After a few hours all our bags were bulging with food and sellable items. We turn to leave, but then Lance exclaims, "Look! Another Guardian! Coming from behind that hill!" I couldn't see what he was talking about, he had a better view of the area due to his height. Sure enough after a few seconds I see large pale horns and wingtips of a guardian. It had bones adorning its head, and armor seemingly made of discolored bone. From here I could see its eyes were the bright red of the plague realm. I would like to request to the leader of your clan if we could find some shelter for the night, or possibly join your clan permanently." I step forward. "I am my clan's leader. It is just you two traveling?"I ask as I eye Shale. "Yes, just us two. If you wish to know my skills, I was the captain of the guard of my clan's lair. I am a seasoned warrior, and have crafted this armor myself. Valerie here is quite adept at making apparel and small trinkets." It wouldn't be bad I suppose to add another couple of clanmates. The lair still has ample space, over half of the bedrooms are still unused. "You may join, so long as you swear loyalty to me and my clanmates. I must warn you though, survival with us is a bit more difficult than other places. I am Draco, this is Lance, and he is Taz." I introduce us, nodding at my brothers. "That is alright with me. I can fight, and I will protect my clanmates at any cost, especially my Charge here Valerie." I notice that Taz had flown over to the young imperial and was having a quiet conversation with her. "Wow!" Exclaims Lance, "You've already found your Charge? That's so cool! I've heard some dragons search their whole lives and can't find theirs! I can't wait to find mine!" I cringe a little, reminded that sometime, possibly soon, Lance will be overtaken with wanderlust for the Search to find his Charge. In all likelihood he will have to leave Taz and I. "Yes, I am quite fortunate," she nods at Valerie, "she hatched in my clan just before they disbanded, and I'm glad my Search began and ended within my old clan." She turns her attention to me, "I'm sorry if I interrupted your hunting." "Don't worry about it. We were just going to head home actually. My mate is waiting for us." "Are there more besides your mate?" "No, well yes, our eggs are to hatch soon," I say, preparing to take off. "Lance, Taz, come on, let's lead our new clanmates home." I fly up, circling as I wait for the rest to take to the air. The guardians both take running starts, their paws hitting the ground with large thuds before they launch into the air with a final loud boom. Valerie jumped into the air quietly, but still seemed wobbly on her wings, she must have learned how to fly recently. Taz stuck by her side since they were both slower than the rest of us. I turn and lead us all home. The blizzard had come suddenly, without warning. Luckily Ferguson was able to find us a small cave, to which he used his body as a door until the snow packed us in. I look to the entrance where the guardian was still sleeping. The snow blocking the entrance had an glossy sheen, a thin layer of ice due to our warm breaths. I push Theo's extra fluffy tail off of me. His winter coat has grown in nicely, but has given him the awkward overly fluffy appearance of an unshaven sheep with straight fur. He doesn't seem to mind, it keeps us all warm. I walk over to Ferguson, and find that he's not awake. He's staring at the icy snow, his breath creating large clouds of mist. "Good Morning," he smiled, "sound's like the storm has stopped, hasn't it?" "Yeah. I was hoping it would end soon. Our food supply wouldn't be able to support us for another few days in here." "Let's go out and hunt then. We can leave your young ones to rest," Ferguson stood up, and leaned his shoulder on the ice-crusted snow. The ice made a soft groaning noise, and began to crackle. Suddenly large cracks appeared on the surface, and the whole pile of snow caved in on top of the guardian. Some snow rushed into the cave, burying my legs. I could see a small gap of sunlight peeking out near the roof of the cave. There is a lot of snow outside. "Ferguson?" I ask to the pile of snow. I hear crunching snow, and see the pile move a bit as he tunneled his way out. He doesn't emerge on my side, but as he exits the pile of snow, the top collapses, leaving a large space to exit the cave. I see the guardian outside in the snow, shaking his wings of the white powder. I look back to my children, and see that everyone but Pandora have managed to sleep through the noise. Pandora yawns and waves her little paw, then curls back up into Theo's fur. I join Ferguson outside, the snow consistently brushing my chest as I walk. I can already feel my toes becoming chilled. "We should fly, I don't think I'll be able to trudge through this deep snow for too long." Ferguson nods, and gracefully leaps into the sky. I follow shortly, struggling to get enough speed to jump out of the deep snow. When we are both high enough to avoid even the tallest trees Ferguson asks, "So is this jumping between abandoned caves and large trees for shelter your plan, or do you have a better idea?" I can't tell if his words are sarcastic, but I decide he meant them as a genuine question. "I was originally hoping to find a clan to join, but I've forgotten how well hidden Shadow lairs are." I frown, "Perhaps we could make our way to the fairgrounds for the Trickmurk Circus. I think the festival starts in a few weeks, and we could visit clans we find along the way." "Do you know where these grounds are at? I have no idea, since I originate from Wind." "I do. The fairgrounds are in the northwest corner of the Shadow realm. We are in the southwest quadrant. Flying there without stopping would take over a week, and I know my children struggle with flying nonstop for one day. If we push our pace and stock up on food when we stop for the nights we could reach there by walking and flying in around two and a half weeks. Plus a faster pace would keep us warmer during the days in this bitter cold." "Sounds like a good plan." We were quiet for a while, floating on the gentle winter breeze. "There, I see a place to hunt. Let's go." We both dive for the ground, preparing to hunt for the day. New clanmates for Taz! *throws confetti*

Also, I hope the Kul would enjoy the circus with the rest of the clan, even though it would be tiring to go there.

"Rrrgh. What? It's so early?" I roll over and tuck my head under my wing. I had been having a good dream of a time when I went exploring with one of my older brothers. This bed nearby to the nesting grounds was comfier than my old bed. "It's happening!" She whispered excitedly. What's it? Theres nothi- I snap my head up and look at my beautiful imperial. Her eyes were shining with delight. The hatchlings! "Why didn't you tell me sooner! Let's go! We need to get the others!" I scramble out of bed and stumble down the halls, my legs still not entirely awake. I call out to everyone as I pass their rooms, and hurry to the nest. When I arrive Candy is curled around the nest like she usually sat. I lean over her shoulder to watch our eggs hatch. The egg closest to us rocked back and fourth, glowing intensely blue. The second egg was a bit quieter, but also seemed close to hatching. The third egg...it wasn't moving at all, and the glow was dull. "Candy...is there something wrong with that egg?" I ask quietly. But I already know the answer. I too had noticed its glow becoming dull a few days ago. She doesn't say anything, confirming my thoughts. It didn't make it. Lance burst into the quiet room, with Taz flying quickly after him, "Tell me I didn't miss their hatching!" He puffs. Shale and Valerie enter the room as well, both staying near the entrance. Valerie looked like she wanted to come closer, but something, not Shale, was holding her back. Perhaps she didn't feel like a part of the clan yet. "Valerie, Shale, you can come closer," smiles Candy. "You're a part of our clan now." Valerie nods shyly, and crouches low next to Candy, peeking into the nest. Shale remains by the doorway, awkwardly ruffling her wings. I hear a sharp crack and look back at my eggs to see the wobbling one had burst the colorful gems on the surface and deep cracks were widening. The egg falls on its side and out of the sticky egg goo and shell steps a little white and purple imperial. She squeaks, and looks at all of us, curiosity in her dark purple eyes. She quickly jumped to her feet, and stumbled a few times as she tried to run at her sister. She cried out loudly as she stumbled and tripped. "No," she sighs, "this one didn't make it..." She pulls the dead egg in close to her chest, as if wishing she could give it some of her life. "It's alright Candy...look at our two daughters the fate has given us." I nuzzle my distraught mate under her chin, "What shall we name them?" "The white one, I want to call Lara, and the red and blue one...Marten?" She smiles as she watches Lance get attacked by the two hatchlings. He feigns dying, and the two hatchlings screech in delight when he suddenly comes back to life. "Those names are perfect, Lara and Marten. Should we name this one?" I ask, nudging the dead egg. "Yes...His name is Emry...May he return to Sornieth as a stronger dragon someday..." Candy has tears in her eyes as she names her unborn son. "Shh. It's alright. Look, let's take our daughters for a nap. Poor girls are already tired out." Both little hatchlings yawned and batted lazily at Valerie's tail fur. I nudge them toward Candy and my room. "I-I'm going to bury...Emry first. I'll be there in a bit." Candy shuffles out of the lair, tightly clutching the egg to her chest. "Here darling...I'll come with you," Shale says as she leaves. Candy nods and they both exit the lair. Lance and Taz nod to me and leave as I finally manage to direct the little imperials to my bed.
