. He sat up as best he could and carefully pried them apart, slowly pulling his wing out. Once his wing was free, he stumbled out into the world through the hole in the wall.
He stood on top of the small rubble pile and gaped at the scene; broken wood, rocks, and pieces of a path leading down to the beach. He gasped and clutched his head as a splitting headache hit him. He faltered and his foot slipped, sending him rolling into the middle of the destroyed- town? He pounded the ground with his fist as his head throbbed. "Um mum." It garbled, chewing on its fingers. "Alright it's settled then!" He stood up stiffly and picked up the hatchling, placing it on his good shoulder. "TO THE BEACH." He dramatically pointed towards the ocean. "AH BA BEE!" The hatchling mimicked, pointing at the water. The big Coatl took off down the pathway towards the beach. The big Coatl pants, looking back up at the ruined town that he came from. He set the hatchling down on the sand. "Don't go too far, I don't want to have to chase after you." The hatchling tried to run in the sand, but tripped and fell nose-first. It picked itself back up and sneezed, blowing sand everywhere. The big Coatl wadded into the water up to his waist and watched the hatchling start to dig a hole in the sand, flinging it everywhere. He stood still and waited until a few fish started swimming around his legs. He swiped and tried to grab them, but they slipped through his fingers and his arm hurt from moving too fast. He looked back at the shore to check on the little yellow bean. It was poking its head out of the hole and sticking its tongue out at him, looking particularly pleased with itself at building this awesome hole. It then ducked back down and continued digging. He rolled his eyes and got an idea. He took a deep breath and swam around. He spied some starfish and lobsters further down, but had to resurface for more air before he could go get them. He surfaced and looked back at the beach for the hatchling. He saw more sand flying out of the hole, so he took another breath and dove back down, wondering how he was such a good swimmer. He pried a few starfish off their rocks and plucked a few lobsters from the mud before heading back up. He came back up to hear the hatchling balling and crying. He swam back to the beach as fast as he could, worried something could have happened. He dropped his findings on the sand and ran over towards the hole. He saw the hatchling a good ways down reaching up to him. "Oh no, did you get yourself stuck?" He snickered and pulled the little bean out of the hole it dug. It grabbed at him and climbed up his arm and burried itself in his chest plumes, looking fearfully at the hole. "Don't worry, it's just a hole, it can't hurt you. Here, let's fill it in." He said, pushing the sand back into the hole. The hatchling yelled and hopped back down in the hole, shoving the sand back out and picking something up. It showed what it found to him; a pretty piece of blue sea glass almost as big as its hand. "Oh wow. Did you drop it when you realized you were stuck? Let's get you out of there." He reached down for the hatchling, but it plopped the stone in his hand and reached down again and brought up a red piece only slightly smaller than the other. It put that piece in his hand and brought up a green piece, then a yellow one, then another blue one. The big Coatl had to stop it because he couldn't fit all the glass in his hand. "How about we come back and grab more later?" The hatchling squeaked and grabbed a purple piece before climbing up his arm onto his shoulder. Thinking he might need a something to mark the spot, he went and found a piece of driftwood and stuck it in the sand next to the hole before picking up all his starfish and lobsters and heading back up the path to the ruined town. The big Coatl woke up and carefully propped himself against the muddy spire. He rubbed his eyes and looked down at the weight in his plumes to find two big green eyes staring back at him.
"Didi?" It tipped its head at him.
"You're alive! Thank goodness you're alive!" The big Coatl hugged the hatchling tightly and it grunted. "Oh shoot, I'm sorry!" He said, releasing it and carefully setting it down. "Are you hungry?"

"AH BA BEE!" The hatchling mimicked, pointing at the water. The big Coatl took off down the pathway towards the beach.

Chapter 2

In which, Bean "dies"
Waking up with the hatchling under his wing felt strangely familiar, but he shrugged the thought away. He was going to start focusing on his lost memories when he had a good shelter and food source established. He carefully got up as not to wake up the little munchkin. Walking out from under one of the more stable houses they were using as shelter, he saw that the sun hadn't even risen yet, the east was just starting to turn orange. He huffed and went down to the beach to grab some water.

After eating his supper the night before, he cut apart an old sail he found and bandaged himself, wrapping his wing, tail, and shoulder. He offered to bandage anything that the hatchling said hurt, but somehow it seemed to have come through this whole debacle without a scratch.
"We should probably figure out a name for you, shouldn't we?" Said the big Coatl the night before. "Heck, we should probably figure out a name for me."
"DIDI!" Yelled the hatchling between mouth fulls of lobster.
The big Coatl laughed. "How about only you can call me that?" He thought for a moment. "You're a girl, right?" The hatchling glared at him. "Yeesh! Okay! I'm sorry I had to ask! What about Julie?" The hatchling fake-choked and played dead. "I'll take that as a no then." The big Coatl laughed. "Do you have any suggestions?" The hatchling went back to eating lobster and garbled something at him. "Well then. Should I just call you Bean, then?"
"BEEM. BEEM BEEM BEEM." She jumped up and down and tackled her lobster.
"Then it's settled, Bean. And you can keep calling me Didi. I'll figure something out for me later."

Scooping up some water in a bucket he found the day before, he made his way back up to the town. He found Bean playing with her pieces of sea glass she dug up yesterday.
"Thirsty, Bean? You'll have to wait for this to boil and cool down, but I think we might have some left from yesterday." He looks in the pot he scrounged from the other houses and offers the leftover water to the hatchling who shakes her head and keeps playing with her rocks. He shrugs and drinks the rest of the water, leaning up against the still muddy rock spire in the center of the clearing. He starts the fire and gets to work on boiling the water.
