Remember those contests... long ago...? "The Loyal", "The Soldier", "The Beauty"?
Well, it took me forever to judge and create the prizes, I apologize! The pixel trophies did not work out. Instead, I illustrated the winners with a personal style I call "Spectral". I use colors and expressive lines to draw the character in a way that represents their aura. First place receives a special animated version. I hope you like it! And congrats to the winners! As a quick recap, here's Risen again...
This ancient dragon lumbers toward you and politely bows her head. Her scales are ragged and discolored, yet the circuit pattern across her body still blazes brightly. She must have been quite a stunning dragon when she was young. Now all that remains is a gargoyle-like figure, forever watchful of her homeland.
“I am a protector of the Shifting Expanse. Where you see a desolate wasteland, I see the most beautiful and wondrous land in this world. I believe life is all about finding what you cherish most. So… what do you have a passion for? Your craft, your mate, your flight, your breed, your study? What is it? Show me a dragon of your clan that is truly passionate about something.“

Risen observes Einmyrir quietly for a moment, looking into his eyes although the Fae does not seem to meet her gaze directly. She bows her head with respect, and rumbles low under her breath. "Your devotion is admirable. The Arcanist is lucky to have a subject as loyal as you are, Einmyrir. Not only do you praise the Arcanist with unwavering service, but you share your beliefs. Any dragon you encounter - wanderer, companion, or child - witnesses your loyalty."
The ancient Guardian approaches and tenderly reaches out with a claw, softly tapping the Fae in the chest, over his heart. "Your dedication is unmeasurable. It is not expressed by one dragon, but by many. By hundreds. By generations. Your continuous expression of love for your god leave invisible clawmarks. The dragons you preach to will remember you and your devotion. Wear your amethyst gemstones proudly. Continue to gaze into the workings of the Arcanist. For every day you remain loyal, you may inspire limitless devotion in those around you." Risen bellows a farewell and lowers into a noble bow. "It was an honor to meet such a loyal dragon, Einmyrir. I pray our paths cross again, and you may tell me more of your journey." She offers him a rare smile.
The normally stoic Guardian flares up with aggression with the stone-colored Snapper approaches her. Risen's vivid aquamarine eyes flash and the streaks of gold across her scales illuminate with an intense light. She would dare speak to me of loyalty? Yet she restrains herself into silence, listening to the female's tale.
After a while of deep consideration, she exhaled heavily and folded her wings at her side. The ferocious glow to the Guardian subsided. "Dear one, I apologize for the ill hospitality of my fellow dragonkind. The Shifting Expanse is not kind. I have seen that all too well. Yet, you have found life in your darkest days. Brasroc was his name? You make him up to be a splendid and impressive companion. I would very much like to meet this dragon you are so devoted to. He is most worthy of your loyalty, Ochre. You are a gift to the world. Always remember that. Thankfully, you do not need me to tell you that. Brasroc expresses such sentiments to you. I can tell."
"You are a queen, arisen from desolation. Awakened from loneliness. Together, eternally devoted as mates... that is a loyalty most admirable. It matters not your origins. But your intentions. You have a clear path alongside Brasroc. I can see that now. Thank you for sharing your story with me." She bows and retreats back, offering the proud Snapper her space.
Risen smiles when the green-toned Skydancer approaches. With first glance alone, the Guardian already has an idea of what this dragon enjoys. Covered in leaves and dirt, the aroma of fresh flowers clinging to her feathers, and the aura of nature are all telltale signs. This is an experienced herbalist.
She graciously accepts the green tea, sipping at it and admiring the taste before speaking. "Thank you, Rosmariini. It's delicious." She sets the tea down to examine her again. "It's very clear that you are passionate with your profession. And extremely talented!" She gestures to the tea and gives a soft chuckle. "I have not seen a dragon more invested in plants than you are. You are a true dragon of the land, the sun, the sky. Please, do share your recipe for this brew? Or perhaps I will have to visit and partake in a cup with you again. I would like that very much. Who knows, I may grow fond of nature myself after spending time with a dragon so loyal to their craft. You are inspirational."
