UPDATE 1/02/20: Hello everybody! Sorry, I think I haven't been clear enough. Since I just slowly phased out of being able to write critique since I was busy but always thought 'I'll come back to it soon' I left the thread as it was. Now I've updated the title with '[closed]' so that it'll be clear I will no longer be writing critique. I should've done this a lot sooner, sorry everybody :( However, I'm planning on getting back to critiquing, making the process a whole lot clearer and cleaner, etc. and will be making a new thread! So stay tuned :3
Hey guys, I feel like being mean and judging people's art today. @SuperNinjaDragon Any critique helps us greatly so here is a few of our art, so we can figure out what we are doing wrong. Since we are never able to sell commissions easily for art stalls. Sorry for the amount.....but I have tried getting critique from people on these, and it is hard to get anything honest.... @somersault I honestly think it looks good but... HARSH CRITIQUE TIME. This monster girl has good proportions overall, however more attention must be paid to perspective. For example, the arms. The eyes aren't equal as well (Making eyes the same is hell in drawing I admit). I'll quickly assume you purposely chose to use flat, unshaded colours. Your colour scheme is alright, but some colours clash unpleasantly, such as the colours in the pollen of the flower and in her hair. The hair itself should be more, eh, flowy and stuff. Try out smooth long strokes. [s]Damn it, why can't I be mean[/s] Anyways, on to the next artwork! Wings aren't in the right position: they seem to be on her right side, not on her back. This another perspective issue! Try working on it :) Shading can be elaborated on, and the composition of the drawing can be improved. For example, the wispy leg bit (I know what it is, but I dunno what it's called) can go more diagonal-ish down. Colours are greatly put together, but be aware her hair stands out as it is a warm colour against cool colours. Hope this helps, and sorry for not being harsh enough!

@Gem4567 I'm just gonna judge the second one, since it's better than your fist one - I can see the improvement! I think the hair shouldn't be individual pencil strokes - try to draw clumps with lines as detail in them. For example, this artwork (not mine of course, I just quickly googled 'hair'): You can see the hair can be somewhat grouped in a 'clumps', and individual pencil strokes are drawn within them to create detail. Try to think of hair like that. In fact, sometimes detail isn't needed in the clumps as seen in this random anime style art: Try to also make hair more floofy - as in the to examples above where the hair doesn't lie flat against their head. Just draw the hair a millimetre so more above where her head is. You can also work on perspective for the fins, as they seem to be on different angles from her head. Other than that, you've paid excellent detail the design of your gjinka and your proportions are better than the ones that beginners often have!

@SuperNinjaDragon

yo thats some darn good criticism! i might actually just screen shot that since that's the most in depth analysis on my arts ive seen. a million thanks, especially the tip on the warm vs cool colours, i knew something felt odd about that.
ohyeah i forgot to mention in the first doodle that she is actually a computery flower virus (.hack//imoq is so hard to explain, ohboy) so that'd explain the squiggly lines, its kinda like a circuit skin. but other than that youre very right about the proportioning!

golly i was hoping for tears but your words were so sweet and useful im smiling, hehe C:

Eyes are also angled wrongly. Crown seems tilted at the top. I suggest the use of guidelines so you can keep proportions good. For example. the guidelines in the pic below ensure the violin (or viola?) is symmetrical. Don't rely too much on guidelines though: they're called guides for a reason! Your colouring's actually really good, and I suggest shading in more areas such as under the crown and in the feathers.
