Galore is so beautiful!!
And yeah I kinda agree with other players on one week being too short,, especially since people on vacation will often take one-week vacations (for example, I go camping for entire weeks and am unable to be on my computer or phone during that time)
I think at least two weeks would be great, but even more time could be better (maybe one month?)

What Social Media tools will be used to make the announcements about Galore? I have no time for social media due to job/school/etc. so I do not maintain a Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc account. Will there be a paired announcement on the site itself?

Hm.. based on this tidbit someone brought up in one of the suggestion threads:
Since, as far as we know, two weeks is still the length of time between activity that accounts are counted as "active" for dominance tallies, two weeks for Galore seems consisten to me? One week makes me a little uncomfortable since those people are still getting counted for dominance tallies but miss out on prizes that are supposed to be for active players.
I'll also have to agree that it should at least be bumpted up to two weeks. If they still count for Dom then why aren't they getting there gifts? Seems backwards honestly. [Whoops, that was a whole lot 'a nothing, nvm] Anyway, I do think that the time frame should be increased based on how DOM active accounts are calculated. It doesn't make any sense at all that an account qualifies for DOM but doesn't get whatever free gift is begin tossed out. Either change how DOM is calculated to match or change this because otherwise it seems like a massive confusion point. Edit: I will add that I'd prefer, honestly, if there was no time limit at all. We never saw it fit to keep inactive players from receiving there rewards before I see no reason to stop giving them the opportunity now. Saying that we aren't trying to punish inactive users while putting a system in place that prevents them from gaining items where they previously would... seems odd. If it's the direction the staff wishes to go then so be it. However, I'll stand by that if an account counts for DOM Then there should be no reason it also doesn't have a chance at collecting a gift in that same amount of time.

I know I'm being nasty, but I kind of wish there would be a sort of queue, where items given out during festivals would be stored. Yes, yes, I know, my personal grumpiness because I'll be missing the Anniversary...
I know, this puts equal strain on the server.
Devs, I support your choices for the upkeep of the server!
Incentive the amp up the economy by having specialty items you missed bought should be interesting.
Edit: Oh yes, and Galore is very very pretty! Please, can we get beard ties as an apparel item for guardians? Please? I wonder how many fandragons we'll see?
Edit edit: Artists? Are any of her colors Slate by any chance? The secondary, maybe?I may or may not want to keep a list of all the dragons out there rocking Slate because...it's a nice color...

I like the idea behind this but I'll have to wait and see how it all plays out
Galore is a good boy though

I wanted to comment on this. While I am not opposed to an opt-in system, like the festivals, these items have always been given put regardless of activity level. I have been playing since September 2013 and have needed to be gone longer than 7 days many times. These items were nice to come back to. Most recently, I was gone for 8 months after the birth of my first child. There are life events that do require time away from online activities for more than a week. Natural disasters cant be timed to be fully recovered from after a week. Mods have left their positions here on FR because of long term commitments and illness where they couldnt devote spare time to check in every so often.

Consider a checklist type thing, where all options are available at any time (after the account has been created, no retroactive) and the option is greyed out after taking the item. You'd still have to put effort into retrieving the items. I understand you want to put active players first, but there are many, many reasons why 7 days is too short. Players who have no interest in returning, simply won't. Why punish those who want to return for those 2-3 items a year? When you take a break that long you will miss festivals, gene releases, item releases, site features and (I personally have missed) breed releases.

You want FR to be welcoming to returning players. This is the opposite. It really is. There aren't many items given out for free into your inventory. Why make it worse for those that have to play catch up on all the things I've listed?
