While this bejeweled staff doesn't itself carry any magical powers, it appears as though it does. Which might make all the difference to how its wielder fares in battle.

I have spent money on this game, and I would understand if the game shut down due to operating costs, or if all staff agreed it wasn't worth continuing to work on- or host the project. A hesitation to change due to Autism is also going on here, admittedly, but at the same time I don't think something so drastic to (what this thread at least has led me to believe based on others' testimony) a not-insignificant portion of the user base is something they could have certainly planned for much better.
i totally get where you are coming from (confused on the inclusion of spending money but alright, i think i get what yr saying) but as someone who also has autism and as someone who DESPISES change with some pretty big light sensitivity issues and pretty bad astigmatism, i personally find that for me the website looks better than it did! i use the nightlight mode on my laptop and blue light filtering glasses all the time but those in combo with the native site dark mode has made fr much easier for me to use. and again its not a one size fits all thing and i completely understand why some people are having issues with it, which is Why i am suggesting the things that i am and also saying that if flight rising is causing you physical and/or mental pain, then to take a break. it sucks, yes, and a lot of things that this ui was launched with were broken and bugged but fixes Are happening and are happening quickly! the devs and coders are working overtime to make changes and i think theyre working as hard as they can to try to make this website work for everyone since the last iteration was a failure on that front (due to old janky code from 2012-2013). this update needed to happen and there are growing pains that suck but it had to be done. the old code was ancient and buggy and an actual spaghetti mess. it was bad my fiance couldnt use flight rising for more than 10-ish minutes before this update but now he is over the moon because he's able to use it as a mobile user with an actual built-in dark mode. these changes were requested and have been requested for some time over the lifetime of it even if you havent personally seen them i am not one to glaze the devs/staff. i think ancient releases are handled awfully and i am not kind in my words sometimes regarding it. however i firmly firmly Firmly believe that this change was not made as a slight to accessibility. they updated the code so it can Be more accessible. they literally just have to figure out what is and isnt working for folks and make changes. which will be 100000000000x easier now Because of the new code. it will take adjusting and getting used to and moderation on your own end so you dont end up getting migraines or stressed out. i literally just want people to take care of themselves and not take their frustration out on users that are trying to explain the Why behind the changes and the devs/coders who are trying extremely hard to make needed changes sorry to essay at you, i just have a lot of words about this as someone who is autistic and has the same issues a lot of other folks are having

hey, just wanted to share this here so more folks who are frustrated can see it! i'm working on a project along with @/Exculpia, @/GunMute, and several other users to make changes to the UI to make it resemble the old UI more and also to make it generally feel more accessible (or at least what feels accessible to me and my vision as someone with a visual impairment). Here's a link to the main thread, and here's my stylus userstyle. please use it if you'd like!

please don't take this as me trying to advertise- us folks in the thread are doing this with the expectation of nothing in return and we just want to help ourselves and others <3

As a contrasting view to this being actively malicious, my personal experience of being a daily player on this site since 2013 is that the developers are ENTIRELY capable of poorly-thought out haha. They have a pretty long history of "oh I didn't think of that" and scrambling to fix things when it comes to their bad decisions. But in all that time I haven't yet seen anything they've done that was ever actively malicious. I'm very much assuming this rollout was again one of those things that they thought was going to go well, because they are a small team with only a few eyeballs, and they looked at things and went "yep! We caught all the big ones!" and then they released it on the giant userbase and our collective eyeballs caught everything they missed.

Like when you're drawing a thing/making a thing and you stare at it so long you can't tell if it looks good anymore, and then you show it to someone and they point out a very obvious thing and you're like "ah how did I miss that", a lot of staffs more controversial decisions feel like that, this one is just much bigger because it's on literally every page.

I don't even like the updated layout and I can't use the two dark themes, and the lack of contrasting colors has messed up the basic light theme for me (even with the insistence that it's less white! we made it slightly dirty to help your eyeballs!), but I don't think it was a malicious thing. I think this was just a Flightrising Did Another Decision (tm) thing.
(sorry if this pings you) wholeheartedly agree. i hate the new layout and am actively working on code extensions to make it more usable for people like me, but i also cannot possibly fathom that staff did this maliciously. not only have they never come across as that kind of person to me, not only do i wholeheartedly believe they had good intentions, but furthermore- that would be an incredibly stupid business decision. what website would intentinoally try to harm their users? they rely on their game to make a living. there is no reason staff would want to upset people on purpose! was the update poorly rolled out and has many, many flaws? in my opinion yes. did staff meant to hurt, insult, or slight anyone? absolutely not!!
