As Sorell watches, near invisible in the bramble, a tiny Spiral picks its way through the bramble, glancing around it in fear. Her heart races as the Spiral looks around in near desperation, trying to pinpoint the source of the sound. “I know that you’re there!” it insists, raising it’s voice as much as it dares. “I’m not afraid of you!” Sorell does not know why she reveals herself in that moment. It is not a conscious choice; rather, she feels compelled to rise from the bramble, stalking slowly towards the Spiral. “What are you doing, little Spiral?” she demands gently as she approaches. Its eyes widen in terror as it spots her. “It’s dark. You should not be wandering the bramble alone.” “Leave me alone!” it hisses, shrinking in on itself. “I don’t need anyone to help me! I’ve come this far on my own!” Sorell softens at the Spiral’s brave words. The fever within her is peaking, heat rushing through her, heart pounding in her chest. “I have travelled far as well, little one. You are brave, to travel alone.” Sorell’s voice is soft, softer than she remembers it ever being. “You must be cold.” “A little,” it admits. “But I can handle it!” Sorell chuckles, lying down on the ground. “I do not doubt your strength. Come, lie with me. Grow warm, and grow even stronger.” The Spiral seems suspicious, but a biting gust of wind blows through, and it shivers violently before padding towards her.
