White makes any white parts on your dragon/character invisible; toned makes the whites pop out and the darks contrast well too but it is a warm tone so it affects the overall feel of the piece, it's my default if you don't have a preference; black is a pain to work on bcs I need to layer 3 to 4 times for smooth opacity and dark colors blend into the background, but oh boy do the whites and lighter colors [i]pop[/i].
