This thread is to track any gene errors that occur with the new Aether Breed. This thread is for this breed only.

Many genes have accommodations for dragon anatomy where one breed is every so slightly different than others because it worked better for them. These are not considered errors.

Please report any errors you encounter and we will do our best to correct them in a timely manner.

Sadly, the multi gaze and line breaking tertiary issue is a technical limitation. Eyes must always layer over the primary, secondary, and tertiary genes, and they are not contextually aware of what is below them and able to alter their shape to accommodate. This is a limitation with all of our dragons that have line breaking tertiaries.

Known Issues

Working As Intended

Secondary: Noxtide It is intended that only the top wings have the large eye spots.
On some genes the tongue is a different color than it is on the basic gene. This is intended and should be consistent within the breed and across modern counterparts (if present)
Tertiary: Stinger not having body plating on hatchlings is intended, as it is obscured by their dimorphic velvet fluff that is present.
Primary: Candy (black)'s dots are a darker color by intention.
Tertiary: Monarch uses swatches that are not always a perfect match for primary: basic. This is intended.
Tertiary: Circuit not always being symmetrical was a choice that we thought looked good for this breed, and is intended.
Eye: Unusual The eye gradients are working as intended for the eye shape of the breed.
Primary: Twinkle having sparse twinkles on the faces of the Aether is intended.
Eye: Faceted - The hexagon contrast in faceted falls in line with the range of contrast present in the modern version of the gene.

I will be deleting reports that have been corrected, are not considered an issue, or are duplicate reports as I encounter/investigate them to keep the thread current!

About space:
The hatchlings having a different highlight from the adults is an error.

The color choices are a unique set of accent colors our artists chose specifically for hex, much like blaze has its own unique set of accent colors. I will confer with the artist, but I believe that these more otherworldly accent choices were intentional. ~~I am going to leave the space reports about colors up for now until I hear back from our artist, but I believe that these were the colors intended for space.~~

I have conferred with the artist and while the highlights being inconsistent between hatchlings and adults is a mistake, the color choices are not and were a part of the alien look. Thank you for the reports. We'll get those highlights fixed soon!

Tertiary: Lace on Aether F pose had bleed onto a spine near the lower back wing corrected
Secondary: Noxtide on Aether F pose had missing white stripes on the lower back wing corrected.
Tertiary: Stained had its line art made less tinted to better match the modern version of the gene.
Primary: Mosaic on all Aether dragons had the missing the foot fade color present in the modern version of the gene added.

The thread is now caught up and is being locked. I'll be turning my attention back towards the outstanding gene errors in some of our remaining ancient-specific threads and getting those addressed. At this time we are not accepting new reports except to those ancient-specific threads.

Once the ancient-specific threads are caught up, we will be looking at reopening a universal gene reporting thread to catch any remaining errors. This is likely to happen sometime in early 2024.

Gene releases and expansions are still going to have their own dedicated threads at the time of release so we can fast-track fixes, but a universal thread for all the stuff that has been hanging around is what the plan is. We want to have our genes as nice looking as possible. :)
