This thread is to track any gene errors that have occurred for
ancient dragons in releases that are more than 45 days old. Fixes will be done when time and bandwidth allow.
In this thread, players may report any errors they encounter with older ancient genes. This thread is for technical errors only. We do not accept consistency error reports on genes that are more than 45 days old.
We define technical errors as things such as: pattern bleed, pixellation, halo effects, inconsistencies within the same breed, color swatch errors, genes being uploaded in place of other genes, misaligned templates, missing artwork, gaps, missing pixels along a seam, missing line art, stray pixels, patterns that bleed outside the silouette, etc.
We define consistency/style differences as differences between an existing gene and its counterparts on other breeds that may differ. Sometimes this is intentional, sometimes it's an oversight.
Please report any technical errors you encounter. We intend to fix all technical errors, though this thread is not considered a priority thread. These fixes will be implemented as time and team availability allow.
Note that it may take a short while for the site's internal image cache to reflect the corrected image assets.
Corrected Issues
- Eye: Multi-gaze (Undertide H) - There was pixel bleed present on the right side of the canvas. Fixed.
- P Ground (Sandsurge) - The second layer of shadow should have shown both the cracks and the dimensionality of the dragon. Fixed.
- P Mosaic: (Aether F) - The shadow layer on the horns was missing. Fixed.
- Primary: Piebald (Dusthide M) - Some of the added spots had doubled up shadows. Fixed.
- Primary: Twinkle (Aether M) - Strawberry Twinkle came back from the war.
- Secondary: Fissure (Sandsurge) - The second layer of shadow should have shown both the cracks and the dimensionality of the dragon. Fixed.
- Tertiary Branches: (Undertide M) - The incorrect branch color was used compared to other Undertides and all other instances of the branches gene. Fixed.
- Tertiary: Stained (All Banescale) - The teeth and tongue are no longer stained.
Known Issues
- Tertiary Sailfin: (Undertide F) - The shadows are missing on a small portion of the fin.
Investigating (Not sure if issue or not)
Working as intended
- Multi-Gaze & Line-Breaking Tertiaries: Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.
- Primary: Stitched (all) The rose color has bright red patches. The light pink shadow layer of rose is present in these patches, but is too faint as to show up well against such a vibrant color. This will not be corrected, as it would involve changing the colors of the patches or native shadow hue of rose on a gene that's been released for years.
I will be deleting reports that are not relevant to the ancient genes that have been out for more than 45 days, reports that have been corrected, reports are not considered an issue, duplicate reports, and discussion or chatter as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current with gene reports only.

yay, new ancient gene error thread!
it looks like mosaic for aether f pose is missing the shading on the horns and spines along the back. i noticed it on one of my own dragons first, but it seems like it affects every color, leaving it as flat color only:

i don't think their claws are included in this, but it may be worthwhile to double-check too!

sailfin on female undertides on one spot is very standing out as if it is missing additional shading. I know this part is supposedly more hit by light than back part of it (right where it connect before fin) but it is very standing out compared to rest of sailfin. I feel like adding just little shading would help a bit to not look as empty

Radioactive Banescales still have blue horns and spines on some genes where there they should be a different color and/or a pattern (that is otherwise missing).
Tide (shouldn't be blue at all)

Some genes like Crystal and Metallic have the correct horns and/or patterns however that aren't plain blue.

On Gaoler females, on the front left foot (that is to say, the one that's in the center of the image facing the viewer), the two middle claws are fully shaded rather than being normally colored and then shaded underneath the way the claws on either side of them, the toes on that foot, and all the claws on the visible back foot which is in a similar position are. This has been present since Gaolers launched and is an issue on all colors in all primary genes and most likely tertiaries that apply color to the claws like Runes, Smoke, and Stained. I think it's also in the skin/accent files.
Shown on XX Cerise/Cerise because the shading is very high contrast in this color

The innermost claw on the front right foot might also be an error in this same way, but I don't know if it's just meant to be in shadow because of the position relative to the shading on the leg.

Auraboa Affection appears to be missing the tail gradient on females. This is inconsistent with both Hatchlings and Males, and affects all colors. Example I'll be using is Cyan.

Banescale Hatchling Trimmings Errors
Trimmings have a few inconsistencies on Banescale Hatchlings.
1. Trimmings lacks a wing dot on the Hatchling pose
Every Banescale pose, where possible to be drawn/seen, has three dots on their wings. They're on the inside and outside.
However, the hatchling Trimmings is missing the most prominent one of the three, making it look blank. Not consistent within breed.

From what I've checked, it appears only on hatchling sprites, thus isn't consistent within the same breed.

3. Trimmings end abrubtly on the left wing
Scry a Banescale hatchling with Trimmings + Spinner and it's apparent rightaway that Trimmings ends too abruptly. Trimmings lines Banescales' entire lower line of their wings and doesn't get cut off anywhere else, thus is inconsistent within the breed itself. Plus, it looks wonky.

Sandsurge Flaunt on Females appears to lack the tail colors for the like...diamonds in the pattern??? Along with potentially more colors missing in the tail for the gene. Radioactive is being used for this. This appears to have occurred due to the initial gene fix for Sandsurge Flaunt/Flair.

Note the purple in the tail's pattern. Along with the "diamonds" being red.
