Porter

Porter is something of a gruff old grump, rough around the edges and sometimes pretty cranky. He prefers the simpler pleasures in life, like a good cigar and glass of whisky, or a pretty girl. For many years he was a guard captain who wore his rank proudly and firmly above his subordinates, always stern with them because he expected the best. As he aged, he began to find himself unconsciously faltering in battle, and he knew that it was time to retire while he still had his dignity. So he stepped down with honors, promoting his favorite lieutenant to take over in his stead while he returned to his home. As he had been a well-respected leader and tactician, it was not long before Deathstryke asked him to join her war cabinet as a strategist. Having long since become bored with the inaction that retirement brought, Porter eagerly accepted. He admires the tenacious Deathstryke and considers her to be the greatest general he has ever served. Sometimes he is even asked to accompany her on diplomatic missions because of his blunt tongue. Some dragons might think it unwise to have someone as stubborn as Porter along for meetings that require subtlety and tact, but Deathstryke believes otherwise. She thinks that it is much smarter to speak one's mind straight up, not beat around the bush and tiptoe about the issues at hand. She takes no nonsense from anyone, and Porter is an excellent way to back that up.

He is quite grandfatherly with the hatchlings, smiling and laughing with them when he is in a good mood, but as soon as his patience has worn thin he needs to leave before he snaps at them. He will often go out and sit on cliffs that he has hiked up, watching the world beneath him. He doesn't like to fly very much, preferring to walk wherever he goes if he can. Sometimes it is said that he would do well as a Snapper. Whenever he hikes the mountains though, he will never walk back down; he's got a bit of his younger daredevil still in him, and he will fling himself off the cliffs and fall down until the last possible moment before opening his wings. To him, it is one of the most satisfying rushes one can get, to have scaled a mountain with just your legs, and then to feel that surge of adrenaline as you hurl yourself from the top. It is this hobby, he says, that truly keeps him healthy and spry.
