Both, haha.
If the client wants something from scratch – a dragon Gijinka or a character they have in mind – I will create it from scratch according to the client's wishes and pre-defined specifications (for example, face shape, personality, style, etc - The description that the customer chooses or Any character or example that the client wants.).
But if the person already has a pre-defined design, I will base it on that. It depends entirely on the client choice.
However, it's always fun to recreate a Gijinka from scratch with artistic freedom. I particularly love combining animalistic and feral features with something human and in-between. Not making everything completely human, for example keeping elements like horns, genes, characteristic shapes and feral ears, is something I really enjoy doing.
