It was said locked in a tower high above, was a woman more beautiful than any other in the land. Her beauty was too great, they said, she had to be locked away so that no one would ever fall victim to her enchanting ways. Xiu Hua accepted her life, sometimes glancing outside the windows to the ground below so she could see the world outside.
She couldn’t say what was most important in her life. Her heart was full of love that she couldn’t contain, for three bodyguards her father had hired for her. How was she meant to choose between three men that all visited her at night, showering her in love and affection?
Yue was the most reserved, but he was so sentimental. He always visited her first, pressing soft kisses against her lips and cheeks as long silver hair tickled her jaw. Her hands always pressed against his shoulders, keeping him close against her as she bathed in his love and affection. He was always the first to visit her.
Shei was softer, no less a warrior than the other two but just as welcomed in her heart. Xiu Hua would brush her fingers over bandages, keeping them in place and taking care of him in a way he said no one else had before. She was happy to be that person, to provide him support and motivate him to be the best body guard he could be. He always visited her second.
Iruka was different from the others. His affection was shown in different ways, bringing her new fabrics when she talked about making a new outfit, explaining to her the different sword types. He would sit next to her as Xiu Hua ran her fingers through his short and choppy hair, listening to stories of past battles. She would press kisses against his temple and allow him to rest as he laid his head on her shoulder. He was always the last to visit her.
None of them knew that the others visited her. Xui Hua wanted to make sure it stayed that way, as she was unable to decide between the three of them. They each loved her, and she loved them in her own ways, and they were just what she wanted.
“I could take you away from here, away from all of this.” Yue wrapped his arms around her waist, pressing his head against her shoulder. “We could start a whole new life somewhere else, just you and I.”
Xui Hua laughed slightly, hiding her face against his hair. He smelled of freshly fallen snow, it was addicting. “We could, maybe one day.”
It was a conversation that she had several times, with each of them. She knew they only stayed where they were, sneaking into her chambers at night, because she refused to move. A decision had to be made, but Xui Hua refused to make it.
“Don’t you want to be with me? Outside of this tower? I can take you to see the world. Show you every land I conquered.” Iruka brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes. “I can give you anything you ever wanted.”
“I have everything I want right here.” Xui Hua took his hand, and pressed a kiss against his warm palm. Iruka blushed, turning his gaze away from her.
“Please?” Shei almost begged as Xui Hua changed his bandages, not for the first time. “Please, let’s run away together.”
“I don’t understand why you don’t want to leave.”
It was a phrase that passed each of their lips, to which Xui Hua always said the same thing in reply. She had no desire to leave, to abandon two of her loves in just to have one. Xui Hua always replied the same way, with a simple phrase and kiss to their lips.
“I have everything I need right here.”

Tada! I went with a slightly different take on this one, because of their dynamic. Gosh, I just love these two.
A frigid bolt slashed through the air, carving scars into the stone of the cave. Villain couldn't remember what they were arguing about, but all he felt was the anger in his chest and the need for blood on his claws. Hero sprang forward, trying to slash at Villain's clothes, but he missed by mere inches.
“That the best you can do?” Villain laugh sounded like a screech, cutting as harshly as his bolts of magic. If there wasn't the exhaustion keeping them apart, they would have been at each other's throats.
With a rumble, the cavern around them decided the victor for them. Before either dragons could react, the ground crumpled to dust, sending them deeper into the earth. It wasn't a far drop, only about ten meters down, but it was far enough to sprain Villain’s ankle when he landed on it wrong. As the debris settled around them, Villain took in his surroundings, not wanting to be caught off guard.
“Well, looks like I win that one!” Villain declared when he saw Hero still lying on the ground. “You should have known you couldn't beat me Hero.”
Nothing. Only a couple pebbles hitting the ground as everything settled. Villain coughed from the sheer amount of dust trying to settle in his lungs. Villain’s tail flicked harshly against a stone near him, slapping it harshly.
“I mean, we both knew it was going to happen eventually, I’m almost disappointed that it had to come to this.” Villain tsked, and silence was his reply. “What do you have to say for yourself, Hero?”
Silence had never been so deafening before. A bit of pride was washed away to make room for worry, as Villain looked at his once friend. Shouldn’t he be moving? Hero had never been one for sitting still, and yet he was lying on the ground like it was his bed. Villain moved closer.
“Hero?”
The blood was only evident when Villain got closer, seeming to pour from Hero in a thousand different places. His left wing was askew, lying awkwardly against the ground, bits of white and red muscle showing between feathers. Hero’s leg was bent at a strange angle, but luckily no white bones showing.
“Hero? Alfie?”
His voice was softer, almost a whisper as he bent down to Alfie’s level. Daymion’s clawed hands reached out, brushing away drops of blood from Alfie’s green and blue cheeks. Blood welled up against his hands, quelled only by Daymion’s paws.
“Alfie? Alfie? He-Hey this isn’t funny.” Daymion’s throat was tight, the words almost couldn’t come out. “Alfie!”
Alfie was limp, his head heavy in Daymion’s hands. It was like he was cradling the entire world in his hands, a precious gift that he had ruined before it had truly flourished. Alfie’s breath came out in soft puffs, hot against Daymion’s skin.
“Day-Daymion?”
Daymion almost let out a sob of relief, and blamed the dust for his eyes watering. Daymion had never seen anything so beautiful as Alfie’s eyes opened. Daymion brushed the pads of his paws against Alfie’s cheeks.
“H-Hey, remember what you were going to tell me? About the...about the place you saved?” Daymion sniffed, brushing away Alfie’s tears. “I really want to hear you talk.”
Alfie laughed, and Daymion felt his heart race at the sound. It was light, even all the pain he was in. Daymion glanced up at the rocks, surveying the damage. Only a couple rocks would have to be moved so he could get Alfie out of here safely.
“You...you never want to hear me talk.” Alfie laughed again, this time a bit more forced. Daymion snorted, lightly tapping Alfie’s cheeks when his eyes drooped. Daymion refused to let the other fall asleep.
“This time I do. I want to hear a story.” Daymion pulled back when he was sure that Alfie wouldn’t fall asleep. “Tell me a story while I move the stones, okay?”
Alfie grunted a little, obviously trying to stay awake as his eyes followed Daymion. Daymion could hardly see the other’s eyes, if he didn’t know better he would think Alfie was falling back into sleep.
“I…” Alfie started, struggling for words. “I thought of something funny the other day.”
“Oh?” Daymion lifted a heavy rock, struggling with it so it wouldn’t touch Alfie anymore than it had to. “What was it?”
Alfie didn’t reply for so long, Daymion was starting to get worried, but when he looked down he saw Alfie’s brows furrowed in confusion. Daymion almost huffed a laugh, but let Alfie figure it out.
“I don’t remember.” Alfie murmured eventually. “Why are we down here?”
Daymion winced, but didn’t say anything. The last of the debris was shaken off of Alfie, and Daymion carefully moved to help Alfie up. The other dragon had to place all of his weight against Daymion, every other noise coming out of his mouth was one of pain.
“Hey, aren’t you supposed to be telling me a story?” Daymion asked as he shifted Alfie into a better place on his back. “Just keep talking, Alfie.”
Alfie grunted, pressing his face against the juncture of Daymion’s shoulder. With a mighty flap of his wings, Daymion took off from the battle ground, and they were sailing through the sky, to the nearest healer Daymion could find.
“Hey, Daymion, did I ever tell you about the time I kicked your butt just now?” Alfie laughed, however softly. Daymion barely held back his own laugh.
“No, why don’t you tell me now?”
