I think this is an overall good idea, and I'm very happy to hear the team is making such a sensible choice! I don't mind waiting longer for a revamp if it's for the sake of vital background work :)

Thank you, staff, for your hard work. I hope the coders won't have too much of a headache over this one.

Hurray, may we get achievements back some time before the heat death of the universe.

As someone who tests stuff based on old code that we have to keep afloat with each new code put on top of it, i completely understand and agree with this decision. Finish the boring stuff first, then it's free to play !
Wishing strength to all the team and can't wait to see the new stuff when it will come in its time ^^

If it’s causing delays and making more work for you, I’d definitely prefer to see the remaining features refactored and polished later. Makes sense to me. :)
I’m so excited for Arlo and all that is to come this year!

For example: If part of a feature revamp touches multiple pages and systems, we very well might need to write code for it two times in two different ways, which drags out not only the development of that revamp, but everything else after it. We also have to write and execute two unique sets of testing, because having redundant code opens us up to more risk for bugs in one or more versions of it.

As a fellow dev my sympathies are with you. This sounds like an absolute nightmare. I know that even besides full revamps, the smaller refactors that happen on shorter schedules means that you're not only writing 2 sets of code the first time, but then you're going back every few months and trying to refactor 2 sets over and over and over.
I don't even like to go back and look at the single sets of code I write LOL.

i'm too gay and missing too many braincells to understand any of that coding talk, but thank you for being transparent!

hi
I know this is semi-meme and you tried to frame this as a self-deprecating comment, but I would encourage you to not say things like that first portion. You are just insulting your fellow LGBT+ humans with the implication. Being gay has nothing to do with someone's ability to understand code or their ability to program.
