TOPIC | Backlog - Ancient Gene Errors
Please check the known issues and working-as-intended sections before making a report!

To be notified of any gene fixes and updates, please subscribe to this Pinglist:
This thread is to track any gene errors that have occurred for ancient dragons in releases that are more than 45 days old. Fixes will be done when time and bandwidth allow.

In this thread, players may report any errors they encounter with older ancient genes. This thread is for technical errors only. We do not accept consistency error reports on genes that are more than 45 days old.

We define technical errors as things such as: pattern bleed, pixellation, halo effects, inconsistencies within the same breed, color swatch errors, genes being uploaded in place of other genes, misaligned templates, missing artwork, gaps, missing pixels along a seam, missing line art, stray pixels, patterns that bleed outside the silouette, etc.

We define consistency/style differences as differences between an existing gene and its counterparts on other breeds that may differ. Sometimes this is intentional, sometimes it's an oversight.

Please report any technical errors you encounter. We intend to fix all technical errors, though this thread is not considered a priority thread. These fixes will be implemented as time and team availability allow.

Note that it may take a short while for the site's internal image cache to reflect the corrected image assets.

 • P Spool (Aether M) - There is some pixel bleed on the edge of the belly.
 • S Flair (Sandsurge F) - The tail diamonds and center are missing the accent color.
 • T Koi (Aberration) - There is a pixel halo that needs to be cleaned up.
 • T Trimmings (Banescale H) - The front wing is missing a dot and there is bleed onto the horns.
 • T Wavecrest (Everlux M) - The wavecrest gene should be slightly visible behind the back wing.

Investigating (Not sure if issue or not)

Working as intended
 • Multi-Gaze & Line-Breaking Tertiaries: Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.
 • Primary: Stitched (all) The rose color has bright red patches. The light pink shadow layer of rose is present in these patches, but is too faint as to show up well against such a vibrant color. This will not be corrected, as it would involve changing the colors of the patches or native shadow hue of rose on a gene that's been released for years.
 • Gaoler F Claw Shadows The templates have existed with the shadows they have since the breed launched over 5 years ago. These are the templates are used to make both the genes and skins across site, and cannot be altered at this point without significant disruption.
 • Medusa It is considered working as intended and within the allowance of variance for the number and head shape/pose to vary between species.
 • Wicker/Woven The colors on wicker and woven are consistent for both the gene and the breed. This is not considered a technical issue.
 • Python/Morph (Auraboa F, Gold) The line width on the borders of gold is consistent with every other color. The color of the colors on gold is consistent with every other gold. This is considered working as intended.
 • Starmap/Constellation (Auraboa) The strength of the glows is within the allowance of the gene, and is not considered a technical issue.
 • Flaunt (Auraboa) The pattern crossing over the belly is also present in certain modern poses to a lesser degree, and is consistent within the breed. This is not considered a technical issue.
 • Harlequin (Auraboa) The claw hands having some "gloved" hands and some "fingerless gloved" hands is a feature of this gene, and is consistent with other breeds.
 • Morph (Auraboa) The claw hands on the upper and lower wings being two different colors is internally consistent within the breed, and is not considered a technical issue.
 • Riot - The placement of these genes was intentional, and does need to adjust to different wing anatomies.
 • Hex The mane treatments on hex differ by breed. As long as it is internally consistent within the breed and has no bleed or overt errors, this pattern differentiation is considered working as intended and is not a technical issue.
 • Rabicano/Roan - These genes are intended to by dimorphic in their color and patterning.
 • Poison (Veilspun) - While the claws not being colored in is a consistency issue between breeds, it is consistent within the breed itself and does not radically change the look of the gene to be unrecognizable. This gene was released years ago. This thread is only for technical issues and internal breed consistency past 45 days of a genes initial release.

I will be deleting reports that are not relevant to the ancient genes that have been out for more than 45 days, reports that have been corrected, reports are not considered an issue, duplicate reports, and discussion or chatter as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current with gene reports only.

Banescale Hatchling Trimmings Errors

Trimmings have a few inconsistencies on Banescale Hatchlings.

1. Trimmings lacks a wing dot on the Hatchling pose

Every Banescale pose, where possible to be drawn/seen, has three dots on their wings. They're on the inside and outside.

However, the hatchling Trimmings is missing the most prominent one of the three, making it look blank. Not consistent within breed.

2. Trimmings bleeds into Banescale H horns/spikes

First seen in this post.
From what I've checked, it appears only on hatchling sprites, thus isn't consistent within the same breed.

3. Trimmings end abrubtly on the left wing

Scry a Banescale hatchling with Trimmings + Spinner and it's apparent rightaway that Trimmings ends too abruptly. Trimmings lines Banescales' entire lower line of their wings and doesn't get cut off anywhere else, thus is inconsistent within the breed itself. Plus, it looks wonky.

Sandsurge Flaunt on Females appears to lack the tail colors for the like...diamonds in the pattern??? Along with potentially more colors missing in the tail for the gene. Radioactive is being used for this. This appears to have occurred due to the initial gene fix for Sandsurge Flaunt/Flair. There's a bit of colour bleed/haloing on spool for male aethers, on the front paw pads. This shows up best if you put a dark underbelly tert over a colour of spool that has very light paw pads surrounded by a dark colour--blush is a good example. I haven't seen this issue on any other primary gene with the same colour setup, so I think the problem lies with spool rather than underbelly. Not 100% sure because there is no other belly gene to test with, and I can't find another primary with a bright beans + dark paws effect (so if colour bleed is happening, the contrast isn't high enough for me to see it).

Undertide F and M with Cherub both appear to have a section of the underbelly colored incorrectly: For F, it's the belly at the end of the tail - in this case, it's bright green, while the rest of the belly is dull green. (Though, there's a chunk in the middle of that section that returns to dull green?) Again, this part is bright green. Undertide Hatchling, by contrast, has a consistently colored tail, as do other breeds. I feel like there is something off with the shading on the piebald/paint gene for gaolers- most noticeably with the secondary mane area for the males and the wing area for the females. the colour of the shadowparts is the same on the stark white where the piebald is in effect and the more grey white of the white colour. This leads to a decreased legibility of the gene and the dragon, and - since the stark white shadow seems to be the same colour for all the possible colours - leads to a 'grey' effect on colourful dragons. I think its just a smidge too dark on the white sections ^^' xxx white examples to compare the shadow colours example with colours to showcase the 'grey' shadow area. If you could nail something down further or confirm it's different from the others in some way more clearly, that might help Undel if it really is something I'm also not seeing ^^ ;;
