The darkness around him was warm and comfortable, seemingly drawing Bachue deeper into its embrace, for once the virulence in his veins was still. He never wanted to wake, but something was pulling at him, dragging him back to the waking realm.

"it's not your time yet, rise, survive."

A voice whispered in his mind and as much as he didn't wish to listen, Bachue clawed his way to consciousness...

The moment he cracked open his eyes, he was aware of his head laying in another's lap, gentle claws running over his scales. It felt so nice after so long without touch, and even though he knew he was putting this person at risk, he couldn't help but melt.

"Come my darling,
And raise your voice.
Let the mother hear you,
When our songs are on the wind,
Our survival is assured."

The soft, crooning voice above him felt familiar, and his hazy brain tried to place it. But he quickly decided it was too hard, and decided to drift into a light sleep, comforted that he was okay.

@elysifish Aah, I'm so sorry, I added both your dragons to the poll as soon as I noticed your post, but forgot to confirm it here. Anyway - they're both on the list!

Then he felt it, a stinging, burning sensation starting in his chest and spreading throughout his limbs at an alarming rate. His legs buckled and he fell to his knees. His eyes opened, but he couldn't see. Nothing but fear filled his mind. He thought he was ready, thought he was prepared, but as the plague spread through his veins, all he could feel was pain. In the back of his mind, he saw his home nest. His brothers and sisters, curled up around eachother. A family he had never known and never will know. Tears fell down his cheeks. As soon as it began, however, the fear began to leave him. His vision returned, blurry but there, and he felt his strength return to his limbs. Tears still falling, Aurus slowly got to his feet. His breath was erratic but he could feel everything. the air burned his throat and his veins felt like acid, but he felt envigorated, like he had eaten an entire bucket of coffee beans. He felt like he could do anything, like he was the most powerful dragon in the world. He let out a terrible screech, a call that could be heard miles away. His throat was raw but he continued to scream. Finally, his voice failed him and he was left heaving, alone in the wastelands. by elysifish

Those days he'd lounge on the floor of the entourage's den, with copious amounts of heating packs and blankets on him. Soon enough he heard heavy footsteps enter the room and his eye cracked open to watch the ghoul, Bachue enter with books their mistress had likely asked him to put away. "How are you feeling, Visage? I heard your joints are acting up." The large bogsneak rumbled, wandering over and laying next to the mercy. "It is manageable, but inconvenient. I feel bad I am not able to help you all." He hid himself further under the blanket and peered out at the other, the bogsneak shook his head. "Just you being around is good enough for the rest of us. But if you are feeling up to it, the mistress suggested I get you to eat some of the blight from me." Getting a grunt of consent, Bachue stuck his arm into the blanket mound and felt the build up of disease drain out as the mercy bit into the limb. A few minutes later, the drain stopped and he pulled his arm back. "Feel better?" "Yes, it helped a bit. Thank-you Bachue." "Any time Visage, any time." A network of mold sprouted from underneath dark enchanted armor and ran along its body, gluing together half-rotted flesh and bone. What little skin was exposed was a putrefied shade of green that cracked and peeled painfully away at the joints. Jagged scars came down its massive sides- testaments to the plague that had once coursed through it to bring it to this state. Barely cognizant, it fixated on her, attempting to shamble towards her. Limbs the size and width of her body hauled their master towards her but failed and gave out, dropping the creature to the ground. She made a note- the mold still needed more time to infest the being, its muscles more decayed than she thought. Perhaps more armor would be needed? She hushed the creature as it attempted to raise itself once more, bidding it to fall back asleep. It was alive at least, though only barely, and had required both the help of the shade to draw the plague from it and a special mold she had created to stabilize it. "It" was an imperial dragon and a ghoul, nameless as far as she knew, that she had neutralized. She had found it shambling outside her secluded home in the Earthshaker's domain deep within the ancient burial grounds. It was unusually fleshy amidst the undead that typically made this their haunt and she'd quickly spotted it. Taking it in she had experimented on it for months, neutralizing and then attempting to repair the decayed mass of flesh in her care with various species of fungi. Eventually she called on the help of the shade, requesting its power as she enchanted armor which would strengthen the ghoul and aid its movement. She had hoped to leave the shade entirely out of this, but she saw no other option- her fungi were excellent at holding things together, not moving them forward, and while she had managed to stabilize the flesh she had not seen a way to give it strength. That seemed to have been the correct choice, as today was the first day the ghoul had been able to stand on its own. Promising progress indeed. Finishing her notes, she sighed and looked at her hands. They were gnarled and overcome with fungi, her own body riddled with similar scars and decayed flesh. Though on her body her scars were pure black, a reminder of the master she had given herself over to. For that, her existence was even more vile than the ghoul she had glued back together. Squeezing her eyes shut Indusine breathed deeply in, then out. It would be best if she didn't dwell on this longer, these thoughts never led to anywhere productive. Closing her journal and pushing it off to the side she pulled a petri dish from a shelf next to her desk and gently placed it in front of her. A delicate webbing of light brown mold grew there, her favorite sample of mold she had so far. Indusine sat, gazing upon it and losing herself in the intricate patterns it had so effortlessly formed in the dish until she had calmed herself. Ah, if only she could do this forever...
