Gene Error Updates

This thread is to track any gene errors that occur with the Chorus breed release. This thread is for the newly released Chorus genes only, and does not encompass previously released genes.

In this thread, players may report any errors they encounter with the new genes. These can be technical errors, or consistency issues. This thread is intended to focus on these potential errors so that they can be addressed swiftly

We define technical errors as things such as: pattern bleed, pixellation, halo effects, inconsistencies within the same breed, color swatch errors, genes being uploaded in place of other genes, misaligned templates, missing artwork, gaps, missing pixels along a seam, missing line art, stray pixels, patterns that bleed outside the silouette, etc.

We define consistency/style differences as differences between an existing gene and its counterparts on other breeds that may differ. Sometimes this is intentional, sometimes it's an oversight. If a style difference is brought up, we will confirm it as working as intended, or report it as an error and complete the change within a 45-day time limit.

Please report any errors you encounter and we will do our best to correct them in a timely manner. This thread will close out 46 days after release, on October 5, 2026 After this time, players may report technical issues with these and other gene errors in the Ancient Gene Error Backlog Thread, but further consistency issues will not be accepted for review and will be considered working as intended.

Note that it may take a short while for the site's internal image cache to reflect the corrected image assets.

Corrected Issues

P Begonia (Chorus H & M) - The elbow frills were missing the the elbow frill edging present in the F-pose. Fixed.
P Boulder (Chorus H) - The base color had an inconsistent fill color. Fixed.
P Crosshatch (Chorus F) - The pattern from one head bled slightly onto the belly of another. Fixed.
P Orb (Chorus M) - One of the horns did not have the spot outline color. Fixed.
P Tapir (Chorus F) - The stripe from the dragon head on the left bled onto the central neck. Fixed.
S Rex (Chorus H) - Some of the spots on the tip of the hatchling's tail were inconsistent with the F & M poses. Fixed.
T Batty (Chorus F) - The exposed inner wing did not have a strong interior color like the inside parts of the wing on other breeds. Fixed.
T Stained - The line art was not affecting the tinting enough. Fixed.
T Flecks (Chorus F & M) - The line art was a bit thick in places. Fixed.

Known Issues

Eyes - Primal (Arcane) - The glowing outline on this is too bright.
S Hawkmoth - The head crests should have a small amount of trailing pattern.
T Flecks (Chorus F) - The gradient highlight is a bit too opaque.

Working as intended

Multi-Gaze & Line-Breaking Tertiaries: Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.
Dimension/Warp: The colors used for Dimension/Warp are identical to those used in other versions of the gene and are considered working-as-intended.
Begonia/Rex: The color palette chosen for this gene was confirmed by the artist and is considered working-as-intended.
Confetti/Celebration: The color palette chosen for this gene was confirmed by the artist and is considered working-as-intended.
Fishbone: The placement and shape of the gene is considered working-as-intended.
Kythalos: The placement and shaping on the spots is considered working-as-intended.

I will be deleting reports that are not relevant to the Chorus breed release, reports that have been corrected, reports are not considered an issue, duplicate reports, and discussion or chatter as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current with gene reports only.

Posting thing I noticed during previews: Caterpillar Female: The frontmost head has lines that do not wrap around the skull properly. The skull shape, especially with other genes like Begonia or Vitrail, indicate we are seeing the top of the head at an angle, whereas the snout-lines on Caterpillar are suggesting the top of the head is off to the side, and the center line near the horns looks like it is crawling up the side of the left horn instead of being centered between the horns. Additionally, the horn-line stops completely at the cheek fluffs instead of wrapping all the way around the dragon's head like it's supposed to. In my opinion, the Female's center-head, the Male's rightmost (his left, our right), and the Hatchling's frontmost head have a little bit of this issue going on, but the Female's frontmost head is absolutely the most egregious and distracting of all of them and I'd at least would like that one fixed. And based on other dragons like Abbies, Aethers, and Auraboas, Caterpillar's lines are intended to be roughly mirrored down the midline of the dragon. Chorus just does not feel like Caterpillar is following the implied curvature of the snout. the vitrail tertiary gene appears to have an issue where the black parts of the gene on the wing frills do not extend to the end of the breed art, causing a jagged white outline on all poses. this is most noticeable in dark or slate mode, so i have taken screenshots with dark mode enabled so they are easy for everyone to see.

Chrysocolla and malachite on Chorus appear to have rather small spots compared to other breeds.

the opacity of the glow on arcane primal seems to be having an issue once again

compared to a modern and other recent ancients:

edit: also adding that plague primal seems to be missing the "tendrils" that grow outward from the red flesh around the green boils that are seen on all moderns and most ancients (vigils are also missing the tendrils and thorntails only have 2 small ones at the corners of each "eye")

Linework on the stomach of vitrail have a very uneven and rough look compared to the rest of the gene (all poses all colors) and i can see the brush strokes (most noticeable on adult males)

Chorus Jewel colors are quite different than the Aberration Jewel colors. Affects all poses and seems to affect all colors.

Darker colors seem brighter overall while lighter colors are sometimes darker (eg. orca or platinum), there's not much of a soft transition, and I'm not sure if the accent-colored "crescent" was intended to be shading like in the Aberration version. Colors with high contrast and many variable accents (eg. copper and tarnish) seem to indicate it might not be picking from the same parts of the palette.

Darker colors seem brighter overall while lighter colors are sometimes darker (eg. orca or platinum), there's not much of a soft transition, and I'm not sure if the accent-colored "crescent" was intended to be shading like in the Aberration version. Colors with high contrast and many variable accents (eg. copper and tarnish) seem to indicate it might not be picking from the same parts of the palette.

Based on the gene previews we've been having and the correcting of Hatch between the reveal and the release, I believe that the head fins on all 3 Chorus poses are too bald for Hawkmoth.

This lack of any pattern is also unlike any option seen with other dragons with Hawkmoth. Based on other Chorus Genes, plus based on other Dragon's version of Hawkmoth, it seems like the main head's fin would have the core pattern of Hawkmoth, with the side heads' fins having some sort of vertical stripes or outer contour pattern to it.

Auraboa features a bunch of the non-main Hawkmoth patterning, including the vertical stripes on the crest with two different colors (one accent one not), and one on the arms where there's the darker accent color with a contouring of the extremely dark color.

Sandies are a good analogue as our other "wingless" breed.
