TOPIC | Tertiary Gene: Soap
I have to admit I am a bit confused about people saying this invalidates stained. Stained flatly but completely changes the color of an entire dragon. Soap is an awesome alternative, but it uses the accent colors, and it isn't flat, and lets some of the original color of the dragon through, which personally I don't want a lot of the time. These things are both its advantages and weaknesses.
Just as an example, I'm going for a specific look with these dragons which soap does not at all achieve.

The gene itself looks nice, thank the art team on that one, but I have to echo the community and agree its implementation is poor. Baldwin seems like the perfect place for it, and even more so when I hear more people than ever these days saying how gems are hard for them to get their hands on. Slime and sludge needed a compliment and just like those two "soap" doesn't fit the bill for genetic markings, just like sparkle, where it feels more genes are coming out that feel like putting a sticker on a dragon rather than feeling like true animal patterns. Putting it in the gem marketplace really makes it feel like a money grab, and it especially hurts when the only other gene like it is also in gems, unlike other genes that have treasure counterparts to the prettier gem version like the underbelly glimmer dynamic. I'd be seriously surprised if a 3rd paint fill gene came out aside from these two that becomes more in reach for players like treasure, coli, Baldwin, or even Arlo, so I guess if we want a gene that alters a dragons overall hue its going to have to remain expensive.

Oh I really like how this looks actually! The description doesn't do it justice; it's more like a new type of Stained but with more color variation and patterning, and I like it! :) I don't think it'll replace good old Stained completely, but it could serve a similar aesthetical purpose when a derg's look calls for a little more variation!
