It's well known across Sornieth that dull-feathered Coatl are sickly and seen as bad omens amongst their kin and these Coatls are no exception. The bloodline has been known for their physical and magical vampirism, likely due to a mutation that causes them to spend their energy too quickly with little to no replenishment capabilities outside of this draining. While some are born only needing to drain mana from their surroundings in order to remain strong, others rely on blood and others still need both in order to remain healthy. A fully fed Coatl will have vibrant red feathers and will be alert and energetic, but as they grow hungry their feathers will fade in color and they will begin to grow increasingly aggressive and fatigued.
These abyssal dragons are closer to true elementals than they are to dragons. Parts of their bodies resemble colored glass that becomes clear in water to reveal a luminescent skeleton within, any body of water they live in will stay purified and clean, and they are known to cause harsh rainfall wherever they end up. When these dragons feel intense emotions or excitement, their white scales often gain a ghostly glow to them and whatever nearby water source may become tumultuous. It is not advised to bring these dragons far from a large body of water when they are young, for their health will often suffer for it and cause their scales to dull to a flat blue. Leviathans raised in smaller bodies of water are known to stay much smaller than the average Leviathan and are often sickly for their lifetime as a result.
