Branches snapped softly on the white snow. Yukio recoiled his careful claws, pulling away and freezing in place. He was sure no one would be able to see his pale scales amidst the winterscape. Yards away his prey moved on, unfazed by the slight sound. Yukio relaxed, but kept on his guard. It wouldn’t do to be found out so close to his goal. His quarry paused near the top of a hill, silhouetted against the cold winter sky. Then they were gone. Yukio took his chance, and crept up the hill, waiting until he was sure they were too far to notice before slinking up to the top to ensure he remained hidden. The caravan of dragons was near the bottom of the hill–the perfect place to attack. Yukio jumped off the hill, and swooped in like a bird of prey, crashing through the caravan. The startled dragons had no chance–Yukio quieted them all in mere moments, leaving nothing but stains behind.
Later, he brought the box to his client. “Ah, so you found it. I went through so much trouble to get this, and yet you found it in less than a week. Here’s your pay,” a large bag rang as it hit the table. Yukio swiped it without batting an eye. “It’s my job,” he said, then left the building. The powerful relic he gave his client? He didn’t care what messes it caused. All he needed was the money. How else could he save them?
