There isn't anything I can say that hasn't already been said. People have raised, explained, and defended their points quite well. The only thing I will add (which has also already been said by someone else) is as players it is impossible for us to plan the spending of our resources in the way that fits our playstyle without all the information. Staff knew the release dates of all these things: the new breed, what genes would be in the gem marketplace, pre-planning more apparel being taken out, changes to NoN this year etc. Players do not know these things. It is even difficult to make educated guesses based on what happened last year because not even those dates are stable. The cycle dates have changed before, why wouldn't it happen again? X thing went horribly last year: are they going to learn and try something else or are we stuck with the same bad mistake? We can't know what these choices are until it's too late. And of course what follows after that?
People in here are saying "well if I'd known..." and that could have been avoided completely with communication, or even better with different choices. The panic, the frustration, regret, the increasingly losing faith going around today and consuming people well after 5th when this closes was unnecessary for us to go through.
I don't know what demographic of the site here actually has enough disposable income to use on gems in a literal heartbeat: assumingly not a large number because that's just not the target age here. It would be to a massive benefit of everyone, staff included, if the item cycles were moved to pretty much any other time of the year and held consistently at that time instead to break the black friday cycle that has been going on for years that hurts players unnecessarily. I see that May is now on the table, but returning to the point above: that is the slightest relief for today, for this year. And next year? We can't know if we will be forced into another hard place again.
And perhaps for the future: don't drop extreme site-changing things that rubs up against major site wide events. There are plenty of dry patches during the year between festivals and everything that are far better fits than what happened this November.

This is another thing I already said in the suggestions thread, but I just want to echo it here; I really appreciate the quick response to feedback!
Personally, even as someone who despises FOMO, I'm kind of finding it hard to see how this is such a case? When I think of FOMO, I think of items that will never come back. Think Battle Pass rewards that'll no longer be available when the season ends, or DV's monthly sets (they say they'll be returning but it's been years I no longer believe them). In this case, the items will be returning, so I don't consider it to be any more FOMO than NotN or Pirate Day or Warrior's Way stuff? Which I also don't consider these to be FOMO at all because they'll always be coming back.
I think the difference is 1. the idea is that people will use real money to buy these, while stuff like Warrior's Way currency is free and easier to get large amounts of before the event ends anyway 2. people have been worried about missing out because there hasn't been any consistent schedule to when stuff like WC scrolls cycle in, and so scramble to get gems to buy them because who knows how long they'll have to wait otherwise.
I definitely would not go as far as to say it's predatory, as some people have, but it is rather unfair to players who don't have the budget to spend on gems on short notice. But knowing that things are going to cycle on Cyber Monday and in May going forward should definitely help!
I was referring to the gem Warrior's Way stuff, since even though there are stuff for event currency, there's also some stuff for gems, like the aura's! Sorry for not clarifying >-<
I agree with you on your second point, though! Not knowing when the cycles would come in really sucked, and it definitely was unfair to players because we can't see the future, but yeah having scheduled cycles will help a ton and I'm really happy this is a direction we're in now!

Thank you for at least telling us when the next cycle will be so I can start saving up again. I was about to budget my groceries to accommodate this sale so I don’t have to wait another year before finishing my projects. [emoji=mirror size=1]

Oh, I totally forgot about those being a thing lmao! The point about WC scrolls still stands, I think, but again, at least people will know when to start saving now.

All good and oops, I literally just edited my post talking about that LOL! But yeah, I do agree! Not knowing when the cycles were going to happen was a pain,,,, but with the knowledge that this is going to be a bi-yearly thing, I can now plan my savings with that in mind! :D

Poking my head in here to add a point I mentioned somewhere else earlier, but I consider this more FOMO than NotN/Pirate Day/etc mainly because of the sheer amount of gem specific stuff available in such a short time frame.

With other once-a-year holidays there's usually, what, 2 or 3 gem marketplace bundles for sale? Maybe a scene or two? A vista and a stray familiar?
With this we now have a highly sought after breed change scroll, four familiars, two vistas, fifteen (15!!!) apparel bundles, and four standalone apparel pieces not in bundles. All of this only available for one week out of the entire year. That's insane. If you wanted to buy just one of everything right now, that would total up to 13,463 gems (assuming you get bundle discounts). That equates to over $100 in gems even with the cyber monday bonus.
For casual players that earn gems, or people that can't afford to drop that kind of money on a pixel dragon game, it's kinda a slap in the face to have all of these items available exclusively around the holidays when money is tight and a lot of people are too busy to earn gems the hard way to try and afford even some of this stuff before it's gone again without paying real money.
13,463 gems for a mp cycle (over $100) is a huge price difference compared to the 679 (around $6, close to $7) you would need for one of every gem item from Warrior's Way. Also, the 13,463g price tag will likely keep rising as more things get added (I guess other holiday price tags would as well, but the point still stands). That, plus arbitrarily adding more popular items to a roster of already popular items makes me feel like this is more of a FOMO cash in. It would be like staff deciding the red rose flowerfall, a very popular item available year round currently, would suddenly only be available during the Valentine's day event in February or something.
Just my two cents. Sorry for barging in! I don't mean to shove myself where I'm not welcome, I just thought the point might help with the debate. ^^;

Just curious, Thursday is December 1st, not 5th. The 5th is Monday. When exactly is the cycle happening? Gotta make sure I get my shopping done in time!
