Somewhere is the sprawling expanse of the Abiding Boneyard, tucked away amid the rot and decay, is a clan too small and trivial to warrant a name.

No grand destiny awaits this clan. No stirring histories will be written about it. It holds no great secret or awful power. It's simply a clan of the outcast and unwanted, a motley collection of dragons who could find no home elsewhere.

There is no quest here, no treasure hunt, no war to be fought: just family, picked up along the way when the one the gods granted turned aside.

Hello hello and welcome to my FR fanfic thinly disguised as lore that was meant to be plotless but then it went all plotty on me. I'm withoutwords and I'll be your host this evening as we see just where this rabbit hole of angst is taking us.

My plan here is to force myself to work on my lore by making myself publicly accountable for it. So if I go a week without posting anything, feel free to pelt me with fried clown shrimp or report me to Plaguemama or something. Whatever floats your boat.

Comments and such are a-okay with me. No need to ping me, I'm subscribed and also hopefully will be here on the daily to notice new posts.

Also if you would like to link your lore to mine, I am totally open to discussing it. Eager at the prospect, even.

The clan's lair is really more of a village, tucked between a hill and a low cliff. Much of it is free-standing structures, though some is dug into the cliffside and some of it is underground, making the whole of it appear smaller than it should be at first glance. plagueshieldl.png
The village is split into a number of small zones or neighborhoods, each built to a specific sort of dragon, to allow them all to be together but also be comfortable. It has a central square abutting the Guardhouse, where clan gatherings take place.

Due to the Theater, the clan has many visitors and there's usually a crowd of vendors on the other side of the hill, but access to the village proper is strictly controlled.

Ametrine stopped expecting kindness from the gods a long time ago. Maybe that's why they've chosen to show her kindness now.

Ysaly swears he isn't doing this on purpose, but must candidly admit he isn't exactly upset that it keeps happening.

Truce
part 1: Some things are worth the risk of trusting the enemy for, worth the chance of trickery and a trap. Some things are worth anything.
part 2: Never let it be said that the gods, confronted with a delicate and complicated situation, won't jump at the chance to complicate it a little more.
part 3: Lifelong mindsets don't change easily, but they can be changed, with time. Hopefully, time is the one thing they have.
interlude: A wound may be too old to bleed, but that doesn't make it too old to ache.
part 4: The similarities are there, if you know where to look, in greater abundance than the differences.
part 5: Not every beginning has to be rooted in an ending. Sometimes, it's simply rooted in change.

Forging a new way of life is difficult, but opens up possibilities the old way would never have allowed.
If you'd like a slightly easier reading experience (i.e. larger text and multipart stories all in one place), you can find most of this stuff crossposted to AO3.
