General Pinglist - @CosmicFalcon @Salathielly @Quis @rotdeer @MeraHunt @gbot13 @ells @Tala2121 @Azuroru @DescendentMoon @septarianflare Two new listings, one from a studding, one an updated return from the previous iteration of this hatchery. Both have longer-than-usual lore for your enjoyment! :)
They moved slowly, necessitated by the fact that Bier was landbound. Fueled on thermoses of coffee and easy road meals from the Inn, the two headed out into the star-encrusted blackness of the night. Bier knew the place as Sidney told it to him, having learned the landmarks of Oakrest as a youngling and never having forgotten them. Sidney's information came by way of Blackshore, and the only errors were likely to come of the usual distortion as one story was told and retold. This soon after the incident, Bier trusted the sources. The night was frigid, and both he and Lorn wore heavy cloaks which they shed as dawn crested the horizon's broken expanse. The watery, early light limned the edges of distant buttes and hoodoos , and Bier wondered, not for the first time, if his father knew what he was missing down in those holes. Bier sang as they walked. Beside him, Lorn preserved his voice, now and again devouring whole lemons and honeycombs to rest it as much as he could after a night's work. Bier didn't resent him this luxury; he'd need his voice for the fight ahead. Bier would only need his fists. It was just as well. Lorn was in a pitiable mood ever since Sidney informed them they had little choice but to go. He would have made a terrible conversation partner. So while Bier kept their pace to soldiers' tunes, he also kept his thoughts on the fight ahead. They didn't know what they'd find, and because of that, perhaps Sidney had lucked out. Bier had worked with Lorn enough times to know that the warsinger was nothing if not adaptable. And Bier himself had been trained by Oakrest's Hunters. Between them, they would at least be able to survive recon. His only concern at this point, however, was knowing that Karina had been out there. Karina and he had trained as children together, and they'd gone on innumerable jobs together and with Lorn. His mate was one of the toughest, fiercest fighters you could ask for. But Sidney hadn't known anything about her when he pressed them. That was the splinter lodged deep in his chest, dangerously close to his heart: What had become of Karina? Aww, that wildclaw is a beauty, and Lalique has such lovely lore. I hope they both find good homes and that Bier and Lorn have a safe journey.

The ... thing - for want of a better name - that wandered the desert before them was possibly one of those things, for seeing it under the broad, bright strokes of the sun, all sense of grace and beauty and sense was gone. All that was left was sinew that didn't match the shape, bone structure with too many legs, wings that weren't wings... Bier had grown up on the stories of his parents and the lich beneath Oakrest. He had known the time the dead rose through the Citadel by way of his father's terrified lecture - terrified because Bier had the same 'gift.' Terrified because Bier refused to leave. Terrified because it might happen again. But no telling gave him a name for the thing that shambled the plains before them. It towered above a white mist which kited around its massive knees. Bier knew these rocks from a trip he took with Karina. The mist rose high enough to obscure anything that may be down there, living or dead. He felt a pang in his chest thinking of Karina, then turned his eyes towards the thing again. It hurt to look at, even as it wandered through the the mist. But they wouldn't learn anything by turning away. He fixed his eyes on its massive shape, trying to keep it in sight even as they both hid behind an outcropping at the top of a rise. "Light seems to hit it right," Bier said to Lorn. "Probably not a phantom." Lorn pulled a face which Bier interpreted as, 'I think I would have preferred.' Bier looked down below. "I wish we'd be able to get a good look at the earth. Any chance you can push the fog away?" Lorn gave him a patient look, then closed his eyes and shook his head. 'It doesn't work that way.' Bier turned back towards this thing, trying to determine how it would try to kill them. He didn't know if it was actually malicious, or just harmed their people by happenstance. He did know that if it was dangerous, it couldn't stay here. It was so hard to look at... He felt Lorn's hand on his shoulder, then followed his pointing across the expanse of fog towards a figure making their way up the butte opposite their own position. They watched in silence together as this figure climbed the rocks, their wings tattered, then hunkered low to the ground when they reached the top. Against the sun, it was hard to tell their coloring, and in this position, hard to tell their shape. Bier risked leaving cover to catch better light on his gauntlets. He flicked them back and forth, hoping the stranger would see the light and signal back to them. Moments later, the stranger produced a mirror and flicked it sequentially where Bier's own had been haphazard. He struggled to keep up with the flashes, then realized that he knew the code well, and that the odds of it being anyone but her were too low to consider. Bier looked over at the warsinger, who stared with mouth agape. He signalled with dextrous and excited hands, 'Is that Karina?' I reserve all rights to change any dragon's body to save on gems, treasure, or otherwise so long as I keep story and connection to previous body within bio. I personally call it transmutation.
@DescendentMoon - Sure I'll send you Leda & Heidi (so she can hang with her siblings) by CR. :)

(i'm sorry. please, do not hurt yourself with this many sudden pebbles.)

@Salathielly - Thanks they're your fault. :D

General Pinglist: @CosmicFalcon @Salathielly @Quis @rotdeer @MeraHunt @gbot13 @ells @Tala2121 @Azuroru @DescendentMoon @septarianflare Got yesterday's and today's handsome kids! :D
Karina had been there to watch for bandits and beastclans, and to keep an eye on the dead. When Oddity arrived, she had been there to ensure his safety while he sorted the survivors. She hadn't asked questions, hadn't wondered why the caravan was decimated. She stood, watching for trouble. And trouble came when Oddity spoke and Karina had the familiar feeling of something Very Wrong coursing through her, moments before the world went white. She had tried to grab Oddity, to pull him to safety, but he was so close to the trouble. Instead, Karina dove into a crevice, started climbing as quickly as she could, avoiding the white mist that clogged the earth beneath her. On the ground, something - someone - screamed, and then the world went silent as a winter's morning. She kept climbing, stopping only once she found a little niche where she could perch herself and wait and listen, her heart jolting through her throat, her hands shaking with effort and terror. Beneath her, something thrashed, and whatever screamed before did so again, its voice tearing painfully, the stones around Karina's head rattling. She tucked herself small. And then she prayed.
