Gene Error Updates

This thread is to track any gene errors that occur with the Dusthide Gene Expansion. This thread is for the newly released Dusthide genes only, and does not encompass previously released genes.

In this thread, players may report any errors they encounter with the new genes. These can be technical errors, or consistency issues. This thread is intended to focus on these potential errors so that they can be addressed swiftly

We define technical errors as things such as: pattern bleed, pixellation, halo effects, inconsistencies within the same breed, color swatch errors, genes being uploaded in place of other genes, misaligned templates, missing artwork, gaps, missing pixels along a seam, missing line art, stray pixels, patterns that bleed outside the silouette, etc.

We define consistency/style differences as differences between an existing gene and its counterparts on other breeds that may differ. Sometimes this is intentional, sometimes it's an oversight. If a style difference is brought up, we will confirm it as working as intended, or report it as an error and complete the change within a 45-day time limit.

Please report any errors you encounter and we will do our best to correct them in a timely manner. This thread will close out 46 days after release, on August 17, 2026 After this time, players may report technical issues with these and other gene errors in the Ancient Gene Error Backlog Thread, but further consistency issues will not be accepted for review and will be considered working as intended.

Note that it may take a short while for the site's internal image cache to reflect the corrected image assets.

Corrected Issues

Armor - Dusthide M pose did not have a gradient on the tip of the back horn. Fixed.
Capsule - The color gradient is a touch too strong. Fixed.
Chrysocolla - The pattern was brought a little bit further into the stomach area.
Flutter - The layering of the tail fans should be symmetrical. Fixed.
Koi - The border edges were slightly reduced.
Lace - The patterning is a bit smaller compared to most breeds that have this gene. Fixed.
Morph - The accent color gradient was brought a little bit further into the wings.
Mottle - The gradient fade has been updated to show up stronger on the edges of the wing spines.
Pharaoh - The color splotches on the tail were given a slightly stronger gradient.
Poison - The nail color was made to be consistent with breeds that have the horn color used on their nails.
Silkspot - The elbow membrane was given a small gradient to match other versions of the gene.
Slime/Sludge - The accent color was reduced slightly so that more of the base color of the dragon could show through.
Spectre - The eye flames are missing. Fixed.
Swirl - The tail had some areas where some colors were not fully opaque. Fixed.
Tide - The tongue is the incorrect color on the M-pose, and the claws/horns were not transluscent as is present in other versions of the gene. Fixed

Known Issues

Working as intended

Multi-Gaze & Line-Breaking Tertiaries: Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.
Metallic Alloy Shadow coverage - this is considered to be within the acceptable range of variance for the gene, and is working-as-intended!
Armor Gradient Colors - the color choices for the accent gradient are a closer range to their base on some colors, while others are a more striking accent color. This is considered to be working-as-intended.
Agate - the shine is considered to be working-as-intended.
Marble/Mottle - The back of a Dusthide's wing uses the primary gene. THis is considered working-as-intended and is consistent throughout the breed.
Hawkmoth - Hawkmoth has two pattern sections in each wing. The back wing's second pattern section of the Dusthide M-Pose is partially hidden behind its leg, but its continuity is visible coming out behind it. This is considered working-as-intended.
Paradise - The criss-cross of the feathers is considered working-as-intended.

I will be deleting reports that are not relevant to the Dusthide gene expansion release, reports that have been corrected, reports are not considered an issue, duplicate reports, and discussion or chatter as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current with gene reports only.
