About the price tag, I think it's fine as it is. Mentioning how you wouldn't spend money on it as an addendum to any compliments you give to it is pointless. It's not going to change the price, nor will it guilt the staff into no longer releasing gem genes. It seems to me a lot of people doing this are doing so to sort of "downgrade" the release as if, because of the opinion that glowtail costs too much, the update is now not as good as it would be if it were cheaper. Y'all really keep arguing about a price tag like there's a definite pricing guide to these sorts of things.
I, personally, will not buy glowtail unless I find something that looks BOMB in it, but that's how I treat literally every gem mp gene. I'm very conservative with my fictional dragon money since I'm a G1 lair. I really like this gene, if I find something that looks good in it, I have no problem paying 1.2kg for it.
Whether glowtail is or is not worthy of being on the gem mp is completely subjective.
For example, I DESPISE glimmer, I think it's genuinely one of the worst genes on the site, but if I were to go up one the forums and say "Glimmer doesn't deserve to be on the gem mp", I'd be laughed off the site. I understand that, while I may hate glimmer with a probably very unhealthy passion, that many other people are more than willing to cough up the dough for it.
Personally, I am looking forward to the day I get a nice fade dragon I can slap a matching glowtail on.

I think the update to the gradient on the glowtail trait is a lot better than what it was prior, especially with imperials.
